The SyFy network has greenlit another ‘Battlestar Galactica’ prequel series, even though it’s still airing its current prequel, ‘Caprica,’ Slashfilm.com is reporting.
The new two hour pilot, titled ‘Battlestar Galactica: Blood and Chrome,’ will follow a young William Adama as he serves as a Viper pilot during the first Cylon war. He is ordered to serve during a top secret, but dangerous, mission during the war with the Cylon robots.
‘Blood and Chrome’ is rumored to focus more on the action that was customary during the original re-imaged series SyFy ran for four seasons, starting in 2004. William, who was portrayed by Edward James Olmos in the original ‘Battlestar Galactica,’ was a legendary military leader on that show. He helped the human race survive during a battle with the Cylons, who destroy their home.
William, one of the more popular characters in the original series, also appears on ‘Caprica.’ However, his father Joseph plays more of a major role on that series, which hasn’t officially been given a second season yet.
‘Blood and Chrome’ will take place between the two existing shows, but there’s not word yet on how much the three will be interwoven.
