A week and a half or so ago, I promised you that I would help HDC make some leaps into the future. I intend to make good on those promises, even if it takes some time to make them happen. One of these suggested projects was the HDC Sampler, an ebook sharing the talent, intellect and insights of HDC's members. Send me short stories, essays, film reviews, art and poetry and I'll showcase your best. I may need some help with the book's layout later on, but I promise I'll do my damnedest to be a fine editor for this showcase. Send your submissions of 3,000 words or less to
[email protected]. Try to make your stories/poetry/prose .doc or rtf files and your images jpegs. If I find a submission to be of very substantial quality, competitive with other professional authors, I might want to print it in my ezine Nuckelavee, so you'll have your choice between the two, or you could appear in both if you so desire. Please include HDC Sampler in your subject. I cannot pay you anything but exposure, but considering how many people come to this site, it might be some good exposure.

I feel silly for even asking but I suppose all written entries must be in English?
._.

Hmmm.....
I'm sure I have so design work i could submit.
I also did a series of 'faked interviews' that a friend and I did and got them published in a Dublin fan/magazine. I defianlly have the 2 I did - don't know if they're the kinda thing you are looking for.

Unfortunately, like most genre presses, yes, I must take English entries. And there are not nearly as many foreign language markets for genre fiction as there should be. So, unless you know of a Swedish magazine or press that would like whatever you're doing, English might be a good bet in general. It sucks and I feel really bad saying that. Even Japan doesn't have a ton of sci fi and horror magazines.

I don't want to do reprints, but I'd like to see something from you.

I figured as much. Actually, this might be a good time for me to get my thumbs out of my ass and start translating my stuff into English. There's always been that fear of losing things in translation simply because I'm not good enough but it could be worth trying nonetheless. I know my short horror stories are great in Swedish and if they suck in English you'll tell me, right? ^^

I definitely will. And I'll be on the lookout for idiomatic things and the sort of stuff that might get lost in a translation. Your English is a lot less stunted than that of a lot of people who I've seen on the internet.

Sorry for slacking, I meant to donate more time to this.
What sort of stories are you thinking? Original tales or Fan Fiction etc.?
Doc Faustus

No fan fiction. Original stories, poetry, essays and art only please.
