Young Christians Beth and Steve, a gospel singer and her cowboy boyfriend, leave Texas to preach door-to-door in Scotland . When, after initial abuse, they are welcomed with joy and elation to Tressock, the border fiefdom of Sir Lachlan Morrison, they assume their hosts simply want to hear more about Jesus. How innocent and wrong they are...

Shooting begins April 10 in Dumfries, Scotland.

Glad to hear more details about this. I heard about Cowboys for Christ awhile ago and thought it would just kind of fade out.

The very least it would be is better than the godawful Nicholas Cage remake.

I'm really excited for this one, it's hard not to get your expectations up with a movie like this.

The fact that Christopher Lee's in it is the big bonus. Although he considered The Wicker Man to be one of his best films, so in a way it's unusual that he's in what seems to be a new interpretation of it, presumably playing the same type of character. Though I know he would also like to be in a remake of The Devil Rides Out if that were to happen.

As interesting as the plot sounds, "Cowboys for Christ" is just a stupid title for a movie. I'd be wary of watching a movie with a title that retarded.

The long-planned sequel - though it's more of a remake - to "The Wicker Man", "Cowboys for Christ", based on a screenplay written by the director of the original 1973 horror Robin Hardy, has been scrapped.

They just couldn't get the money together.

According to STV.TV, a statement from Dumfries and Galloway council confirmed producers had cancelled the shoot due to last minute difficulties with finance.

Councillor Gill Dykes described the news as "bitterly disappointing", adding that around 90 crew and cast had already booked into local accommodation for the four-week shoot.

The film was set to star Christopher Lee, Joan Collins and Paul Wesley.

Sorry Wicker Man fans. :(

Due to be released in the U.K. sometime this year, The Wicker Tree is a follow-up to the 1973 classic The Wicker Man. Directed by Robin Hardy (the director of the original) and recasting Christopher Lee as Lord Summerisle, I look forward to this film immensely.
