Every year, the very special and prestigious SPECIAL HDC JURY AWARD honors the best in achievements by HDC members in real life. For this, the one-man Jury (yours truly) scours through the threads of HDC to recognise the finest talents HDC produced throughout the year.

This year, two very talented individuals have made their mark in literary culture. Both are different from each other, yet immensely talented. And now the world will read their stories and make them bestsellers. They already have separate pages dedicated to them on sites such as Amazon, and it's only fitting that they are the recipients of the Special Jury Award for 2011.

First up, an individual who joined HDC only this past year, and has got immense recognition and credit for his book - "Jeremiah".

An honorary and esteemed member of HDC for the past 8 years and counting, he has already won this particular Award once for his superbly wonderful Internet Radio station - NeverendingWonder Radio.

Each year, we have an esteemed veteran HDC Member inducted into the HDC HALL OF FAME. It's sort of equivalent to giving them a star of their own on the HDC Walk, recognising them for their contributions to our beloved site throughout their membership years.

Zwoti, Rayne, Urge, Austin, Newb have been it's former inductees, and tonight another very special member joins their ranks in the annals of HDC's Finest Ever Produced.

Does he need an introduction? No way. No amount of words can suffice for what he has contributed to HDC so far. Initially he joined up to spam about his superbly wonderful Internet Radio Station, but then he stayed. And how! From making his voice heard for all the Top 100 compilations HDC has ever produced, to making new horror members/fan realise the true value of vintage horror, to moderating the forum as efficiently as anyone else from the day he was elected...add to it his full-time real life job, maintaining the 5-star quality of his Internet Radio station, and above all else - his brilliant Halloween extravaganza on NEW Radio every year throughout October...

A person par excellence. A man incomparable and unbeatable.

First of all, I’d like to thank V for naming me president last year. It was an honor and a privilege and I wish I could have been around to perform more of my duties. I had a lot on my plate and 2011 was not a good year for me. I wish I could have shared your joy and your fun in 2011. I spent much of 2011 maneuvering around the horror and weird fiction communities. Still in service to the genre, still hoping to make sure there was better art for everybody that had the culture and vision to appreciate it. A lot of people don’t. They see there’s a new crappy remake being shoved down their throat and they shell out their eleven dollars, thinking they have no options. HDC is not about that. HDC is about how fans have power and significance and can make life better. By giving those who love horror somewhere where they don’t have to be alone and by standing up for the culture they want. What I learned these past couple of years as a small press novelist is very similar to what I learned at HDC. I learned that I don’t have to watch bad movies or read bad books and that when people put their money and their passion behind good movies and good books, then life gets better. Y Keep on doing this. Keep putting your energy behind the things you care about and you’ll see more like it, or you’ll see art you never thought you would. Many of the artists who make the independent films or write the books we enjoy are very approachable and want to hear from you. They care that you stand up for that work, they care that you love it or hate it or wish it was longer or whatever. Tell them in your tweets, your Facebook posts and your forum posts. We are not just people bitching on the internet. We have power. And if we use it right and if we keep this a place where we use this power to make people smarter, happier and more well informed, then it will grow and our lives will only continue to get better. Apparently you don't understand the "funniest member" award. All of our lifes are crappy....money is tight....some are out of work....relationships can sometimes suck...that is why you MUST stay...to give us that little laugh or chuckle we so desperately need.

With that award comes great responsibility....and I know you are up for the task. Do not forsake us Angra.....we need the laughter more than ever now.

Yea, I might be out of work as well in a few months. But that's far from the worst part. What's really shitty about the situation is that i'm a co-owner of the company so i might have to stay put all the way till the end, even tho i may not get paid some of the months. And on top of that i may even have to pay a lot of money to close the company if our sales goes really, really downhill the next 3-6 months... It's horrible. :(

Oh, i'm gonna lose the company alright. It's doomed. And that's alright if i could just be allowed to find something else. But i don't think the rest of the board will aprove. I'll hopefully be a lot wiser after our board meeting next monday.

Somehow I missed this on Tuesday night, probably too many Bloody Marys.

When I was working in CT, I got a rare weekend off and went to Newport - loved it! Beautiful town!
