View Full Version : Best Movie You've Seen This Year
The Villain

V started a thread and a poll about the best horror movie of 2011 but i thought i would take it one step further and ask everyone what is the best movie they've seen this year that's obviously come out this year. It doesnt have to be limited to horror. It can be comedy, action, drama, whatever.
For me it would have to be Warrior. Considering it's a story thats been done before (underdogs competing in a sports competition) and considering ones about fighting have been done famously (Rocky) and even recently (The Fighter) i was surprised at how original and fresh Warrior was. Nothing felt cliche or predictable and i loved every minute of it. The acting, the characters, and especially the fights were amazing.
What about everyone else?

I haven't been to the cinema much this year. Super 8 is the only one that comes to mind.

Definitely Drive for me. Best film I've seen in many years to be honest.

I didn't find there were a lot of great horror movies this year ... though I must admit I am a sucker for the Paranormal Activity franchise.
But I think out of everything, the best movie I saw this year was 50/50. It was just so damn good.
Ooo. I also loved Suckerpunch.

Surprised you guys liked Thor so much. I was really disappointed with it.
Snowtown would definitely make my top ten. I'll have to have a think about it and write one up.

Probably "Immortals"
It was at very least among the most entertaining.
The Thing (prequel thing) was pretty respectable too.

Hmmmmm - Off the top of my head there really hasn't been any movies that have moved me as much as, say, Black Swan did last year, but here are the "best" of the bunch (IMO) that I've seen so far:
1. Source Code (can't believe how brilliant that movie turned out to be)
2. Hugo
3. Captain America
4. The Muppets
I have not yet seen Drive or Snowtown, but based on EC's enthusiasm, I'm psyched for both. Also haven't seen Thor or Rise of the Planet of the Apes, but I got them both for the boyfriend for Christmas, so I'd imagine I'll be seeing them shortly after he open them.

Hmm...the films I've ENJOYED the most this year are probably
-Hobo With a Shotgun
-Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2
-Xmen: First Class
Not sure if they could qualify as the best I've seen, but they're definitely the highlights for me.
