The actor is attached to star in a remake of the classic John Sturges Western "The Magnificent Seven" for MGM.

While the studio doesn't yet have a director attached, they're actively searching for a writer to pen the update to the 1960 film, which was itself a remake of Akira Kurosawa's "Seven Samurai."

Now, would it be a western? A samurai film? Or something set in the modern era? Roger Cormen made an outer space version called " Battle Beyond The Stars" So maybe it could work....but I don't think so . "The Magnificent Seven" is one of my all time favorite westerns and I just can't see Cruise as Yul Brynner's "Chris"...maybe as Steve McQueen's character,,naaa I just can't see it all.
