what are the movies you liked with creature affects and your fave make up artists.
i am not as kean on cgi affects in horror movies, tom savini is one of my fave, lon chaney has to be up there, rick baker who did the efects in american werewolf in london, the change under bright light was amazing when most horror were keeping the affects hidden in the dark.and what tom savini did for dawn of the dead was awsome i loved the efects in that movie so much.

So many to choose from.

My all time favourite is Rob Bottin but others worthy of note are the KNB guys,Optic Nerve,Stan Winston,The awesome Lon Chaney as mentioned, the equally brilliant Jack Pearce,Carlo Rambaldi,Dick Smith,Chris Walas to name a few.

Full mechanical fx always outdo cgi in my eyes, shame they are dying out.

Along with Tom Savini and Rick Baker, I'd say the folks that did the makeup for The Lord of the Rings.

cigi has ruined most horror movies of today i would say, mechanical was so much better, some movies still use it but not as much now.

Definitely. The make up in that flick is amazing.

Back the Ray Harryhausen, Rick Baker, Stan Winston and Tom Savini calls. Amazing stuff for sure.

Love 'em or hate 'em the Toe Tag Pictures crew definitely deserve a mention as far as modern stuff goes.

head explotion in maniac was an amazing efect and scanners i dont know who did the efect in scanners but was bloody good. tom savini did maniac and he stuffed a head with apples and all sorts what he could get his hands on, dint think much to the movie apart from that.

Greg Nicatero is one of my daves, or Gregory as he's known now he's all grown up :)

Mind you anything to do with Bruce Campbell/Sam Raining (though I'm more of a mark for Ted Raini) is good with me. I even named my second daughter Megan Raimi

Rick Baker, monster maker.

His work in American Werewolf alone makes him one of the greats. Not to mention that I'm a MASSIVE Star Wars fan, so I've always loved his work.

Tom Savini for his zombie work.

Gianetto Di Rossi and Carlo Rambaldi, MY Italian masters.

Jack Pierce's work on Frankenstein which created an icon.

Lon Chaney, just a truly unique figure.
