I am going to the library to check out a book, and I wanna get a good Stephen King book that is not boring and gets right to the point (horror). Any suggestions plz?

I'd go for a James Herbert myself, but if you demand a King here are my favourites...
Night Shift (a good collection of short stories)
Misery
Firestarter
The Stand
Just make sure you avoid anything by Dean Koontz

Thing is people never respond to the posts on the book forum..Just check it out and while your there respond to some of my posts. I just finished Infernal Angel by edward lee id recommend that. Or the books of blood by barker. Or the Gunslinger by king. pm me if you want any more knowledge on books.

Is anyone here into Gothic Fiction??? I love the dark settings, and the "feel" of Gothic Horror...But I can do WITHOUT the romance that so often comes along with it...Anne Rice lost me after "Witching Hour"...By the time she got to "Lasher", she had already turned horror into Harlequin...and each subsequent novel thereafter, just kept going downhill...I don't like to mix horror and romance...I'm just not into the romantic crap at all...I like for my horror, to be horrifying:)

Bloodrayne, marry me! LoL
Now, trying to be serious... I must agree with all you said about Anne Rice... Only she lost me even before that, with The Queen of the Damned...
Romance... Well, what can I say... Though I'm not a big fan or romance myself, I like the way Gothic as a whole deal with it... Even romance becomes a kinda desperate, consuming thing, even though it has a tendency to save the day in the end...

Try King's Pet Semetary or Desperation. These contain a little less "mumbo jumbo" than many of his other books. If you're into mumbo jumbo (like me) the Stand is an amazing book.
