Empty your Inbox, so we can complain about you closing the Monalisa thread..

Flayed:

"This is indeed a huge potential loss to the board.

Unfortunately, I feel it is my moderator duty to close this thread until one of the mods receives confirmation. Please bear with us all at this troublesome time and keep a watch for updates."

Why?

And how will you receive confirmation?

Yeah, why did you close that thread? How are we supposed to get confirmation if the thread started by the person giving it is locked? Since I'm from MN, I know exactly where to look for an obit so all I need is a last name and I can find it.

Do people really think this would be faked?

It's not out of the question. I admin a Survivor Game forum where someone actually did just that but it was a very pathetic and transparent attempt by a teenager with low self esteem.

This is much more convincing and therefore seemingly more credible.

One thing that makes it a bit more credible, in my opinion, is the fact that they did not mention just her username, but used her real name as well.

Though I'm not saying that a name couldn't be found, I just think it's a bit much research through the forum, just for a prank.

Yeh I guess not.

I'm just gonna speak my mind here and say I think it was incredibly rude to close that thread. Its obvious it's not faked and was opened so people could pay their respects.

Someone faked their suicide on a forum I used to admin. I can understand the need for confirmation. I was losing my mind when that happened and even though I was glad it wasn't true, the girl still put me through hell with her prank.

Something like that recently happened to a friend of mine too. One of her online friends went missing and someone claiming to be his mother said he had died. They gave her a date and time for the funeral and everything. She found out it was a hoax hours later after she practically went through an emotional breakdown.

I think a big reason the thread was closed was to make sure people weren't spilling their hearts out and getting depressed before we get proof. I can't blame him for that. It can always be re-opened.

Yea, why not wait a year and then open it. That would do a lot of good.

I mean really..

Why not give the man the benefit of a doubt untill you know otherwise.

No hard feelings but I think whether or not there is a way for the confirmation, personally I don't think this is a good way to handle this kinda sophisticated moment in such a nice community like HDC. It'd be better to close or delete that thread after we/anyone can be totally sure whether or not that news was a misconduct.

So what's so wrong about that? If we "spilling our hearts out" and then later someone find out she is alive or one fine day Mona signs in back...then the biggest jerk would be turn out that person who could do such a awful-stupid fun on her & rest of the regular forum members. And he/she will get a treatment for that in our best efforts for sure.

Anyway... this is very sad & awkward time for us..when most of us having a great time on a fantastic survival game then some one in reality may have already passed the final minutes of life.

Rest in peace, Monalisa. You'll be missed.

I have to agree with the majority, whether it's faked or not, that's a bad way to handle the situation. It's disrespectful to do it without confirmation that she's alive.

I'm here to serve, and it seems the majority of you would rather have the thread open regardless. I comply.

I would like to complain... About the HDC Package 2.0 getting stuck in Seattle...

Do people really think this would be faked?

I was honestly part of another forum where it happened... How fucked up is that? Someone created a "New Member" claiming that someone else had died. They were found to be a fake because the mods had the IP addresses and did some additional Googling. Just. Fucked. Up.

That's not to say that I think the RIP Monalisa thread is bunk or anything; I can just understand why Flayed would be skeptical.
