Hey guys, so here's a bit of news on my life etc for 2012.
I didn't write any new years resolutions, everything I would have written was already underway.

So I said myself and the chick are getting married right?
Not sure...memory is not so hot...

Though yeah, we're getting hitched officially.
Neither of us really subscribe to any given religion actively, so the whole marriage bit has never taken a front seat in terms of priority, though it's kind've been long enough to say "let's just do it".
We've been together for 13 years now, well not quite, we're planning on doing this in March on our 13th "anniversary" as a couple.

So there's that.

Then we'll be joining the HDC parent club.
Another thing that we'd spoken about and yeah being 31 (me) and 30 (her) in 2012 it seemed like a good time to try for our kid for 2013.
Did I tell you guys we already have a name for him/her?
River.
Yeah might seem hippy or whatever but, it's the first time after SO many ideas for names, that we'd agreed on anything.
Might check out some multi-lingual variations, see if anything sounds cool.
Figure it'll suit a boy or a girl but we're kind've hoping for a boy...this could be due to the fact that we've both got kind've troublesome female relatives?
Either way our kid, is our kid.
I can't wait actually, I am hanging out to meet this person and, do so much kid stuff with them.

Here's a bit more, semi-related 2012 news.
So we're having this kid yeah?
As those who have known me for a while here will know, I've always been a bit of a green enthusiast - I've gone from stoner to the occasional toke to just vapourising here and there.
In the last couple of years as work has been a bit steadier my usage has decreased somewhat, the same can be said of the lady - though, we still use it on the ongoing, just a bit more sporadically.
We've spoken about it since the kid has been a solid plan, and yeah decided that it would be best to give up the green for a while, completely.
The reason isn't really because either of us have a perception that weed will cause negative adverse effects on the pregnancy and child, just because there's "maybes" involved.
Researching the matter says both positive and negative things, but a common factor that comes up is sperm count and lazy sperm etc...and again while I don't think my present usage would cause any if many issues there, it might.
Words like "maybe" and "complications" really take on a whole new depth when you're staring down the barrel of something like this.

So yeah, we're both laying right off the weed for a while, I think that we owe it to ourselves and out unborn to play the responsible card on this.
The intended gameplan is, from as off now we're keeping the diet in check and really smashing it out at the gym.
Less if any alcohol, and a cut down on our current consumption.
In about April she will have her "rod" (er like, internal birth control implant doohicky) taken out, and that will be the time we bid farewell to our green friend. For 3 months after that, complete detox.
Then we'll start trying for our kid.

Throughout those three months, the pregnancy, and at very LEAST 3 months after that, it's a green free zone.
Of course I don't have to do it past those initial few months, but I want to do it with her to show we're completely together on this.
After the birth, who knows?
Nothing too soon, don't imagine we will be getting a lot of downtime anyway.
My plan isn't to stop completely after that but, we'll take it as it comes - my perception now on what will/wont happen is subject to change.

Anyways that's our plan for 2012/2013, and as close as it gets to a new years resolution.
Just thought I'd share.

All the best.

- B.

I wish you and your lady all the best, cheebs!

My goal for this year is to drop 50 lbs. Sunday will be 9 months since I quit smoking, so I think I pretty well have that habit kicked. On to the next. I joined Weight Watchers this morning. We'll see what happens.

Great news, Cheeba. Love the baby name as well - River.

We had the name-giving ceremony earlier this afternoon, which stretched till 8 PM tonight. Named our daughter Abhilasha, which means desire/wish. It's a truly wonderful feeling to hold your own flesh and blood in your arms and know her with a name which the world is going to call her with. A feeling which can't be put into words.

All the best with everything, mate. Hope this year (and the next) is smooth sailing for you and Spa, with tons and tons of happiness and joy.

Congratulations, V! Are you still going to call her Isha? BTW, you still owe me an address. :D
