Kick-Ass 2 will begin filming this summer, according to creator Mark Millar.
The comic book scribe told The Daily Record that the superhero sequel will be shot alongside his other film project American Jesus, which tells the story of the second coming of Christ.
"It is the reverse of the Omen, which is about a kid who finds out he is the anti-Christ. This is a kid who finds out he is Jesus Christ," he told the newspaper. "We shoot Kick-Ass 2 and American Jesus this summer."
Kick-Ass 2's future was thought to be uncertain since Matthew Vaughn and Jane Goldman, the team behind the original, were unable to commit to the project. However, an unnamed writer and director are said to have been appointed in their place.
Millar's Kick-Ass 2 comic series debuted as a serialised strip in CLiNT magazine before being reprinted under Marvel Comics' Icons imprint. The seventh and final issue is released next month.
Kick-Ass 2's writer and director are expected to be announced soon.
