i have avoided ipods .. although most people swear by them.
i use a ps2 for music and here's why ..
i like the ergonomics - the weight, feel, design..
but most important ..
NO FUCKING I-TUNES.
if i want to drag mp3 files onto it - thats all i do - no bullshit converting with i-tunes.
its the main reason why i'll never buy one.

But my phone works fine. In fact I like my phone because I can just drag and drop my files without having to worry about any crappy DRM. Urge is right, iTunes sucks. I hate touchscreen but I guess I have to deal with it until people stop incorporating this fad BS into my gadgets. I'll probably use my PSP for music a lot too when I finally pick it up.

I own one (came with the Macbook so thats the only reason) If your looking for just music go with a nano or another MP3. The apps can be hit and miss, some are great but alot are total shit. The screen is pretty nice for viewing movies, though easy to break. Mine fell 3 inches and is cracked, granted on concrete. Overall its a nice device. I enjoy it.

I have an iphone, which is similar to an ipod touch but with a phone and camera in it.
It is a great system. Sure, itunes has its faults. For me, every now and then the library file corrupts and when I open itunes, I suddenly have no music. I have to restore the library file to a previous version and all is good. Total pain in the arse.
However, the user interface is great. The apps store is also good. There are many free apps, and lots of very cheap apps. They really increase the usefulness of the device. Games, utilities, etc. Great stuff.
It is not perfect, but with regards to the devices that I have tried, I haven't found one better.

If you just want to play mp3s with minimal fuss, get a half decent brand mp3 player - all will have usb interface and a simple drop and drag open folder system.
You wanna have to "learn" get an i-product - if you're not planning on using any of the applications exclusive to them, then why bother?
That's all it is for me.
Thanks for the replies. I already have a 2 gig IPOD NANO......I have no problems with I-Tunes..... just looking for something that does a little more. In order of importance.....music/internet/games/movies-tv.
The new PSP-GO Looks pretty good but that seems more geared towards games.
I found this video on you-tube that kind of made up my mind

I've had several iPods and love them. The two nanos are my girls now and I upgraded my touch last year. I still like iTunes, a few bugs here and there though.

Itunes is pretty simple to me. I have never had any problems. Converting has never been a problem for me.
