Just wondering if anyone's watched it yet?
I'm currently downloading episode 1, as my country has shitty tv here and won't get it probably until sometime next year...

What are your thoughts?

I loved it!

The imagery was excellent and the mood was really haunting. I'm also genuinely interested in the characters we met in episode one. Not only was there horror and gore, but the show also had heart... I even cried a little. I can't wait to see more episodes!

Just watched it.
I've read every issue of the comic thus far, and while there were a few changes/tweaks it was true to the source material.
Very atmospheric and well put together, you can tell a lot of care and hands-on work has been done between the two creative teams...
Not certain about ALL of the casting decisions but everyone seems to be doing fine.
Even having read through these events in the comic, I can say that IMO this one episode is (sadly) better than anything Romero has spat out on his existing cred in years.

VERY good, for fans of the comic and horror/zombie genre enthusiasts alike.

I guess the characters are going to have to grow on me, but if you think about it these are exactly the type of disparate personalities one would expect would be thrown together during a zombie apocalypse.

As a zombie fan, I love the series so far. I think, idiotic parodies aside, this is still a growing genre within horror that directors/producers have only scratched the surface of.

If anyone saw the last episode of real Time with Bill Maher, he makes a hilarious point about zombies-he basically said if he is expected to be frightened by them, they have to learn to walk faster, or at least fast enough for him to think they could actually catch him.

Watched the first episode on Friday night and was blown away at how good a tv show could be.The fx and overall style and tension were fantastic and was glued from start to finish.

I don't know how uniform the commercials they show are from region to region, but if any of you saw thecommercial for LifeAlert, or something like that- with Joyce Brothers in it... I have to say that was a scary experience in itself. I grew up watching Joyce Brothers as a guest or panelist on dozens of shows, but she is so old and shrivelled up she looks exactly like one of the zombies now. No special effects! If any of you have seen this commercial, you know what I mean!

Hi!

In Sweden a new web series, inspired by The Walking Dead, is under production, called The Great Dying. It´s a horror/action/adventure produced by Ödmården Produktion (www.odmarden.se). Despite a relatively low budget there are 15 episodes planned.

The action takes place 70 years after the great cathastroph. The few surviving human beings are scavenging to survive. There´s also a virus going around, a virus that turns you into flesh eating ghoul (zombie). We get to follow a small group of people in their struggles to reach a rumoured haven, Susannah.

The series is shot in English. Thea actors are yours truly (I appear in episode 4 and onwards), Ralf T. Beck from Tomb Rider, David Prowse etc.

The first episode has suffered a few technical mishaps, but this will be corrected from episode 2 and onwards.

I was thinking they may be doing something similar to the storyline arcs of the comic..? I mean I can think of a relatively significant event to do with one of the younger cast members, and a change of location coming up pretty soon...so it could just be sticking to that?
Though I wouldn't be surprised if next season is at least a few episodes longer.

The season finale was really great, IMO. They managed to wring some real emotional reactions from me as I found myself caring for the character's plight. It didn't matter to me at all that there was only about 30 seconds of zombie footage in the entire episode.

I have so far seen five episodes and love it,though there is a wee small problem and that is there is not enough zombie action, after the first episode the fun stuff is spread out quite thinly.

For a show about zombies i just want a bit more, would anyone else agree.

Still love it though so its only a small criticism

I think keeping the zombie action spare it heightens the tension and allows for more character development, which gives the story more emotional depth, making it more than a mere splatterfest.

I agree, and to that extent they've succeeded but the problem is that I was really looking forward to a splatterfest. But it's like any other show... with added zombies. I wanted more action and blood and guts, not friggin character development and human bonding.

cheebacheeba
12-09-2010, 06:51 AM
TWD comic, has been going for nearly 7 years now...these days, that's one hell of a run...the reason it has managed to go for so long, and stay relatively "fresh" is that it has broken the mould in such a way - It's not just about "surviving zombies" and being attacked, it's about characters brought together to survive in a world that has been overrun by a zombie plague, with not only zombies but their own conflicts to deal with among themselves, and *invisible spoiler*
...eventually others they encounter...
It's about what it would be like...not everyone's automatically a bad-ass zombie killing machine, and some that usually aren't, turn out to be...you see people grow, and change throughout the series so, in my opinion I'll have to disagree with you S.baby/Anthro - There isn't LESS to this than most zombie movies, there's more.

Keep watching, you WILL see zombie attacks, huge hordes of the undead, much blood and gore for many reasons...you will see people go through some truly crazy shit and many unexpected situations, and terrible things worse than being eaten alive, the cast will change, grow, and shrink for many reasons.
This is a series of quality...and simply would not last, if it stuck to the "lets have zombies kill people all the time", it just would not work...

your verdict??

Awesome! Just finished watching the 1st season in a row for the last 2 days. First 2 episodes were excellent! It wasn't like a 'made-for-TV' product at all. I haven't read or see the original comic book series but I think that's what any good true fan of this genre wants to see in a zombie story....even far better than any big or low budget zombie films made in recent years.

Hate to wait for a year for the 13-episode long (coool!) 2nd season...eagerly waiting to know what's their next stoppage and especially what happened to Marle Dixon, Morgan and his son Duane??

To me, one of the most shocking, and effective moments in the whole series was in the first episode, of the zomble with no legs left, pulling itself along by its arms. That one image spoke so much.

Ditto! :)

I only hope that Darabont gets engaged in more projects in coming years...this man can give us anything with standard.

Shane was amazing!! He was hot and had depth of character and he evolved. He was exciting to watch and added tension to the show. Rick of course is the hero, but I would shake my head at how foolish he was sometimes.. Like saving the kid who was running w/the group who tried to kill them. I HATED the ending of season 2 however. I hated the hooded CGI zombies-on-leashes chick. I hated Rick in that episode and frankly, Laurie can bite it anytime. Loved season 1 & 2, but probably won't tune in for season 3.

Fantastic show, one of my favourites, AMC has outdone itself again, caught a quick glance at a season 3 preview, the prison is going to be intense, and if they even go close to the comic series in this season, I hope they end up adding the govenor into the show, he was a wicked villain. :)

This is my favorite show as well, in fact, this is the only show in which I own the DVD sets. I've enjoyed the pacing of seasons 1 & 2, and have defended it to anyone who has made the claim that it moves too slowly or that it is too much like a soap opera. My defense has always been that the relationships between the well acted characters and their extremely well written dialogue makes the action sequences pay off that much more. My wife and I enjoy analyzing the differences between the comics (which we also read) and the show. Just watched the featurettes on the newly acquired season 2 set and I can't recommend it enough. The only featurette I found to be unnecessary is the last one concerning the extras wardrobe, all the other featurettes were very interesting and entertaining. Can't wait for season 3!

Yes, I really enjoyed the opening episode to season 3. It's amazing how this show just seems to get better and better. It's not like it was a garbage show in season 1 and has just improved. This show has been excellent, in my opinion, from the very beginning. My wife also became hooked on it and she's not even really a big fan of zombie movies, so that should say something to how great this show is. The pacing and the story was just different in season 1 and season 2, but still of great quality. I think the tempo and the theme of each season has a lot to do with how the script writers approach it.

Frankenstein

Yea I like it well enough. definitely things i'd improve if it was up to me, but it's a TV show; and with a show like this you have to maintain a certain level of a suspension of disbelief - or you'll find it hard to enjoy much of anything.

I don't have any issues with the storyline for the most part. It is what it is... and i'm just along for the ride. What I do have issues with is detail.

Fingers hanging through fences in close proximity to walkers... the haphazardly way zombie blood flies and splashes around during a kill, but early on in the show they emphasized the idea that they should be properly protected by being well covered.... things like that.

Overall though I like the show, most of the characters, most of the story.
Season 2 had twice the episodes done on only half of the budget of season 1, and it showed. Bogged down storyline, and way too much whining and bitching going on. So far this season has started off better. See if it holds up.

Someone told me 3rd season just started and it's great, I don't want to judge it because I've only seen 5 episodes.....five "slow and kinda lame in some parts" episodes....so does it gets better?

If you're not hooked by the first five episodes, you might as well forget it. You're not going to like the rest. It started out strong and was rightly hailed as a landmark in horror on television, and possibly one of the most original zombie stories to grace either the big or small screen.

well I actually watched 4 episodes and now I'm on episode 5 (haven't seen it) but I think I will finish season 1 before making any overall judgement Even though I didnt find the first episodes amazing, I can agree with you about the originality of the story.

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed episode 2. This show just gets better and better. Obviously, Rick is in charge and he wants to make sure all outsiders know it (since the people in his group have fully accepted it). Rick is much more willing now to eliminate real and perceived threats to the lives he's protecting, but yet he doesn't kill humans carelessly. Pretty cool what Rick is willing to do to obtain his objectives.

They sacked the writers half way through the second series didnt they?~ as it just wasnt pacey enough.I guess if youre looking for a greater character depth and dialogue The Walking Dead is for you.Its not just a massive gorefest .

Great first episode of the third series, havent seen the second one yet but if it continues in this vein then i will forgive the dull second series.

I know some of you think the second series was good but lets be honest here, this show is a zombie show and they hardly had any in the second series, and when they did show up it was if the producers had made their own `little house on the prairie` and forget all about the zombies so stuck one in at the end,or had one down a well.Nah,the second series was shit.

I just watched the first episode and second episode of the 3rd season. I have to say that this series is not loosing its momentum, which is fantastic to see. I can't believe the characters that we lost, but I am extremely excited to see Michonne.

I have read some of the comics and will work on the rest, but even when it doesn't follow the comics, it stands on its own and does a damn fine job at it. I would have never thought such an awesome TV series could exist and I'm very thankful for it, it really makes my Saturdays/Sundays. (Whenever I can see it if my DVR gets it first.)

I already finished watching season 2 and I got "up to date" with season 3...I agree with you, for me, season 2 was like watching some drama movie.

I must admit that I have developed feelings for this show, though season 2 was too dramatic for me; I kept feeling appealed to the plot... Season three is really nice, so far it has the perfect amount of drama, survival, action and zombies.... I read marilyn manson said he liked the show "not because of the zombies, more because it portrayed how people can actually turn and react in a survival environment"... I think thats exactly what keeps me hooked to the show

And this is exactly what makes the show more than just another zombie gorefest. It concentrates on the people, and tries to portray exactly what would happen in a zombie apocalypse in a more "realistic" manner.

The zombie apocalypse has hit- but you still have all your problems and concerns from before. Yes, there's drama. Because people have drama in their lives. Of course, a lot of horror fans these days are incabale of following character development... and this is what's wrong with horror in general today. They only want shocking moments and gore effects.

This is good solid storytelling. It's the continuing story of a group of real people in a bad situation... with zombies. Not a bunch of stick figures constantly being attacked by zombies.

I can't wait to see what will happen in that town. I was surprised to see a small military group and the outcome. At first I thought the bit with the helicopter was a flashback too. So far this season is a lot better than last. The whole search for the kid thing got old. Even if it was character development with Shane and the others. I guess Shane would basically be similar to the Governor if he survived.

Though, I see a rumor online that SWEARS she's still alive.

Based on the fact they made a definite point of showing that Carol had to practice c-sections...and based on the fact that no one knows where Carol is.

And what if Carl just couldn't bring himself to shoot her???

Carl is the heart of this show. He's the future generation. Without Carl, there's no reminder that this is a society in transition, and the world will exist beyond the lives of the current generation. Without Carl, you lose a lot of depth to the story. I find the changes Carl's been going through fascinating.

The hatred I've seen for this character across the internet really bothers me. Carl's stupid, carl never does what he's told... Holy crap- he's a child! He acts like a child. A society without children is a society without hope.

SPOILER ALERT FOR ANYONE WHO HAS NOT SEEN IT YET: Shame that T-Dog was killed off, at least he went out a hero trying to save Carol. I believe she is still alive, by the way. My wife has a theory that Carl was not able to shoot his mom, who apparently died after getting the primitive C section from Maggie. Carl shot at something, either another lurking zombie, his mom or he wasted a precious bullet (if he didn't shoot Lori). Guess we'll get the answers to these question and maybe we'll see Lori as a zombie! Things are really heating up over with Andrea, Michonne and The Governor. Guess Merle realizes what kind of a control freak the Gov is after all but saying he would forbid Merle from trying to find his brother. Cool stuff.

SPOILER: The mid-season finale was absolutely compelling! I was not expecting the situation in which Daryl would be captured. When Merle lied to the Governor about the demise of Michonne, it was going to come back to haunt him, I just didn't think that it would happen so soon. Originally, I thought Merle and Daryl were going to have to square off in a "good bro vs. bad bro" type scenario, but now it looks like they are going to have to team up (probably with Andrea) to get the heck out of Woodbury and back to the prison with their the lives intact! Cool to see Tyrese finally added to the story line. Axel is kind of creepy, but hopefully harmless to the females in the group. That was a hilarious exchange between Axel and Carol! The best zombie movie made in years... is a TV series!

Great quote, and so true.

And I agree about Season 2, and the character development in general. Some of the most memorable moments of the series are in Season 2 (Sofia and the barn scene comes to mind... Glenn and the well... Rick/Glenn/Hershel in the bar, dealing with the human threat...). I know I would be much less excited each week to see what happens next, if it were not for the characters. The only part of Season 2 that dragged just a tad for me was while Carl was sick in bed, and it seemed to limit the breadth of the storyline a bit. Other than that, I wouldn't change a thing.

Welcome2PrimeTimeBitch - Loved your video, I'll vote for it :)

I'm really enjoying The Walking Dead, there are some really memorable points through season 2 - as people have mentioned further up. The only thing I have noticed is that most of the characters seem really bland.

Daryl seems to be the best character throughout the series so far, he's got the most feeling, and comedic value. He just comes across as a real person more than I've found with any of the others.

The Second Series was a little slower but it went out with a bang at the end and it can't be that bad - we're all still watching!

Oh no, I won't bash you about something you don't like I'm just surprised that it's now, that characters are starting to become less 2D, that you're losing interest. Also, I don't think it's a series that lends itself well to showing what the rest of the population is dealing with, it's all about following a small group of people and their struggles as they try to survive the monsters (both in zombie and living person form) they come across.

As a zombie fan, I love the series so far. I think, idiotic parodies aside, this is still a growing genre within horror that directors/producers have only scratched the surface of.

Hmm, I hope you're right, but I'm afraid the zombie is the new vampire...

If anyone saw the last episode of real Time with Bill Maher, he makes a hilarious point about zombies-he basically said if he is expected to be frightened by them, they have to learn to walk faster, or at least fast enough for him to think they could actually catch him.

For some reason, I find the slow ones much more creepy. Even though sometimes it's pretty idiotic how their victims seems to just stand there and wait to get caught. But visually, I find them so much more spooky. Maybe because it's easier for me to "believe" that a zombie like that could be sneaking in on me behind my back :D

I found the finale... kind of odd. They made this big buildup, saying there was going to be this major battle, and then it was, what- a minute and a half long?

The Governor retreats? Ddn't seem in character for him.

The symbolism of moving the entire town into the prison was pretty moving though. The whole ending seemed a bit rushed.

Thsat said, I found the previous episode far more powerful. Merle's change of heart and then death were so tragic. That was one of the best episodes in the whole series, IMO.

Don't 99% of TV series stick with most of the same cast and location for the entire run? ER didn't move to a new hospital every season. Gunsmoke stayed in the same town and had the same characters for all 50 years of its run (yes, I know that's an exaggeration)

So i watched the finale and although i was pleased with it, i had some gripes. Like NE said i was expecting more of a huge battle with a lot of casualties and instead there was only a quick thing and nobody died. There was no altercation between Michonne and The Governor or Rick and The Governor and I was expecting more of a huge epic conclusion like in the second season but the powerful heartfelt ending did fit well for this season.

I loved the part with Milton and Andrea and once again they were able to make me care about a character when i previously didn't like them as they did with Merle.

My biggest complaint is that season 1 and season 2 changed the dynamic of the show after each season but there still in the prison and the governor is still alive. I'm worried that the fourth season is going to be exactly the same and that they'll just drag it out because it worked before.

I love where they seem to be going with Carl. The transformation of Carl over this season has been great already. A character i hated last season has become one of my favorite and i hope they use him more next season.

Tried to watch but I can't get pass the five minute mark. What can I say I'm just not a zombie guy. I've always found the premise dumb especially in this series. I read the first 7 volumes because my friend lent them to me. It's hard to imagine these people are surviving this world but the armies of the world somehow lost. Most of the zombies are easy to kill.

I don't see a TWD thread, is that because everybody here thinks it's naff as well?

I enjoyed the first series and maybe the next but other than that I lost interest quite a long time ago. The comics are much more enjoyable.

Carl is the key to the entire series. There was so much hate for him when he acted like what he was - a child. He did childish things. Now that he's growing up in an extrordinary situation, people ask wtf is up with Carl?

Just put yourself in his situation, spending his formative years in a violent, decaying world, where fighting for your life, and seeing the people around you die, is a commonplace occurence.

Carl is the future of his society. He's seen his friends transformed into inhuman monsters. He's seen his father do unspeakable things. Yet, he's holding together. Considering what he's been through I think Carl is behaving in a reasonable manner.

I love what they're doing with Carl. His storyline has been interesting even when he was rebelling in the second season. Without that, probably nothing interesting would have happened. I really hope they focus on him a lot more this season as watching a child grow up during the zombie apocalypse should be a good story.

Carl as a character has so much room for development and story. I can see him being a deciding factor of some sort towards the final season , which the writers have said could be past 10+ seasons. Look at it this way, the comics are being made constantly with new stories, and the TV show has not covered even 1/4 of the comics material. Back on topic, I believe Carl is just becoming a product of his surrounding. Killing is everywhere, and as his father being his main influence and Carl knowing who he has killed, I am not surprised he shot the young man in the woods. Since his mom's passing I feel like he feels more compelled to act "grown up" . Although killing a man who is surrendering is a heck of a way to show it .

***SPOILERS***

I thought it was an excellent opening for season four. Obviously a bit of time has gone by and the little touches that showed how relationships have progressed were well done, and we're getting hints of how life in the compound is.

The zombie attack in the store was great, with plenty of gooey gore effects, but one thing kept me wondering:

Why didn't any of those zombies fall through the roof before the party got there?

Anyway- this season looks great!

I actually listened to an old interview that Steven Yeun (Glenn) did at the beginning of the year on my favorite podcast, The Indoor Kids... Holy shit- I think the show has really hit its stride this season. They've found the perfect mix of drama and action, IMO.

SPOILERS

There were some really emotional moments in this episode. The father's good-bye to his daughters, and especially Michone's moment with the baby. This is storytelling at its best. That one moment told us more about her character than everything else we've seen.

Also, Rick's moment where he burns his shirt was so symbolic...

Yah, I've read that article. Everything Romero doesn't like about the show is what makes it great. It's not a Romero style film. We get that. Ok so Hershel is getting close to surpassing Rick to be my favorite character after last nights episode.

Spoilers in white

Ok so I wasn't really happy about Carol getting kicked out last week but now that I think about it more I understand why she did it but just because her intentions were honorable doesn't take away that she straight up murdered 2 people. I wasn't quite sure if Rick was going to be upfront with the group about what happened and I'm glad that he told the truth because if he hadn't I'm sure that would have come around to bite him in the ass down the road.

Also, heck yes Rick/Carl spraying down zombies was awesome as was Maggie's storming into the sick ward. But the best part of this episode has to be the Governor, I was not expecting that at the end and I love that this show had everyone asking where the Gov went after season 3 and then in season 4 tries it's best to make you forget about him while shoving zombies and sickness at us and then when you least expect it, look who is just chillin outside the prison like a fox scoping out a hen house lol.

What do you guys think Tyresse is going to do when he finds out it was Carol, do you guys think he will want to hunt her down and kill her or do you think he will be satisfied with Rick's justice?

I can't wait for next week, this season is turning out to be pretty damn good so far.

....Um the fuck was that...I was so excited for the Governor's return and now I'm kinda bummed out that they decided to redeem the Governor. I loved watching his decent into madness last season and I was excited to see a season with the Governor unleashed. I was wanting to see if they could make a character that is more of a monster than the actual monsters. It would have shown that man can be more evil than flesh eating zombies. The kids in this show piss me off so bad, the little girl at the prison is an idiot and the Governor's Penny 2.0 is just as bad. Also it's like over a year into the zombie apocalypse and you still haven't figured out that to kill a walker you have to shot it in the head. I don't know what I'm gonna do if the Governor goes to the prison group looking for shelter for him and his new groupies. This isn't Merle, Merle didn't slaughter 20 people for no reason, nor did he assault Maggie, nor did he cause Andrea's death and Milton's. This dude is a psycho and he needs to stay that way.

Yeah, I noticed that too. I had no idea Morrissey was British until I first saw him on Talking Dead. I was really surprised hearing Lauren Cohan talk for the first time too, because she sounded kind of half British half American. Then I read she was born in Philadelphia and lived in New Jersey as a child, but moved to the UK.

Agree! And the sad part is...from the very beginning of making this video I was saving Rick's moving speech ("We can all let it go...we've all done worst kind of things...we can change!"), and Governor & Hershell's epic death scenes for its very end, thinking to add them on the ending guitar solo. But frustratingly I couldn't able to properly mix Rick's speech with that classic guitar tune & I wasn't satisfied by that; as I guess there's still plenty of things I've yet to learn about editing. Though it's seemingly boring but I've found it pretty tricky & very interesting thing to play with. ::smile::

Unquestionably the show got an awesome cast and specially Mr. Lincoln is becoming one of my very favorite contemporary actors but I must admit Mr. Morrissey as The Governor was so terrifyingly believable that whenever he was doing terrible things to others I was just expecting when time comes I really wanted this man to die an outstanding, horrible death! I have to disagree. We knew all along that Michonne had to take him out, and she finally got her chance to stick that sword through his heart, just as he was about to finish off Rick. I cheered! And then when the other woman came along (can't remember her character name) it was an added bonus. She needed to do that to make up for being taken in by him so easily.

It was a totally satisfying ending to such an evil character to me. In the end, he was just a man, a very evil man, but just as vulnerable and mortal as any man is this screwed up zombie world.

I am chomping at the bit for the rest of the season. I want to see what Carol is up to, and I KNOW THAT BABY IS NOT DEAD! SHE CAN'T BE!

So, I realise I'm way late to the party, but I have spent the last 3 weeks watching the first 3 seasons.
Ive wanted to watch this show for a while, but I rarely invest the time into watching tv shows like this
and either stop watching after a few episodes or never get round to watching them in the first place.

Spoilers ahead although I imagine everyone but me has seen this show by now anyway.

Season One

Pretty much flawless. Characters dont really get a chance to become too fleshed out due to the story moving along at quite a pace, but some strong acting gives a good feel for who the characters are. Everything feels genuine and intense which helps keep a sense of urgency and anticipation even when the zombie action is taking a back seat. High point? First episode was stellar, loved the character of Morgan and really hoping he features in later seasons.

Season Two

Slower paced with some new characters and some surprising exits. Think the new characters add a great extra dynamic and its interesting to see the characters start to evolve. I'd like to see more of some of the lesser characters from the original group. Felt like Dale wasn't used enough and the relationship between Andrea and Dale could've been developed more. Feel the same way about Lori who at times only seems to exist within the show to further distance Rick and Shane, although at least the character is aware of this, even if it is a writing mechanic to increase tension. I'd have liked to see Lori a little darker and more obviously self serving, kind've like a Lady Macbeth type of character. High points? Didn't see the finale playing out the way it did, some big shocks. Loving Maggie and Hershel and the developing closeness between Daryl and Carol. Low Points? Don't really 'get' Andrea. She'd make more sense if she was 16-18, right now her character seems unintentionally naive and capable of the insanely stupid.

Season Three

More surprising exits but a few welcome returns too.... Pacing moves up a gear from the outset showing the group developing into more battle hardened survivors. I think the episodes where Rick distances himself from the group really allow the story to flow and other characters to become more integral. The Governor is a great addition and there have been some quality episodes and story lines developing. Michonne is a good addition to the cast, but Andrea continued to annoy right to the end.

Its great that we got to see a little more of Morgans story, finally. For me, I feel like two of the most subtly important characters in the show are Morgan and Carl. Without these two its really difficult to tell the story and put the world into context. Carl is more obviously relevant as he is Ricks son and the youngest (active) cast member, but I feel like Morgan is almost as integral because he is the perfect character to represent 'everyone else'. Morgan represents all the people who are just like Rick and the group of survivors we are following. He's a good guy trying to cope with an extreme situation and his life mirrors Ricks in so many ways. His journey might be different or remain untold, but he helps remind the show and the audience that this is about real people, not super heroes and villains. He was there at the start of Ricks story and I hope he is there at the end too.

Also, I want to add that I think the show does a great job of not being too heavy handed with moral signposts. The 'good guys' aren't all wearing white hats and the 'bad guys' aren't all wearing black hats. Sometimes they both do things that might seem out of character for a hero/ villain and the show doesn't try to guide the audience through what is right or wrong.

Haven't watched any of season 4, although I've caught glimpses of spoilers from the shows that have already aired. I'll probably just wait for season 4 to finish its run before watching it, so I can watch them in one run. I'm too impatient for this one episode a week thing!

I could say more but I've already said way too much.

I think that would have robbed the characters of the cathartic nature of his death. If he turned he would no longer be the governor, he'd just be another walker, and his final end would be that of just another zombie.

Kind of reminds me how a certain character in Land of the Dead got his revenge, because he was a zombie when it happened it took away a lot of the emotional impact of the moment.
