A couple of years back, it was reported that Black Sabbath guitarist and hard rock legend Tony Iommi had inked a deal to launch a series of horror films based on the Black Sabbath brand (http://www.fearnet.com/news/b16152_Black_Sabbath_Horror_Film_Franchise_in_the_ Works_.html) and possibly incorporating the band's songs.

Although much hasn't been heard about the franchise since then, the project is apparently still moving forward, because now something new has been revealed: Iommi will also be providing the original music for the franchise, and may even be re-working some Sabbath classics for the soundtrack.

Next Films, founded by reality TV producer Mike Fleiss, set up the Black Sabbath horror film franchise with Iommi back in 2009.

According to an article in Blabbermouth.net, Iommi recently told VH1 Radio Network's Dave Basner how he might be approaching the music for the series – revealing that he would be "either redoing some of the Sabbath stuff in more of a different vein, maybe, and some new stuff. So it's open. We haven't actually gotten to the movie part yet where I can say, 'Oh, I can see this bit on this.' And that's another interesting project for me to have a go at. I like a little bit of a challenge. I might be really crap at it, I don't know."

In other Sabbath news, Iommi and the rest of the band's original band lineup (singer Ozzy Osbourne, bassist Geezer Butler and drummer Bill Ward) will be making a special announcement at LA's Whisky A Go Go on Friday... which, word has it, will involve a long-rumored reunion project.
