No other Prom Night does it quite like this one.
Not only does this one have a great soundtrack, but also great actors, in which, brings in the question:
What are the creepiest scenes in films that have stuck with you since childhood? And/or that of a scene that always stood out or left an impression?
For me there are so many, but for starters, it's Prom Night 80'. The great disco tunes in Prom Night playing as you see the empty hallways of the school, knowing someone is out for revenge. That scene always struck me as one of the creepiest, errie scenes in a horror movie.

Since childhood? It would have to be Kane's demise in Alien.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=giTZlxjbSjw

I remember Alien. That is John Hurt isn't it? I don't think I ever saw this in an actual theater.
This is another one that has gets me everytime.
I saw this for the first time on television in the 80's. I'll never be the same

Wow, someone close to my age (not too many on this forum):D. Disco had died by the time I was a teenager, but then we had Duran Duran and Culture Club (not much of an improvement).http://www.swotti.com/tmp/swotti/cacheZHVYYW4GZHVYYW4=RW50ZXJ0YWLUBWVUDC1NDXNPY0JHB MRZ/imgduran%20duran1.jpghttp://www.onlineseats.com/upload/concerts/1795_con_culture-club-1.jpg

I grew up on Duran Duran, Blondie, The Fixx, and yeah, I was still listening to Supertramp when the 80's came along. I was into Heaven 17 and all those new wave bands. and also rock bands like Journey and Loverboy. I still love those.
I went into a heavy metal faze in my teen years.. I was a Lita Ford wannabe for a while.
Nowdays, I can listen to about anything except for rap

80's music,, "not much of an improvement"???!!
I think the moment the 90's came along, from that era til now, especially this era,,, music was and is still on a downhill spiral.

There's a lot of cheesy classics from the 80s that I love to listen to. Some of my favorites:
Everybody Have Fun Tonight - Wang Chung
Working For The Weekend - Loverboy
Love Plus One - Haircut 100
Red Skies - The Fixx
You Spin Me Round (Like A Record) - Dead Or Alive
Cars - Gary Numan
Pop Muzik - M
Warm Leatherette - The Normal
She Blinded Me With Science - Thomas Dolby
We Close Our Eyes - Go West

Are we talking Top 40 or music in general?
Top 40 has been in a downward spiral since the Disco era.
As for music in general, I was so glad when the hair band era ended in the late 80s/early 90s and bands like Metallica were getting a chance.

Yep, those are still fun to listen to. Even Blister in the Sun and Dancing In Heaven.
We Close Our Eyes always stands out because it was one of the songs for Argento's Bava Demons 1985.
Going back to what I said on music I can listen to except for rap. I can't listen to that or any speed metal.

You were glad the hair band era ended? why? lol
I really enjoyed the old stuff by Motley Crue, Ratt, Cinderella, Kiss, Warrant etc.
I never liked Metallica, Sabbath, Megadeth. Those were way to harsh for my taste!

I used to think Motley Crue's Shout at the Devil was pretty rough, but looking back, it's funny because that is nothing crazy anymore compared to the crazy stuff out now days!

Do you like horror movie scores (ie: John Carpenter, Jerry Goldsmith etc.) or classical music with a dark, gothic theme to it?

I do like horror movies music scores. In fact, I've been seeking out a lot more of the obscure horror music scores like Rock N Roll Nightmare, Video Dead, Killer Workout, Invitation the Hell.
Imagine those on a haunted Halloween CD instead of the same mainstream stuff!
what are your faves?
BTW, who is that on your avatar?
Mine is of Wildman from Final Exam when he was razzing on Gary about stealing test papers!
Yes, Wildman is HOT!!!! :)

My avatar is the sadistic schoolgirl Irene from The House That Screamed (the actress that played her really stole the show).
As for my favorite horror soundtracks; I'll direct you to this thread:http://www.horror.com/forum/showthread.php?t=54850

This isn't a music score, more of part of the soundtrack.
My fave song from House at the Edge of the Park

Another fave movie and soundtrack song Jessica's Theme from Beyond the Door. Though this film had a lengthy soundtrack. I think "Jessica's Theme" was one of the music scores for Beyond the Door as well.

The one from Halloween II, and III were both nicely done music scores!
