i have been house and dog-sitting for three weeks now, and tonight is my last night here. That said, i was sitting on the couch when i heard a door open. i went over to check it out and the bathroom door was partially opened, which i know was closed. i left it as is. About a half hour later and i hear the door again. i go to check it out and it is now closed. The dog was outside. Nobody really knows the address where i am, so its not some one playing tricks. So then i bring the dog in and feed her, only she will not walk past the bathroom door to get to the food; she wants to eat, but has to walk by the bathroom door to get to her bowl. Instead this 140 pound Great Dane walks towards her food bowl, looks up at the bathroom door, and then turns tail into the living room. She did it about ten times. Hollywood perfect, i love how the last night that i am here things start to get creepy. Merci beaucoup.

Wow, the does seem very creepy. I've spent the last 2 days all alone in my house and the noises in the loft are starting to bug me. We keep the loft hatch open and I swear I hear footsteps on the steps...

I know you folks is scared, but...I am enjoying this thread quite a bit. Nothin' like creepy housesitting to rattle the nerves! Great thread. Lots of atmosphere.

Did someone die in the grip of a powerful rage previously in the house?

If the answer is yes, going home is not going to help you one bit, Derek.

A poem to cheer you up after you reach home, Derek...

The Closet

Silently now you climb the stairs
Time for rest, forget your cares
You shut your window
To stop the breeze
The sweet sweet slumber is all you need

Quickly now you shut your light
And hurry into bed
Rested on the cloud like pillow
That sits below your head

With out a care you drift off
Deeply into sleep
Dreams of laughter and happiness
And money so knee deep

But little do you know my friend
What watches you, you can't see
Nor can sweet mother,
Or dear father
Or the likes of all you three

Your eyes shoot open, something's wrong
Is it real or just a dream?
Your closet door is open
Whatever could it be?

Before you slept you closed the door
It was closed Oh so tight
But now its open, open wide
Something isn't right

Could it be mother?
Or maybe father?
That opened the wooden door?
Unlike you they are deep in sleep
And wanting for some more

Slowly now you begin to rise
And get out of your bed
You feel the room get hot
And sweat pours from your head

You know something is watching
But watching you from where
In the darkness of the closet
Boy I tell you now...beware!

Just try not to think of the film Paranormal Activity. That film hasn't had an effect on me until now when I'm in a house by my self late at night and doors are moving.

And Nova! Not cool! :(

Thanks for the poem, V, as it will surely help with tonight's slumber... Another thing that i forgot to mention cuz i have become rather used to it. Whenever i walk away from the dog i get the sense that something is lunging at me from behind. It used to startle me such that i would whirl around each time, but now i am rather accustomed to it. Still pretty unsettling. As a dog lover, and vet, it is not like i am uncomfortable around the pooches. As well, this dog is not aggressive in the least. Dang, now i am just creeping myself out.

ps- yeah, that Paranormal Activity bed scene has been crossing my mind more and more.

hey?

hey ferret?

If you hear someone call your name...
don't answer it.

It's one of the major tricks ghosties have of trapping you....FOREEEEVVERR
