I'm surprised someone hadn't observed the (very clear) similarities...
What a fucked up turn of events to find that out.

I suprised there's not a bunch of little Manson's running around consider the amount of woman he was boning in the 60's....

He also mentions that its as bad as being Hitler's son which I think is a bit of an exaggeration..

In many ways its suprising that Manson is painted like the boogeyman he is..

Manson wasn;t as bad as other serial killers but he was a coward, a bully and a monster. If anything, I think people tend to play down Manson because they believe he never directly killed anybody. He came very close several times and ordered people to "do what you gotta do" to somebody tied up and handed them a knife. If anything, Manson's ethically worse than most serial killers.

He's talking about public perception. I'm quite sure he's accurate in his statement- when people find out who he is, many indeed, treat him as if he were Hitler's progeny.

You made your children what they are.... These children that come at you with knives, they are your children. You taught them. I didn't teach them. I just tried to help them stand up.... You can project it back at me, but I am only what lives inside each and every one of you. My father is your system.... I am only what you made me. I am a reflection of you. Yeah i'm talking about how famous the media made him..Next to Jack the Ripper he's the probably the most famous 'true crime' persona. Hell his ratings even topped Mick's and Mallory's :-)

I think a lot to do with it was the timings of the murders and who got killed.

And as Elvis pointed out he wasn't technically a serial killer. I think its pretty accepted that he did kill 2 people by his own hand (again I'm no expert).

I don't think you can say he was 'If anything, Manson's ethically worse than most serial killers. ' - I think Manson was more an opportunistic petty criminal than other 'famous serial killers'. The crimes of Albert Fish, Ian Brady or John Wyane Gacey are far worse than anything Manson did. I get the impression manson was an institutionally minded career criminal who all of a sudden had this new found power among these 'lost' children....

Well it won't be something he'll boast about, but it's gonna be an interesting conversation topic for him and any children he may have. I'd use it.

Definitely those crimes outweigh the Family's shortlived spree. There's individuals walking the street who've done far worse crimes and got minimal sentences for their acts. He's just a easily identifiable "Bogeyman" to keep the sheeplike masses scared of their own shadow. Keep the gun and gated community sales up.

I think he was influenced by the hippie movement as much as he used it to his advantage. Especially the protest/resistance side of the movement. He had a "put up or shut up mentality" with a scorched earth policy. Some of his philosophy is quite on to it like the ATWA stuff.
