Everybody talks about what doesn't scare them in movies. What would scare you?? I think thoughs of us that have seen alot of horror movies have become some what Desensitized.

that's a tough one but a good question....
i see movies only as entertainment. yes, we as a society have been de-sensitized to a degree i'm sure. scary ppl scare me. like unpredictable stalker types. i hate the not knowing and feeling insecure, like someone could hurt me. i don't like feeling vulnerable.

What scares me are very real possibilities. When someone makes a movie and afterwerds I can sit and say " shit this could really happen" it scares the crap out of me. Also anything with demons and devils in it because im more sure of their existence then say vampires or werewolves. Horror movies about psycotics also scare me because we all know that crazy people are out there...shit their soon to be typing in this very thread.....and they could snap at any moment.

I'll agree that the real possibilities are more un-nerving, i.e. "Henry Portrait of a Serial Killer" or even to some extent "Last House on the Left" as far as the abduction scenerio. These things can and do happen all too often. There's just a lot of sick mofo's out there. As far as scares in a horror movie, I'll have to say a good ghost story [ and there ain't too many of them ] will give me the creeps. Also , along the same lines, floating people .......the kid at the window in "Salems Lot", the first possessed girl in "Evil Dead"...you get the picture, also white eyes, kinda like evis's new avatar.

You know what realy scares me those men they call "feeders" that find a fat woman and then feed her up to like 850 pounds so they can live out some wierd fetish. Then they spend there time rubbing oil into her fat too stop her bursting and try and prevent bed soars. They even have sites dedicated to learning how to feed them liquidised fat through funnels and tubes!
TELL ME THATS NOT CREEPY!!!!!!

I was really creeped out by Session Nine, because I saw it at the same time that the Andrea Yates story was in the news. It really made me wonder if there sometimes is something that can get inside of a person at a weak moment that makes them do something unthinkable. I have had glimpses of these things at times in my life, and wonder if there is something to it.
Don't worry, I'm not a psycho!
It just leaves you thinking about normal people who suddenly snap. That movie spooked me for a week. I had to see it again the following weekend to dislodge it from my head.
This will always be one of my favorite horrors even though it is not the goriest.

Tough but good one...
What scares me... You know, splatter scenes certainly don't, but I can get pretty scared by clever uses of mood and soundtrack...
Now, talking about something a lil more specific... Hell, I don't really know... I generally feel scared by movies that portray corrupted/possessed/evil children... As we see, for example, in The Ring (AND Ringu), The Omen, Children of the Corn...

YES! kids are the creepiest in ghost movies ect. I don't know why though exactly. Like the twin girls in The Shining, or an old movie called The Other, about a boy with a dead brother..........
Plaguewind
04-15-2004, 07:45 PM
Well, talking about twins (or at least couples of children who kinda look like each other)... It's a kinda frequent thing, isn't it? The Shining, Sleepy Hollow (it's not REALLY horror but still...) etc etc... Scary!

the worst part of the ring was the centipede thing. i just really hate bugs
i foudn myself in a lizard convention once (i mustve been hallucinating) well anyway they had these HUGE ass centipedes. i mean it was like ugly #6. so nasty i HAD to look at it. but yeh i was loking at it and the guy behind the thing kept staring at me and asking me if i wanted to touch it. i swear if he put it on me i would fainted.

i have to agree with u on spiders..daddy long legs dont scare me that much but other spiders do
the butter flies thing dont scare me the only butterfly that would scare me i seen one time it had red legs and the legs were pretty thick
centipedes freak me out too
We're thinking about throwing down on a pet Tarantula AND a GIANT AFRICAN MILLIPEDE, something tells me you wont be stopping by our place anytime soon lol.

Wow you guys post fast!
Yes the twins thing is popular....... they know.
Never liked butterflies. Colored moths to me, and did you know, symbolize death in some countries.
I'm ok with spiders since Charlotte's Web. Love that spider!
My cats catch centipedes all the time in the basement and bring them upstairs. These are PURE horror!
Hate pitch black dark! I feel very clostrophobic.
* Nice that there is another human besides me that is not in love with butterflies!
Plaguewind
04-15-2004, 08:11 PM
Well, kitty, it depends on how twins are displayed. My lil cousin's a child, and does not scare me. When I remember Regan from the Exorcist, on the other hand...
Possessed people as a whole tend to scare me...
And insects, especially when they are leaving from bodies...

know what would be ultra scary
instead of having like freddy slash people, or have people cut in half
they should have a monster that like, injects people with overdoses of herion
and then let the person die, and then have them not be discovered for like 3 days.
holy shit the things that happen in thos 3 days. thats why i wont turn to page 73 in my crim book
but of co urse they weould either a) make it shitty make up b) shitty cgi effects
but if they could do a real good job that would be SOOOO gross
i dread the day i have to come across one of those!!

i met a medical examiner and hes like such a sweet guy. so softspoken
byt of course! he sees the worst shit ever
but yeh i dunno the pic its a woman and i cant even tell shes a woman cuz all her hair popped out. she got filled with gas so shes bloated even in her fingers and her skin is black
and shes leaking out fluid out of all her orifices AND leaking fluid out of places where her skin popped. oh and her eyes are popped out too
..... .
..yeh.........

Maybe you have enough of it to write your own horror.
It sure must have made you think.

well i suggest then u go to the library, well no they dont have good selection but go to like a big book store and get as many books. and i mean get as in read there dont buy them LOL.
but yeh look for a book on 'the black da hlia' theres some really bad pics there. as for my drug overdose pic well thats in my textbooks
i mean ive seen plenty of PICS (only pics) of dead bodies and this one really jumped out at me. not to mention gasses = explode and im sure there will be one time wehre an ME will be working on abody then BAM!
heres another one. a old lady doesnt get her mail for 3 days. a neighbor calls the cops who are already like 'ok we know'. so its a cop and a rookie so the cop puts on his corpse gloves and the rookie doesnt put on any(cuz hes a rookie) cop goes right rookie goes left. rookie then yells 'i foudn her'
well she died while on the toilet and she had been there for 3 days so her skin where she sat down had fallen and wrapped aroudn the rim of the toilet. rookie tries to pull ehr off (which is stupid, the ME does that) as the cop says 'let go' her arm rips off. rookie pukes cop says 'drop the arm drop the arm' of course hes puking and cant think straight.
SOOO the rookie runs into the front yard puking, drops the arm
ME comes and cop has to explain why the fuck the arm is in the middle of the lawn.
picture THAT!!

You should write horror scripts. You have some damn interesting stories.
Hope you don't tell little children bedtime stories LOL!

What scares me?
Having the person I love cheat on me. That terrifies the shit out of me. I would never do something like that... I'd break off the relationship before it got to that point.
Of course there are other things, but I think that just about tops the list.

Gaspar Noe's films scare and disturb me, mainly because they could really happen. after watching something like " irrevèrsible" you really don't want to walk alone at night...
Vodstok
04-16-2004, 04:15 AM
Zombies.... Yes, i have a very real fear of walking corpses (really, anything dead, but mostly the walking ones)
Maggots. I am terrified by them. If one touched me, i would probably take an hour long shower with bleach.......
\used to be spiders, im mostly over that one.
Armageddon, or whatever you want to call it. I have always had a morbid fascination with the end of the world, especially since i feel i would survive (add to that a fear of zombies and you can understand why i get such a rush from romero's movies)
Another huge fear.... Having to go back to High school. i'll be 28 in 5 days, and i didnt get picked on in highschool, but i still have nightmares about being late for class.

I've suffered from a psychosis this summer. I'm afraid it happens again because the ideas, the questions and the worries that cross your mind when you are ill make life feel like a big nightmare, except you are not waking up.

I always thought it would be interesting to read some of Nostradamus' stuff, seeing as he wrote about crap like that. I've been pretty lazy to go to the library however....
Although I have read scientific reports saying that the first four or so planets (which includes Earth) will inevitably be destroyed when the sun goes super nova in about 4 billion and something years.
Happy early bday, btw... old fart.
Vodstok

thanks :)
(damn kids..... whipper-snapper.....)
if it makes you all feel better, our sun is a yellow star, which won't go nova. it will just get really big (enveloping us eventually, so it will still destroy everything), and then puttering out. happy day :)

What really scares the living shit outta me.
It's 11:15 on a saturday night, a storm is pounding outside, heavy rain, lightening, loud thunder, I slowly make my way to the fridge,......reaching inside......for....a.....nice....cold.......NOOOOO OOOO.....how could this happen.
So the moral of this story is....always, and I mean ALWAYS, stock up on beer for the weekend.
Have a happy birthday Vod. I'll have a cold one for ya.

Well if there is a justice on this planet, it resides in the fact that everybody dies. But death usually means suffering, and what comes after is unknown.. that's why I find it scary.
