100 Years of Vincent Price

Tomorrow (day after tomorrow for those living in the US/Canada), will be the 100th birthday of the most beloved horror icon of them all - Vincent Price.

He was born on May 27th, 1911.

And those of you living in the Los Angeles area can attend a special screening of his 1953 classic House of Wax, which is a fundraising event. Proceeds will be donated to the Vincent Price Art Museum. You can check the details of this event in the Victoria Price link.

I need not elaborate on the great man's contribution to our genre. All I can say is, he might have gone 18 years ago, but he still lives within each and every horror fan's heart.

A consummate actor, a gentleman of taste, intelligence and wit. He never gave a bad performance, and he was always a joy to watch. Here's to one of the greats!

Thank you very much, V for this thread. A truly remarkable actor for all time. He completely amazed me when I first saw him in The Tingler few years back and instantly became a great fan of Price. To me, one of the brilliant things about Price is his excellence in voice control & dialog delivery style. He had a very rare talent to turn a screenplay into poetry...just with the power of his magnificent voice which still all true ardent fans of the genre loves to hear anytime.

NE left almost nothing for us to describe him further in beautiful words...he's my no. 1 favorite actor in the genre and tonight I'm going to watch his Last Man on Earth for the first time! I was actually (kinda intentionally) waiting for a day like this for it.:o

My favorite Vincent Price movies are the "Poe movies".

Vincent Price the gift that kept on giving-so many great performances to many to mention but I'll go with Shock, Masque Of The Red Death and The Monster Club

I think that Vincent Price was one great actor.

Though he did not start out in horror films, he inherited the mantle of Karloff, Lugosi and Chaney in American films and wore it well.

My favorites were his films based on Poe as well as House of Wax.

His earlier non horror films were great too such as Laura, His Kind Of Woman, While The City Sleeps, The Song Of Bernadotte, Rogue's Regiment and Baron Of Arizona.

Like the other three great horror actors in American films, no one has taken their place.

Peter Cushing & Christopher Lee are also in the top stratosphere with Karloff, Chaney, Lugosi & Price but came from the British cinema.
