The Misfits ('77-'83) Appreciation Thread

A horror forum isn't complete without a thread dedicated to the godfathers of the horror punk/rock genre! This however is a thread dedicated to the Danzig era lineup(s). The Misfits have been my favorite band ever since I can remember. They were the ones that got me into horror, other kinds of music & the macabre. My favorite album to date is still Walk Among Us, with Static Age being a close second. My favorite song would be Skulls. Here's a brief synopsis on one of the greatest bands of all-time!

The Misfits are an American rock band often recognized as the progenitors of the horror punk subgenre, blending punk rock and other musical influences with horror film themes and imagery. Founded in 1977 in Lodi, New Jersey by singer and songwriter Glenn Danzig, the group had a fluctuating lineup during its first six years with Danzig and bassist Jerry Only as the only consistent members. During this time they released several EPs and singles and, with Only's brother Doyle as guitarist, the albums Walk Among Us (1982) and Earth A.D./Wolfs Blood (1983), both considered touchstones of the early-1980s hardcore punk movement. The Misfits disbanded in 1983 and Danzig went on to form Samhain and then Danzig.

danzig WAS the misfits. they went down the toilet after he left. jerry only is a great bassist, but a terrible singer imo. my fav songs would have to be die, die my darling, mommy can i go out and kill tonight?, and hybrid moments

Graves sucked. The Jerry Only fronted shit is average too. The over mechandising of the band is embarrasing...

They were a great band and Earth A.D is one of the best HC albums period.

Samhain were fucking cool too.

Grave's solo stuff is very good, especially his acoustic stuff.

I saw some of that on Youtube like a slow version of Dig up her bones, wasnt too bad. Danzig's " Killer wolf " is the best shit ever if youre trying to fuck a goth chick. Hybrid moments is out of this world!!! Best song ever, along with Mommy can i go out and kill tonight!!!

Saw them a year back. Was high disappointed. Then again I saw the shitty Jerry Only Misfits so I didnt expect much.
