These are my favorite films that are almost (but maybe not quite) horror movies:

War Of The Worlds (original)
Young Poisoner's Handbook
Zodiac
Soylent Green
Dolores Claiborne
A Clockwork Orange
Blow Out
The Arrival
Miracle Mile
After Hours

What other films have a lot of horror in them, but are usually not considered horror movies?

I'm watching one now called A Trip With the Teacher, some exploitation film from the
70's. A group full of gals and their teacher take a trip by school bus, and they encounter 3 guys on the same route, 2 of the guys are crazy, one a dangerous killer. The 3rd guy very nice man who is seemingly the gals only hope. I like the twist at the end.

Also there is Lazer Blast!! I'm waiting for this to arrive in the mail soon!

What a great choice. From the original music by Tangerine Dream and the use of classical to punctuate the violence in society its at the top of my all time favs. Its a horror film but not a traditional one (IMO). Its the George Orwell (Big Brother) premise. Malcolm Mcdowell, Stanley Kubrick and Anthony Burgess proves to be wicked combo.

Ill meet you at the Karova for a milk.

Im hoping that someone will take a suggestion I have made before. One of the other borderline films is Wait Until Dark. Although the star power is very heavy. This film will keep you on the edge of your seat. Its a slow burn movie that has a great scare somewhere in the movie. You have Audrey Hepburn and Alan Arkin(plus other familiar actors) You have a script from Robert Bloch (he also wrote Psycho) A haunting soundtrack. You shouldnt miss it. Its on dvd.

It was Wendy Carlos who did the music for A Clockwork Orange.

Wait Until Dark is pretty good (though I tend to think it's a little overrated). Alan Arkin was creepy!http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_gT3FHjHQKFs/Sk4lSUbJqSI/AAAAAAAAAl0/4AjsIs9WYD0/s400/alan.jpg

Hard Candy
Frailty

Two high quality flicks, not out and out horror by any stretch but not far off.

Sorry about the music. I dont know where I got that idea from.

Hard Candy, Frailty and An American Crime are tough unrelentling movies.
A triple bill like that would be brutal. You guys have great taste in flix.
Im glad to see that others have seen Wait Until Dark.

Would "Law Abiding Citizen" make it as a horror film? Or is it already?

I've only seen Cape Fear. Who's better: Mitchum or DeNiro?http://www.leofuchs.com/images/thepictures/Icons/Robert_Mitchum_Portrait_Leo_Fuchs_A07_021.jpghttp://unrealitymag.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/11/cape.jpg

Mitchum..

The story about what he did when he found his wife cheating is just chilling..

Deniro's version is sorta like a cross between Cady and Harry Powell.
