I am completely sick of action horror movies. When you add action i really think it brings the horror part way down. I haven't seen Van Helsing yet but i bet i won't like it. I like the new Dawn but the old one was way better. And when did vampires and werewolves shoot guns? I think that is so retarted. It just makes the monster seem more humane. I think underworld is absolutly terrible. I wish they would start making horror flicks again. Does anyone know any real new horror movies?

I will not allow myself to be sick of Horror/Action Movies...Not until AFTER I see BloodRayne;) ...But, I definitely see your point....Where has all the creepy suspense and chilling terror gone???

I think Freddy vs Jason would be an action movie, what with all the kung fu and stuff at the end.

You are exactly right. I kinda don't like too much suspense. I like it every now and then but I don't like it when they make the whole movie based on jumpy scenes. Except Scream. I liked Scream, don't know why, but I do.

I really didn't like BloodRayne the game. I probably won't like the movie. I am sick of hearing about Nazis so I hope they aren't in the movie. Seems like all movies have to do with Nazis. I know, I know they tried to commit genocide on the Jews, well Andrew Jackson tried it on the Indians why isn't he in movies??

Kung Fu? You call that Kung Fu. I know that you are talking about the big battle. I really like Freddy vs Jason. I hate action horrors and i frown upon CGI in movies, but Maybe cause I love both the chars.

Well, it was toned down and only Freddy was doing it, while Jason just sort of stood there and absorbed the damage.

But anyway, I did love FvJ, it was done almost perfectly (the happy ending with the main character and her boyfriend the only survivors was far too sappy for either franchise)

I'll post my thoughts on Underworld below.

From an earlier thread (Underworld opinions)...

I'm sorry, but why the fuck would anyone take vampires and werewolves and put them in a big budget action setting, only to have them taking potshots at eachother with firearms until the closing credits. I mean, these things are supposed to be monsters!

MAJESCO'S 'BLOODRAYNE' GOES HOLLYWOOD AS BOLL KG ACQUIRES FILM RIGHTS TO POPULAR VIDEO GAME FRANCHISE

$30 Million Budget to Back Hollywood's New Femme Fatale

September 04, 2003 - Continuing its strategy of developing cornerstone franchise properties with widespread commercial appeal, Majesco, one of the fastest-growing publishers of interactive entertainment software, today announced a deal that will take their popular action/horror video game, BloodRayne to the silver screen. Vierte Boll Kino Beteiligungs-GmbH & Co. KG (Boll KG), the production company responsible for several film adaptations of video games including Alone in the Dark and House of the Dead, has purchased the theatrical film and merchandise rights for the game.

Executive producer and director Dr. Uwe Boll, expects to begin filming BloodRayne sometime in 2004 and estimates a budget in the $30 million range. Shawn Williamson (White Noise, Alone in the Dark) of Brightlight Pictures is set to produce.

"BloodRayne is one of the select interactive entertainment franchises that transcends the video game genre and appeals to mainstream entertainment audiences," said Jesse Sutton, President of Majesco. "With its unique blend of action, horror, and sex appeal, BloodRayne contains major crossover potential and we are continuing to explore additional licensing opportunities."

"We think BloodRayne is a dynamic, compelling anti-hero and a contemporary, smart standard bearer for the genre" says Boll from the set of Alone in the Dark, currently wrapping production with Brightlight Pictures in Vancouver with Christian Slater, Tara Reid and Stephen Dorff. "We look forward to bringing her-and the game--to life on film."

Williamson adds, "I'm looking forward to continuing my collaboration with Uwe, and to continuing to build Brighlight's reputation in producing terrific entertainment with these films."

Any time someone mentions a new video game adaption from the makers of house of the dead I reach for the cricket bat which leans in an easily acessable location by my desk.

I really didn't like the game. I thought it was very repetitive and cheap feeling. When I got the Bullet Time vision thingy I never used it because I could do better with out it.

I don't think I'll ever go see one of their video game based 'horror' movies again. House of the Dead was without question the biggest piece of shit that came out last year. Every time a clip from the video game flashed on screen, I wanted to go request a refund.

As for current horror that isn't so much 'action', I would have to say there isn't a whole lot out there. I liked the Jeepers Creepers movies and Wrong Turn was pretty good, but other than that (and the already mentioned Dawn Remake and FvJ) I'm having a tough time thinking of many.

I am pretty fucking tired of the horror/action thing. It really doesnt take that much from horror except the monsters/characters and ends up just being a weak action movie (ie. Underworld etc.)

I wont go see Van Hellsing and will probably stay out of the theaters for any others on their way....no thanks, ill pass....

I am glad most of us agree on underworld. I forgot about Mummy. I never really considered it a horror. It is all action except it has a mummy. I can't stand Blade either. I really hate Jeepers Creepers. I do admit they have more horror than the rest of the action horror flicks. The movie has a nice concept with the monster and all, but the second one gets repetitive.

Freddy Krueger.

What about Blade 1 and/or two? Those were Horror/Action, right? I liked them. But I see where you're going with this. It does seem to take th horror out the movie.

Have you not read any of these posts? We mentioned Blade. I said it sucked. I hate Snipes, he plays a terrible vampire, and the vampires shoot guns. I hate that.

I must say that the only real horror films that I've seen recently have been:

Wrong Turn

and... well, nothing besides that. I haven't seen any real horror movies in a long time. It's fucking absurd. What happened to scaring the living shit out of people? Or at least grossing them out with excessive blood, guts and gore?

Action horror- that, however, I must disagree on. I really do like the action horror movies, or at least some of them.

Underworld was awesome, as was Van Helsing. There are definitely some flops out there though.

Blade was good and I hope your realise Blade was based on a Marvel comic so its not meant to be horror its a comic book based action film.

Blade was good but Blade 2 was abit disapointing.

They do have horror comics also, so actually it was a horror action comic turned into a horror action movie..... And it has vampires, I think that qualifies it for horror.

I like wrong turn, sort of. I am just sick of super human hillbillies. I liked Cabin Fever. I thought that was really cool, no cgi, good gore, hot chicks, and 70's like.
