Hello all,

My name is Sandy Collora. I've loved horror my whole life. The original Universal horror classics as well as 70's and 80's horror and sci-fi, inspired me to become a filmmaker. In my career as a designer and sculptor for many major motion pictures, I've designed and sculpted many horror icons for so many different products and have enjoyed every one. Like many of you here, I have an affinity for these iconic, classic monsters and wish that practical make-up and creature suits would make a comeback, instead of all this CG nonsense we see today. In my last film; "Hunter Prey", the use of prosthetics and practical models seemed to please all the old school horror and sci-fi fans. Back in the mid 2000's, after I directed the short film "Batman Dead End", I had some meetings at Universal with Gary Ross and his wife about possibly directing the "Creature From the Black Lagoon" remake. Obviously, that film never got made, so I wrote my own sea monster horror film, which is actually what brings me here to you all... It's called "Shallow Water". It's an old school, guy-in-a-suit, creature feature about a group of fishermen and divers who go to a mysterious island to catch some big fish that get trapped in an estuary during a certain time of year. ... You can read more about it here;

Concurrently, I'm trying to raise some funding for the film on kickstarter and thought this would be a good place to find like minded people, who crave old school horror films and want to see more modern films done in this style. If you're sick of sequels and want to see something original, done in the classic, black and white style, give this a look and make a pledge on the film. I'm giving away all kinds of artwork and maquettes as rewards;

Thank you all for looking... I'm looking forward to being a member of this community and keeping you all posted on the progress of this project. I know an introductory post from a new member asking to donate money can be misconstrued as dodgy, but I am a huge fan of Universal Monsters and I honestly felt that this might be something the people on this forum would be supportive of. Thank you again...

Sincerely,

SC

I'll wait and see how much of a "member of this community" you become.

I guess you are cranky. LOL

Let me ask you this; What would you do if you were me? If someone like Guillermo Del Toro came in here to make you guys aware of a grass roots, independent horror film he was making, would you have posted the same response, knowing that someone who is that busy and consumed with what he does would not have the time to be in this forum or any other for that matter? Now, I'm not comparing myself to GDT at all. I'm younger, far less talented and don't have as much experience as he does, but I do call him a friend and would think you would embrace something like this, that's all.

I'm not some troll or someone pretending to be someone or SOMETHING I'm not. I'm humbly asking all you to look at my project and donate to the cause if you see fit. That's all...

Nothing I've said in my introductory post is untrue. Did I lie somewhere or offend someone? You can google my name or look me up on IMDB, whatever... You'll quickly see I am who I say I am and I've been a fan of all things genre my entire life. I'm a filmmaker for a living, sir. I'm trying to raise money for a horror film and figured a forum like this would be a great place to introduce myself to. If I'm wrong in assuming that, then I truly am sorry.

I'm just a fan like yourself, trying to get like minded people to help me make a film that I think people in here would like.

You really can't expect complete strangers to open their wallets and just start tossing about greenbacks to anybody who post here. We are, for the most part, a tight knit community of horror lovers who welcome anybody to post and become part of our little group. But to suggest...in these trying time...to give you our hard earned money....well...that's just preposterous...I mean really...we have little mouths to feed and beer habits to deal with.....lots of beer.

What Neverending is saying....become part of our family.....then maybe in 5 or 6 months.....we will toss a few bucks your way.

unless you turn out to be a dick.....then you get nothing

Actually, that's kind of what kickstarter is all about, Newb. You should check it out. But I understand what you're saying...

You didn't offend me at all... I was just refering to this quote from your first post:

I'm looking forward to being a member of this community

So- that's cool! I'm looking forward to seeing you participate in this here community. I mean- YOU did say you were going to do so...

And yah- we know what kickstarter is. We get 2 or 3 filmmakers a month in here wanting us to invest in their projects.
