I totally had one of these moments today.
So my RSPCA thing went down the drain a little while ago...haven't really spoken about it as it kind of gets to me some...needless to say, very disillusioned and well yeah, finding out that an organisation you wanted to be a part of to HELP animals, an organisation that has the nerve to claim to represent "All creatures great and small", is ok with rats/rodents being baited (this is an illegal way to dispatch any other animal as it's so horrible a way to die it's branded CRUELTY)...and their inspectors terminating foxes and the like as local animal trade farmers have had them branded "pests"...well, it was disappointing to say the least.
In fact, so much so that had I not been dismissed for daring to bring up these glaring inequalities, I'd have left before I'd have attained such a position as where I'd have to have been a part of that kind of thing.
I can understand euthanising a sick/really injured animal, but that's as far as it could ever go for me.
But hey, all is well I guess...I mean it sucks, but I've had since early March to deal with it.
So anyways I signed up to do some idiot work about a month ago.
Literally a it's a job of moving a *lot* of files/documents from one office to another - some 15kms worth if one were to line them up apparently.
Pretty big teams and it'll take like 10 days of 12 hour shifts.
It didn't start for a month (starts this Friday) but I needed work so I left them my details.
They called me in for a few jobs, then a few more.
Basically I've been getting somewhere between p/t and f/t hours, which totally suits me. It's been alright to switch the brain off a little bit and just build muscles - See most of the jobs involve a LOT of heavy lifting. Crates, boxes etc. Loading and unloading trucks.
So I took the job for what it was. I've made a few "friends" with similar interests, and yeah it is what it is. Nothing to be hugely proud of but gainful employment and it keeps me busy. Pays fine too.
I do alright, friendly with everyone and I get the job done....I'm still very much my "self" at work, I joke around etc, but yeah while being pretty easygoing I reckon that I'm just another worker yeah, been keeping pretty below the radar.
So I got a message from the boss asking if I can come in today (just got back) to talk about this big job starting Friday, like a bit of a meeting thing at head office. So I rock up, there's the managers and like 12 guys including myself...I was kind of wondering what was up with that. 8-9 of the "other" guys were supervisors I'd worked with on various jobs, and the other 2 were "new" guys that have been with the company about as long as I have.
So....booooring speech and blablablah about what we'll be doing over what hours etc, and then it got kind of interesting.
The boss, and I mean the BOSS boss (like a bowse) starts talking to us new guys, asking how long we've been here, what jobs we've worked on etc...and then out with it
"So you guys have worked with boss A, boss B, supervisor A, supervisor B etc..., and you've actually been identified as people that could be of assistance to us on another level - so for this big job as we'll need to keep things very organised, we're taking you on as supervisors too.
So yeah.
Seems as though I am now a supervisor.
