The Weinstein Company and Dimension Films are planning on remaking The Amityville Horror...again.

Andrew Douglas directed the 2005 reboot produced by Platinum Dunes that grossed over $100m at the box office worldwide.

Sources also tell that there just might be a director already in talks to develop the project.

The original 1979 film followed newlyweds as they move into a house where a murder was committed, and experience strange manifestations which drive them away.

MGM also retains different rights and were planning on developing The Amityville Tapes, which has been put on the back burner while MGM figures out their financial woes.

Good. This means they can remake the Wicker Man remake. It will now be set on a small Italian island known for its prosciutto. Instead of honey or apples, the metaphor will be that the pigs aren't getting fat enough. Joe Don Baker will play the highpriest of the ham cult, which John Stamos will be investigating to locate a missing girl. Actress Linnea Quigley will be play an impertinent pork loving pagan schoolmarm and it will end with John Stamos rescuing Dakota Fanning from fake sacrifice dressed as a loaf of garlic bread for the Abondanza celebration.

That would add a lot of angst to his character.
