View Full Version : Why I believe Halloween is the best horror movie EVER!

Halloween is perfect because it's unassuming. they used virtual unknowns. there wasn't a defined, elaborate story to weigh things down. Donald Pleasance, may he rest in peace, totally sold the story. Michael was evil but he made us believe it. without donald there can be no halloween! the music was horrific and chilling and unmatched and perfect. the music alone terrified me as a child and it's effect still haunts me to this day. it's a movie i can watch over and over and still be scared. that's the test of a true classic in my eyes. beautiful shots of micheal so perfectly placed in the shadows and then slowly coming out of the darkness...a genius of a director! the first picture may've been slow in action but part 2 clearly makes up for it inspite of john's resentments toward it-the first was his baby. you didn't have to over think what micheal was-you just knew! and that mask is sooo perfect! they could've cut the eye holes too big or painted it black instead of white or used a spock mask instead of shatner. it was all so perfect...it is my favorite!

feel free to comment!

i'm simply a member of the horror.com forum who was just expressing my opinion. why does that require bashing? everyone else has opinions i just wanted to state mine. and the big reason i didn't post in any other thread..i just didn't feel like it. no one said anyone had to agree. why does there have to be a right or wrong? we come here to talk horror. i was just stating an opinion which is what everyone else here does.

what a bunch of sheep! sam says something and all the kiddies gotta jump on the bandwagon, "yeah, dude. you're stupid!" "yeah, dude. you suck!" well i think YOU suck. you're stupid! you have shit fucking taste in movies and you don't know what the hell you're talking about. you're the same bunch of fucking useless morons who actually debate which is more of a scary movie, FREDDY VS JASON VS WHO GIVES A FUCK or GHOST SHIP!!!!!!! You're all worthless and pathetic followers who can't even so much as have a single thought on your own. you have no business even talking to me. i'll talk to real ppl who have valid points of view like someone who thinks TCM is better. they have their reasons AND at least it's a classic. i hate you stupid little shits who come on here and try to start stuff just so you can feel all big about ganging up on someone....WHATEVER!!!!!

Well I feel your irritation....

I have had the same response at times too, but all of us had. These guys can be jerks at times, but they do have some damn good comments to make on movies at times. This is why they stay on the forum.

Anyway, I LOVED Halloween, not that they will give a shit what I think either. But that's ok. I snuck in to see it at the theatre under age and was pretty freaked out by it at the time. Cigarette went flying at the bodies in the closet scene... yes we could sneak a smoke in then... ahhh...the good old days! Loved the ending. Donald was amazing and gave credibility to that movie & Jamie was terrfic!

I think there are a lot of good critics on this forum, an though we may disagree at times, our opinions are still valid.

Guess I see things a little differently because I haven't been a kid for a long time, I just work with them.

Freddy Krueger.

Halloween is one of my favorite movies but you just can't beat the horror of Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Halloween is cool but it's not really scary, TCM is both.

For all you douchebags who are thinking of saying "TCM isn't scary you baby" you might as well shut the fuck up now. Just because you aren't scared doesn't make it not scary. I don't get scared when I'm watching a movie, but when I was a kid I sure did. A lot of you probably only started watching horror movies a few years ago anyway.

The idea was twice as horrifying and original than Halloween. What's that? A killer has escaped from the loony bin? As much as I love Halloween it doesn't get top marks in the originality department.

Halloween did have Donald Pleasance, Jamie Lee Curtis and the best theme song but Texas Chainsaw Massacre is the best horror movie.

btw senseless bashing is what the internet is all about.

Maybe he/she hasn't seen the other threads. And if you've seen threads like this one a "billion"times before why come here and bitch about it? just don't read it ya whiney little fuck. Or are you just a whiney little bitch that likes to whine and complain about everything? I bet you're the kind of arsehole who goes to a movie and annoys everyone else with your complaining about the movie, then sits there and cry into your popcorn when someone walks over and bitchs slaps to the cheers of everyone else watching the moive.get a fucking life ya fucking life why dont ya sam the fucking egg head.
P.S halloween is a excellent movie from the sound track to the actors. but not the best IMHO

some of you guys are like racists in this thread. Leslie has a right to type anything she wants in this thread. It is a free country.
Halloween is a classic, and it will always be and it is one of my favourite horror movies. Leslie has a point on what she said. She is just expressing her opinion. If she doesnt want to put it in my "best horror film ever" folder she doesnt have to. No disrespect sam the egg. But you are a shithead

I love Carpenter’s stuff, and I can see why some people rate Halloween, for me though it’s not one of the best horror movies at all … other than the music, which is spot on!

For Carpenter movies I think “In the mouth of madness” and the "thing” offer a better sense of suspense and creepiness!

I think I would have to go with Ringu as the best horror, even though it’s fairly recent, one of the only movies in recent years to truly creep me out, but I guess taste is subjective!

… Your right a lot of followers and sheep to be found out there!!!!

i found in the mouth of madness at BEST BUY for like $10-$15. i'm pretty sure it WAS NOT in the horror section. that may be why you're having trouble finding it. i think it was in drama.

Not a porno fan at AT ALL..... but I could see the joke potential!

My friend linked me a while back with a site that is like a George Bush doll. You can make him say stupid things, real quotes of course, and make him choke on a pretzel. He also wears cute little outfits! LOL! Loved this!
