Hate to vote against Sir James Whale...his contribution to the genre is undeniable. Initially wanted to vote him as I thought most would go for Hitchcock; but as now we see Romero(!) is becoming a threat for Hitchcock, so just decided to vote the greatest...who deserves most to win the tourney...Sir Alfred Hitchcock.

My logic is the same with Ridley Scott...It's percentage of output...so out of say 60 movies that Hitchcock directed he did 2 "Horror" movies...vs Romero who has directed say 15 films and at least 10 are in the Horror Genre.
I just don't consider someone a "Horror Director" unless a large majority of their output is related to the Genre.

As do I generally...but if you're an athlete like Michael Jordan and you're a great Basketball player and you go out and play 2 great rounds of Golf, I don't know that those 2 outings classify you as the best Golfer...
Hitchcock was the better Filmmaker...I won't argue that. But he didn't dedicate his life trying to evolve the Horror genre like George Romero or John Carpenter did.

He didn't need to- with one film he revolutionized it.
And in all honesty, I wouldn't say Romero has spent his life "evolving the horror genre." I'd say he spent about ten years doing that and the rest of the time spinning his wheels.

depends on what kind of torture porn it is. something like guinea pig series i'd call boring myself. but not many people will call newborn porn boring. or raping teenage girl next to her dead and rotten fiance. or raping a corpse in the guts during autopsy. usually one will find another word to describe it.
but anyway Postal isn't even a torture porn at all. and it still better than birdies...unless you have birdiephobia

yeah, there are tons of other monster dudes except of dracula. but you started talking about him, so...
btw "phycho" is about a maniac. no monsters there. just a regular looser who went kookoo once upon a time and cut a chick in a bathtub.
even if we gonna honor hitchcock cuz he was the first in cinematograph to make that sort of movie, there were lots of films better after it (not even torture porn ones)...seriously...when you ask someone who they had the best sex with, they not gonna always name you the first one. they certainly remember the first one ( if they weren't too drunk), but in most cases not the first one will be the best one, right?
i dont really care enough to argue...each to there own and all that anyway....bet the first sex you had the most adrinalin pumping through you though, after a while ya know the drill.kinda like the first psychopath, first ones like "what the fuck" then .....you know the drill wip dee doo
