What are some of the things that you've always hated, or liked that wouldn't seem "cool" around other horror fans.

Myself...

I never did like Army of Darkness. Evil Dead 1 and 2 I loved! But for some reason never liked Army of Darkness.

I feel the same way about the Hellraiser series.

I also think that Dario Argento is highly over rated.

um... I'm sure there's more. How about everyone else??

Even though I'm not a big fan of the remakes, I'm pretty curious about Don't be afraid of the dark. The original was awesome. And I would love to se a remake of Let's scare Jessica to death.

I thought Friday the 13th [original] was quite dull and boring. And Jason in the sequels is too much like Michael.

Really? Last I heard they were canceling it because of all that Unico, Italian American stereotyping jazz. Lucky us I guess, and the rest of the world can just go on complaining about them.

Does anyone but me also think the Carrie was a horrible movie?

Doc Faustus
02-01-2010, 03:18 PM
I think of it as a weak adaptation with some good performances.

In the pleasure category, I'd like to stand up for Glee. It's smart, often very dark, deals with atypical high school kids and has a great cast including Jane Lynch in the best role she's been given yet. Also, it brings some much needed spectacle back to television.

I don't have any secret pleasures/dislikes. I like and hate what I want and could give a shit if I lose "cred" or whatever. Most of the flicks I like people hate (esp. the 80s action stuff).

Oh, on topic posts. I almost forgot what they looked like.

I secretly hate The Sopranos and Entourage. I also hate comedy politics shows like Colbert Report, and to a lesser extent, The Daily Show.

I secretly love the show "Jersey Shore".

I agree, though I can't tell whether or not you're being sarcastic. :o

I also secretly love Lady GaGa. There I said it.

I thought Friday the 13th [original] was quite dull and boring. And Jason in the sequels is too much like Michael.

Definitely agreed. I also find the following incredibly overrated:

Nightmare on Elm Street
Candyman
Hellraiser - Can't STAND this film. It should have just been about the Cenobites and that is all.

X2 i hate how all these jerk offs have to put there GF or wifes in, Kevin smith Judd apatow ROB FUCKING ZOMBIE i feel its pretentious. It gets to the point where you have the same cast for 4 or 5 movies in a row. So...................
Dear Rob,
if you are reading this put Sheri moon back in her kennel, fill up her water dish walk back inside and not try to remake anything not even a taco from last night.

Love Drew.

I agree. He is a talentless wanker. He is like that certain band. Who everyone has to say they like. out of fear of being ostracized by their fellow music lovers.
He should have just stuck to making. His little indie films. Because when he tries to do remakes of the classic. It is so easy to compare him to the greats.

Here about a month ago, I won tickets to see Rob Zombie from a radio station. I was trying to decide if I even wanted to go... I like the old white zombie stuff and the first Rob Zombie album, but after these movies and all of this shitty music I didn't want to go.

But, my wife and I decided to go because we didn't have anything else to do. I looked up some clips on youtube and he was horrible and out of breath half of the time. But the show was actually really good! He was in shape and put on a really good show. I was surprised!

But the Blob? Really? haha come on...

I love everything that Eli Roth and Rob Zombie make...

I do not "love" Nightmare on Elm Street...Wes Craven gets on my nerves

I think "The Thing" is John Carpenters best movie ever !!

Those are not really secrets I guess...but the Roth and RZ thing usually gets me yelled at!

I don't really like Giallo cinema. Giallo films that I've watched and found tedious and loud:

Suspira (although at times it's beautiful I admit)
Tenebre
Don't Torture a Duckling
House by the Cemetery
Lizard in Women's Skin

So I've tried. I can say that I've TRIED. But they just don't click for me. By that token I also did not care for Cemetary Man.

...

Though oddly enough I loved Fulci's Zombie II.

Elvis_Christ
02-10-2010, 06:25 PM
Probably because Zombie isn't a Giallo flick. I wouldn't put Suspiria or House By The Cemetery in that category either. But fair enough the Italian stuff isn't for everyone :)

... in fact a lot of it is just plain awful!

Oh really? I thought that Suspira was considered a quintessential "Giallo" film, though I can see how House By The Cemetery isn't one of the genre...

Maybe I'm just pigeon-holing all Italian directorial work as "Giallo"...

(well, not ALL Italian work... Just all Argento and Fulci...)

Yah, but Chrono doesn't even like HG Lewis.

It's true. I don't. Though I figured that that was a mark of taste. :p

Suspiria is more of a supernatural/witchcraft flick to me. Sure it has elements here and there of the Giallo films but is a completely different creature.
