Alright, so I am a big fan of horror and I've seen alot of movies. Now in some weeks my friends and I will have a movie night and I should pick a movie.
So guys, can you please give me some really scary movies?
And what I want is movies like "Friday The 13th", "Halloween", "The hills run red" and so on. I hope you understand what I mean. I don't know how to describe it.. Maybe "People run away from a killer (good if he's with mask or a scary looking monsterface) in dark places" With "Scary looking monster" I mean stuff like the nice dudes in "The hills have eyes" or something. I DO NOT want splatter movies. Because (yes, they are good ones) but they are not scary. So I am not looking for some blood donation or something (I do not think that blood is disgusting in horrors or so) but too much blood and I lol.

PLEASE, DO NOT SAY ANY OF THESE:
(It's in the "category" I want but I have already seen them. Please note that this is not all I have seen in tis "category" but I have a really bad memory so I can't remember everything)

-The Texas Chinsaw Masscare
-Halloween
-Friday The 13th
-The Shining
-Scream
-A Nightmare on Elm Street
-The Hills Run Red

I know more but I cannot remember more right now :p

oh and by the way DO NOT SAY THE EXORCIST OR SAW because they are good movies but they are not in the "category" I want and I have already seen them. I said this because people spammed me those movie titles eaven when I said that that's not what I want. anyways this is maybe the most important of all:

DO NOT GIVE ME GHOST OR "GOD'S WILL" MOVIES BECAUSE I DO NOT BELIEVE IN GOD OR GHOSTS. Actully I think it's Ridiculous.

Thanks in advance.
oh by the way, the dead line is in 4 weeks from now.
Greetings from me :)

[Edit] oh Sorry The Hills Run Red is a Splatter too but it's the stuff I want. Masked killers.

I mean I want something to choose from :D
And also; how old is it? Will it make my friends unable to get sleep? :p

By the way I am new here, how can I add a profile pic?

[Edit] never mind I found the year

Interestingly there was a recent thread that might have been titled "top ten horror movies from the last decade to recommend to somebody you don't know who has very specific viewing requirements". The original list was:

Alone In The Dark
The Fog
Scary Movie 2
When a Stranger Calls
Doom
Black Christmas
Premonition
Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem
Halloween Resurrection
Van Helsing

A few other movies were discussed like House of the Dead, My Bloody Valentine, Seed of Chucky, The Final Destination and Scream 3. I'm sure if you do a search you will be able to find the full discussion of all these masterpieces of the genre.

There are many wonderful, scary horror films. Many of these horror films have frightening figures in masks lurching out of the dark to kill their victims. Films of this type date back to the 1960s and there are many that many consider to be far more terrifying than Halloween or Friday The 13th. Yep, there sure are a lot.

Alright, I have decided that if I do no find anything that I like here I will probably go with a movie in this category I have already seen. I have seen them all but my friends are not watching horrors that often. I've asked them and they haven't seen any of these. Which one do you think I should chose, which will make my friends most frightened? Pick one of these:

-Friday the 13th Part I + II + III + IV (We watch those 4 movies)

-Halloween 1978 + 2007 (We watch the one from 1978 and then the remake from 2007 to make a comparison between old and new)

-The Texas Chainsaw Masscare 1974 + 2003 (We watch the one from 1974 and then the remake from 2003 to make a comparison between old and new)

-The Hills Run Red + Another Horror Movie

So Pick one option that you think that will be most effective to scare the crap out of them :D

Diabolical
01-22-2011, 07:54 AM
Why dont you just put a movie on then jump out from behind them with a knife and attempt to murder them. That will scare them...To be honest, no movie is scary at home ( to me) the theatres sound level is the only thing that sometimes scares me.

Jokuc
01-22-2011, 01:54 PM
Hm when you say "At home" I have some good news, we are not going to be inside the main house but in a small building next to it. Actully it's looking like the camp cottages from Friday the 13th (I am serious) so I was thinking about to pick ft13th..

By the way I founded out that the stuff I want is called "Stalk n' Slash" Or something like that. I found a video about it located here:

How about Event Horizon? Big budget, good story, good acting and some serious jumps along the way.

Or, Blair Witch Project? If they've never seen it, it might scare the sh*t out of them.

If they aren't big horror fans, stick to movies that are easily accessible, like Scream, Aliens, BWPII, any Saw movie, Jaws, Omen, Exorcist.

Or, for a laugh, bring AU Mordum, Ichi the Killer, Irreversible etc :D

Wrong Turn Trilogy.
Great trilogy, one and two were great. The third one...not so much, but the violence and gore was mint.
Set in "The Boonies" of West Virginia where Inscest cannible hillbillies will kill/eat you. A group of young people try to survive the woods and not get killed by the cannibles.

This film was shot in Canada, I beleive the first one was filmed somewhere in Ontario, and the remaining two were filemd somewheres in British Columbia.

Picked myself up the Trilogy for $50 at HMV quite afew months ago.

You can't mean that. Part slasher movie, part adventure movie it was the first movie to break the $100m mark at the box office. From the cello playing shark to the Robert Shaw crafty old sea dog character, it's amazing!

Now, the sequals on the other hand, are absolutely dreadful. If we started a thread 'Which series of movies has the biggest gulf in quality between the first movie and subsequent sequals?', Jaws would be top of the list.

Surely the first victim's demise was quite scary.

I heard that when they shot that scene they used ropes to pull her back and forward through the water, with a burly man at one end and a second burly fellow at the other taking it in turns to pull. This didn't work too well and when they both pulled at the same time they broke several of her ribs. So, when you see her being dragged about screaming '...it hurts, it hurts...', she isn't acting, it actually hurts:D Probably a myth.

Also, Robert Shaw grew up about 15 miles from where I live. Pretty boring stuff really but thanks for listening:)
