In my case, there have only been two out of thousands of films.
I only made it through a few minutes of Orozco the Embalmer before having to turn it off. I won't describe the scene because I don't want to gross people out, but it is the nastiest thing ever, and of course it is real. One day I'm going to force myself to finish it because I can tell it's a wonderful documentary. Seriously.
The other film would be Squirmfest, which I have had a copy of for years, but have never even attempted to watch. It's intended to be an endurance test, and I just don't want to go there.
A distant second would be films with vomiting and other grossout material (Sweet Movie, Salo, Singapore Sling, slaughteredvomitdolls, etc.), but I always manage to finish them with a bit of wretching.

I could never watch A Serbian Film again. I've never really shut a horror movie off for any other reason than it sucked but I could never sit through that brutal mess again...

I rented "a serbian film" knowing it was messed up, but it was only after I got home that I read just how messed up. I never watched it before I returned it, but I do intend to see it some day.
I like to see how far I can push myself. I've withstoot august undergrounds mordum and the guineapig series, which are probably the most graphic/real I've seen, so serbian film should be a challenge.

The only film I turned off because of disturbing content was Men Behind the Sun, although that was more for...ideological reasons, I guess.
Singapore Sling was mostly a waste of time, too, in my opinion. Except the cinematography was fantastic; a lot like an old film noir. That was enough that I at least watched the whole thing.

Don't think i've ever turned off a movie due to its content. Maybe i've just been lucky.
But if/when it happens i'm sure the reason would be animal cruelty or real footage of something cruel. Such as animal cruelty..
I never made it through "Seed" by Uwe Bol, but for different reasons. There was a subtitle meltdown, however, from what I've read it's pretty nasty anyway (although from what I saw it's also totally unrealistic!). It does have scenes of genuine animal cruelty in the first five minutes (although these were not filmed specially for Seed but were existing footage).
I agree Men Behind the Sun is very difficult to watch, as is August and Cannibal Holocaust. Also, a short called Cutting Moments. Very effective!

I've managed to make it through all the disturbing films, but like Fortunato and Sistinas I don't think I could ever sit through A Serbian Film or Men Behind The Sun again.

I definitely agree about the animal cruelty. The cat scene in Men Behind the Sun has to be the worst ever, and it goes on forever. Now reports have surfaced that it may have been faked, but the cat sure looks like it's suffering to me.
But mostly, what gets me is bodily fluids, anything involving real bodies, or the use of real animal organs in gore shots. It was either AU Mordum or Penance where they had an exposed intestine with an "air leak". Nasty!

I've only turned of films if the content was boring me to tears and that doesn't happen often. I have never walked out of a film in the cinema.
I always find it weird that people object to the animal cruetly in films like Cannibal Holocaust (which is still cut from the UK print) when they eat stuff like veal, faux gras and egges from battery chicks which in my opinion is just as cruel.
Don't get me wrong I don't really agree with the turtle getting killed for shock but its not like this is partially worse than what goes on all around the world.
I know the Men behind the SUn one is more of an exception as its one of the cute and clever animals that is abused and there is no need for it at all. I 'm sure that 99% of the forum wuld agree with me that cats and dogs should never be killed for food, fun or shock value.
As for the other 1% - I say 'Welcome back FC, I hope you liked China..' :D

^^ Ok, that actually made me chuckle.
...
I'm pretty much a wuss when it comes to exploitation films - Have a very low tolerance and can barely sit through them... I tend to avoid exploitation films because of this.
Films that I can remember stopping because the content bothered me (you're all probably going to laugh :o):
I Spit On Your Grave (1978) - My friend got me this movie in high school on VHS without knowing anything about it. Up until this movie, the only horror movies I had seen were Hitchcock or old science fiction, so in a way it was my first introduction into exploitation... We turned it off at the rape scene.
Last House on the Left (1972) - Tried watching this with my boyfriend a year ago or so - Turned it off pretty close to the start of the movie, around the time that they made the girl piss her pants.
The Devil's Rejects (2005) - Tried watching this maybe a couple of years ago with the boyfriend... Also turned this off pretty close to the beginning of the film.
Pinky Violence - Terrifying Girls' High School (1973) - Watched this a couple of years ago and got farther than I expected, but ultimately turned it off.
I know these probably seem pretty tame compared to Serbian Film, Men Behind the Sun, and etc., but that's why I know I'll never watch those movies. I'm surprised that I got through Martyrs to be honest.
I guess that's why I really like reading Ferox's, Wicker's, EC's and other exploitation fans' posts - It's because I can't stand to watch these films, but I am intrigued with the critique and the reaction to them from those who will watch them.

I'm with you on the exploitation movies, Chrono. You've gotten further than me - all I did was read the synopsis and passed on watching them!

Haha... good one. ;)
About your animal cruelty points.
We have to eat and we can't all be vegetarians.
Also, i don't ask for a videotape of the killing of the animal i eat. I don't ask for real footage of human killings in my movies either. When i watch a movie i like it to be fiction. Otherwise i would watch a documentary.

I've turned off most "comedies" made post-1990 that I've tried to watch. They're just too damned stupid.
Yeah....I never seem to make a whole Adam Sandler movie

You know that it being an exploitation movie doesn't mean it has to be ultra violent. The nature of the beast tend to make the newer ones pretty nasty but the genre is almost as old as cinema itself...
Alot of the Biker and Blaxploitaion films are pretty tame for the most part. As too are the Drug Exploiters from the 30's-60's. (think COcaine fiends/Reefer MAdness to The Trip/Psych-Out).
For the most part most of the NUNS in Covents/Women in Prison (weird that they are vey much the same) only deal with nudity and sexual repression. So do get violent like Greta the Mad Butcher (the 4th unofficial Ilsa movie) but the majority of the WIP genre is closed to Caged Heat.
And when People mention Exploitation these are the films that first spring to mind not 'A Serbina Film' or 'Men Behind The Sun'.
So there is a lot out there for you to still enjoy . Start with some Dwain Esper the Grand Daddy of em all:

That doesn't apply to everyone-I'm a strict vegetarian so I would never eat fois gras, veal etc so I object to the real animal cruelty in Cannibal Holocaust, Cannibal Ferox, Men Behind The Sun, The Holy Mountain, Santa Sangre etc in the same way I object to eating ANY meat. I was able to get through Santa Sangre and The Holy Mountain as the animal cruelty was short and I had been forewarned. however I will never sit through Cannibal Holocaust/Ferox, Men Behind The Sun this is my private choice. I disagree with those films being banned/cut but I would feel that I am encouraging animal mutilations/torture in films if I buy them on dvd and watch them.
Also one of my mates tricked me into watching Slaughterhouse by telling me it was like Tobe Hooper's The Funhouse (I didnt have the internet back then to find details about the film). Needless to say it featured real slaughterhouse scenes and I switched it off before puking. My mate said he was trying to desensitize me....Plus I'm dubious about watching A Bell From Hell cos that is also set in a slaughterhouse.
Havent yet seen A Serbian Film or The Guinea Pig films but since I was able to get through I Spit On Your Grave, the august underground films and Salo I might be able to get through them

I love that people are talking about A Serbian Film on here. I saw it at a friends after a night of drinking and etc. They made it sound like we were gonna watch snuff or something lol. I made it all the way through that though and if there was ever a movie that would've made me turn it off it would've been that one. Long story short-no, never turned anything off due to content.
