So, who's geeked about this movie? i think the idea is brilliant and hugh jackman is cute and all but it looks a little too CGI for me? Any thoughts?

I think the wolfman looks a little too big, drac looks pretty cool, the vamps have unusually big mouths (but then again, why would they need to operate within "human" parameters), and frank looks a little retarded...
The beasties look pretty "CGI", but hey, I didn't see many ppl complaining about LOTR...as for the rest of the movie, the cgi factor doesn't look THAT huge...as long as they don't CGI the fight scenes - that's what made blade 2 a little (no pun intended) suckfull...

I agree on most parts. I never have seen a movie with a cool, realistic werewolf. Anyway, I think Franky looked stupid, ugly and not like what I expected. Still, it seems like its gonna be a good movie.

I would pretty much agree with the above. I dont CGI as long as its used wisely (which doesnt neccersarily mean sparingly). Harryhausen made some real good movies with stop animation. CGI is just another tool. It's how its used that counts.
It looks like it's going to be one hell of a film.

Ill pass, since when did filmakers need CGI to do VAMPIRES?!?! i think its gone to far, and the plot doesn't seem, IMHO, to have any redeaming qualities.

Arioch, while I agree that they didn't NEED to cgi the vamps...I don't think they look too bad, as I said above, it's not as though they (if they were to exist) would have to operate within "human" structural parameters.
The guy who's doing this did the 2 (recent) Mummy films right?
The cgi in those was pretty damn good...until, of course, the
8-bit looking p.o.s that was the Scorpion King in #2...
If they go with the MAJORITY of the cgi style from the Mummy films, it should be quiet alright...

Personally, I love the idea of having all 3 of the greatest horror monsters in the same movie. I love that they revamped the whole Vampire look. Granted that Frankenstein does look a little retarded, but hell. He's just been brought back from the dead. I'd shell out 4 bucks to see it. that my own opinion though, to each his own i guess.

I personally think this movie will be good, but it will completly slaughter everything about the classic creatures, and will ruin Van Helsing's reputation. But hey, it looks kool

I'll watch it if it ever comes on TV (which would be like four years from now). Not worth forking over the 8 bucks, agreeance on the too much CGI.

Around here (aus), cable tv has been showing all of the (many, MANY) old Van Helsing films, or films with said character was in, for about a month now.

Go to www.imdb.com,
search IMDB under "CHARACTERS" For Van Helsing.
There's, uh, quiet a few...
The one's I've seen on this entire list range from good to totally crap...you SHOULD check out a few though, the older but not totally ancient ones mostly.
Oh, and Leper, I haven't been to see Van Helsing yet, I'm going tommorow, but, having seen Kill Bill 2 myself, I'd say DEFINATELY go with Van Helsing.

If you can accept it as an action film as opposed to a horror film, I think it was pretty decent. Just think of how far worse it could have been, given the content and characters involved.
Good, but it aint got shit on the oldskool flavour of The MonsterSquad..

Saw Van Helsing and it was a pretty good action movie. It was like "the mummy" only darker and better in every category. Also Brendan Frasier wasn't in it so that's a bonus.

i'm already determined that the movie is gonna suck. i don't know. there just seems to be A LOT of hype surrounding it and for some reason it really doesn't interest me. may be if it were more low key and they used little known actors. when hollywood gets a hold of anything there's cheese factor plus the director of the mummy doesn't really do anything for me. are those the only films to his credit? if so, it's not saying much. doesn't have the same bang for me as let's say, " from the director of halloween...."
i love classic horror and it's a good idea but from all the clips i've already seen i feel like i've watched the movie and don't like it...

If you go there expecting to be scared or to see a horror flick, you'll be dissapointed, but if you wanna see a good action flick you wont

a good popcorn movie ... Great effects , and some powerful over acting - that is just...plain scarey ( good thing if your into bad acting - bad if your not :p ) - btw i love that scene where frankenstien was held down with what appeared to be a bicycle lock and chain wrapped around his foot ( when van helsing was trying to free him before another volt of lighting hit him ) - amazingly enough it held the 5oo pound giant at bay ( they dont make em like they use to - i guess ) .. also the last scene of Franky rowing down the river - is there to show that van helsing is not only a nice guy but that he now considers the monster a true friend ... and i guess thats the point of the movie ... friends dont kill friend , even if the "holy " church tells you to ;)........ a true friend indeed !!

Thought the film was ok, story was good, acting wernt too bad, but I think they usage of cg was a bit overdone... some parts it started to look too cartoony or overdone, like when Helsing turns Wolf and stars jumping all over the place chacing the vamp.

Or better yet, WHY WERE THEY AT STONEHENGE?
The movie was FUNNY. It was so stupid and predictable I laughed and laughed until these two old bags up front told us to shut up and we just laughed at them too.
I just, yeah.
It was reealllly hot though. I mean, like cheap porn hot.
