Me and my husband are hoping to move to Ontario in the not too distant future and wondered if anyone would be willing to be our point of contact, nothing too taxing, just me asking stupid questions about the area, like where to live, where to avoid etc.
PM me if you would be so kind. :)

I'm from Ottawa as well. Stay away from the South Keys area (That's where I live...) There's a huge street gang problem in the form of the Banff-Ledbury Crips.
Seriously though, Ottawa's a good town.

Hey Doppleganger, nice to meet you. I live in Hull but work at uOttawa on Smyth. I've never been to SouthKeys but I know a girl who hangs out there. She's the sweatest thing. Her name is Creegan. Do you know her by any chance?

Likewise Steve. I have never come across a girl named Creegan during my travels, cool name though...

Damn :/ yeah I love the name. I met her once and we talked about horror movies and nothing else. First girl I met that actually knew just as much as I did about horror movies. And she wears knee socks and plaid :Þ Oh well.
Yeah anyways, Ottawa's a nice place. I'd move downtown if I were you.

Well, we want to know if it possible to rent whole houses. I've been scouting the net for rental
prices and can only find apartments and a room in a shared house. Any full houses that I've seen
have been really expensive (when to buy is a fraction of the price) I guessed that most people
probablt rent their houses out privately and therefore you can't fing them on the net. Is this the
case?
Also we want to get an insiders view to which areas are the best to live in. We want somewhere nice
but not expensive. Where should we avoid and where are the expensive areas?
Ideally we would rather not live too near the City Centre.
Also we were hoping that someone would be willing to allow us to e-mail them from time to time with
questions as we come across them (get an insider view as well as the information on the net).
No pressure, I will totally understand if you'd rather not.

I dont live IN Ottawa so I won't be too helpful, but you can try http://www.visitnet.com. I used to work there. It's a search engine.. You could probably call them as well.

Come live in Kingston, Ontario. We have the most ex-convicts in Canada housing here. We also have one of the highest welfare ratios.
The house next to me is a renter but it's already taken. You can find lots of houses here to rent.

We don't necessarily want to live IN Ottawa, we just want to be within a reasonable distance of a city in Ontario, so we can work there.
Thanks for the link, but we need to know more about the areas before we can look at houses to rent. Besides the site you recommended only lists one house in the whole of Ontario at $1600 per month, which I work out to be £800 (british money) which is very expensive, but that's because the house is massive. I'd be looking at something around £400 per month ($800)
Don't worry about it, I'm sure we'll work it out, I don't want to bother anyone.
