Has anyone else picked up this gen yet? I got a copy when Criterion first released this awhile back and have yet to regret it. The movie is very goofy at times and very terrifying at others. Words cannot really express what is going on in this movie. If you have seen it then let me know your thoughts. If not then what are you waiting for!? At least watch the trailer.

I was about to write a long, verbose monologue about how great this movie is, but then I clicked on the link and realized you're not talking about the Steve Miner flick with that stars The Greatest American Hero. But then I clicked the link, and saw that it wasn't. But thanks for the recommend, I'll have to check this out.

House (Hausu) is quality. Visually awesome, totally unique, insanely camp. Can't ask for much more than that.
Steve Miner's 1986 House is great fun too and off the wall in its own way, although the comparisions between the two should probably start and end with the name alone. Hausu is pretty much incomparable.

I have to agree with both of you on that. I adore the movie. The visuals being amazing in the way that I see amazing and not "realistic" amazing make for great fun. I also found it absolutely terrifying and unsettling because of the special effects. The goofiness is a little too much. Some of it is acceptable, however, I wouldn't mind if the movie just skipped the entire first segment and just start at them girls arriving at the house.

I didn't find Visitor Q goofy at all. Just odd and disturbing.
No, asian goofy like the old Stephen Chow flicks from the 90s (with a few exceptions).

Here is an example for you. This takes place near the very beginning.

Whoa... that's almost Benny Hill-like. If that was a clip for an American movie, I would pass. But I really dig the oddness and the unique style of asian movies, so I"ll probably check it out.

The first time I watched it I couldn't stand the goofiness. But on second viewing I did a complete u-turn and realized there was method to the madness and it was actually more enjoyable than I originally thought. The same thing happened with my first and second viewings of The Happiness Of The Katakuri's. Loved Visitor Q straight away though.

That's definitely true. To be honest, when I bought this and watched it the first time, I thought I got screwed over, like a prank or something. I was almost mad. lol.

LOL a prank that's exactly it-I thought it was a joke, too goofy-glad I gave it the second viewing and it changed my mind.

Hausu is ridiculously fun. It wasn't what I was expecting at all.
