I love horror movie soundtracks/scores and above all those done by john carpenter, assult on precinct 13's theme is the ultimate minimalist score!

What are some of the ones you love most and why!

The best soundtrack to a movie ((besides Twin Peaks)) has to be
Charlie's Family...Download did such a great job on these songs...
Maybe one day i'll actually get to see the movie...

I'd have to say John Carpenter his themes are amazing the best of them would have to be "Halloween" and "The Thing".

Yes this exact thread is in the music forum, AMK should merge these threads together so we dont have two and we wont loose any posts.

Well, don't know how you got the idea for this topic, but it was great...

Anyway... My fav soundtracks for horror movies... The Exorcist, Interview With The Vampire (outstanding), American Psycho... And probably some I'll remember as soon as I finish posting that! LoL

I really enjoyed the music to Hellraiser - the way they used the
music was excellent.
And anything by Goblin, especially the music for Suspiria
and Dawn of the Dead
Really surprises that I'm the first one to mention them

the thing is perfect. its soundtrack is eerie and sets the tone and fits the setting. It so surreal.

Agreed. Great fucking soundtrack. Sometimes ill leave the dvd on its menu and just let the cello track play over and over, because it owns so much.

not really horror, but The Crow had one of the greatest soundtracks EVER.

The whole score was okay, but I always loved Hughes Hall's "Sleep now" from the Dark city trailers. eaasily one of the best dark arrangements ever.

Now for some game soundtracks. American Mcgee's Alice and Quake both had awesome soundtracks. no coincidence that both were scotred by members of Nine Inch Nails :)
Chris Vrenna (alice) worked with Trent Reznor in the studio on most of his albums, and was his touring drummer

the halloween theme is fantastic. as is jaws if you consider that horror. but how about the scene NOES2 when jesse is cleaning his room and dances around to "hold me baby, drive me crazy, touch me....... all night long." i don't know that i'd say this film had a great soundtrack but that scene sure was a hoot.

the sound track to JC's The Thing.... really top notch sound track, that complimented the ambience of the film.

Also The Fog, more great stuff from another of Carpenters films.

Another of my contributions would have to be the soundtrack to Tenebre..... this is truly awesome.

I think Halloween has the best theme ever, TCM has some of the best sound ques ever (hopefully you understand what I'm saying), and as a poster above said anything with Goblin. Suspiria and Dawn of the Dead are both top notch because of Goblin.

Best score has to be Jerry Goldsmith's 'The Omen' for me. It's a toss up between 'The Shining' and 'Suspiria' after that. I never liked anything else Goblin ever did (esp 'dawn of the Dead'), but the music fit that film so perfectly.
