View Full Version : Remakes...

Okay, I'm not a fan of remakes. I hate them, especially when they mess with a great film. However, some movies could use an updated version. Willard is a good example of this. What movie would you pick to remake if you could?

Scarecrow slayer. I'm serious I loved the first one but the second one was just really bad. They could take out the crappy computer effects and put practical ones in there, and they could get better actors, I can stand bad acting but this acting was so bad I could not take it anymore. And the over acting really sucked like when the girl laughed her ass off at her own dumb ass joke, damn bitch almost blew my speakers.

LOL damn they went up on the price since I bought it... I bought it for 22 bucks last month.. That is still cheaper than paying over 50 for it.. Man you got to get this movie... It is a foreign film and it is hard to come by... trust me it will be hard to rent it.. It will be cut up like a mother fucker if you do find it... all the best parts will be cut out of it....if I had a recorder I would make a copy for you just so you could see it..

Ya know, here's a bad thought.......
Ritualistic can put his movie on his 'puter and get on some p2p type server then Avenger can download it.....but if ya only have a dial-up like me (unfortunately) it can take days to get it.....it's just a thought, of course.....and I know that's the bad thing to do politically wise...........my apologies to those who don't believe in using p2p!!!!:o

Sure, but only if Alice Cooper was still in it! That's the main thing I LOVED about it! Cause I grew up listening to him! He was, is and always will be Cool!!
ritualistic, sorry, no offense meant! That just makes ya cooler! Another girl!:D
ok, maybe i'd like to see Blair Witch remade! Better quality filming, show a bit more, but not too much, I'm not wanting it to be a gore fest, just more interesting and captivating! Scarier!!!:)

A Thing remake would suck why would you mess with somthing thats great. They would just use cgi creatures, and The Thing is already a remake of a black and whit one titled "the thing from another world" but the alien was completly diffirent.

OK ok ... bad example of a possible remake .... i actually was meant 2say, a sequal for the thing would be the go!!
but since a six hour mini-series is getting done, NO NEED!!
i agree, re-working a re-work,, may not b such a good idea ...
i had no idea bout the one from the other world (although, B/W, well, well b4 my time,) and my horror knowledge is not extensive enough, but after hangn at horror.com 4 a week or 2, its expanding!!:o

Good to hear that your horror knowledge is expanding. But they have "re-worked a re-work": Invasion of the Body Snatchers. It's been remade twice and Hollywood is giving it another go soon.

Well, IMO, it's the greatest science-fiction movie ever made. The original film still holds up quite well today. I really don't see a reason for another remake, but you know Hollywood. On the other hand, sometimes remakes turn out to be cool. We'll see.

whats :: IMO ?? 4give my lack of forum termanology ... i am learning though....
Is it true about Dawn of the Dead getting a Remake??
coz, generally, the whole idea of remaking gives me the shits...
I STRONGLY reckon that originality is a must !!:p
however, 2 b honest and fair to the remakers, if they don't go out and give it a complete Hollywood Makeover, and keep its identity, it can sometimes work. Its always hard 2 "do one better" than a classic. U have 2 start 2 wonder if some1 remakes a movie coz they cant think of anything betta temselves and they want 2 cash in on its past fame...... OR if the whole story is made to adapt more to today's society. being that most original and entertaining horror is around 10-20 yrs old, I think that remaking a REAL classic for the sake of today's horror fans, and 2 get them 2 even give 'oldies' a chance,, remakes will continue 2 be remade...
its tha Reworked, remake, thats been re-made 4 the 10th time that should be put in the cabin and slashed....

i live in denver colorado and having done the math on a zombie apocalypse (hey look at me im super-dork), i think that the rockies would be an excellent stronghold. my main motivation for using the mountains as cover would be that the bodies of the zombies would deterierate faster in the summer and freeze in the winter, not a whole lot of easily acessable areas for them to gather in, plus i feel at home in the mountains. i think taking a road trip to the coast, finding a boat, and getting to an uninhabited island would be quite the risk seeing the area one would have to cross from CO. And honestly i dont really think a zombie apocalypse could last longer than a year maybe 1 1/2 tops. if youve ever seen how fast the human body decays when left out its pretty obvious that zombies would literally just fall apart after a few months.
yeah i know its pathetic. hey being a dork is the best.

i saw zombie many years ago and i must say it was quite enjoyable. a zombie fights a shark? fucking metal. oh yeah and that final shot of zombies over taking the brooklyn bridge was hot.

Speaking of Zombie, I heard a RUMOR that Paul Anderson was going to do a big budget remake of the Fulci classic. However, I heard this a loooong time ago so it was probably just a RUMOR!!!
Sean1605
10-25-2003, 09:57 AM
I like Fulci to an extent, but as Ritualistic pointed out a lot of people find his work to be slower, myself included. But he has one of the most memorable shots in horror movie history with that splintered piece of wood.
Argento on the other hand goes into more oddball stuff, but in the same sense as Fulci there's just something, I can't put my finger on it, but something I don't like about them as much as I do a lot of American horror.
And fuck Paul Anderson, I'm still mad he's going to fuck up Alien vs Predator, on top of me being mad he fucked up RE, and that Event Horizon got so much praise but I found it so boring.

I actually have no problem at all with remakes. If they're done righ, then mre power to the director. The new TCM remake was incredible IMO, and I'd also like to see an Excorsist remake. Maybe a more scarier/darker Poltergeist remake as well.

Anyone else just read the last page of a thread and reply? I do all the time.
But catching up:
Is Victor Salva still doing the next Invasion remake? I know he was slated to, and now he also is doing that WW 2 sci-fi nazi/alien movie or whatever, so I don't know what he's up to. Definitely a strange guy though.
A six hour mini-series of the Thing? Sci-Fi does some weird stuff...*watches Stargate SG-1*
During a zombie apocalypse Alcatraz would be the best place to go. They have this big canon there that was put there like hundreds of years ago to fight off the French I believe and later the Japanese...it can shoot like 360 around the island. But you could rip out the canon and put a giant fucking machine gun in there.
Plus, depending on what movie you watch, zombies aren't very good swimmers. But in most movies they're not very good anything.
And still, P.W.S Anderson can go screw himself with a scalding rod.
