So pick a flick and own it. With Requiem for a Dream, The Silence (1963), and Noriko's Dinner Table on the short list, my current favorite of all time is:

Sword of Doom (1960).

Late.

There are too many great movies in the world to eliminate all but one.

Yeah thats how i feel.

Its kinda like picking your favourite child - do you say your eldest who went from masters to doctrate to professorship and who ever one admires (like Citizen Kane) or the youngest who is mildly retarded and was dropped on his head as a baby but is funny as hell and has a good heart (like street trash) - or how about your slutty step daughter who does everthing she can to press the wrong buttons (lets call her Ilsa)...

You get my drift :-)

I just know, after I pick a movie... in six-months I'll be like; "Why the hell did I choose that film!?!?". My passions and interests change minute to minute...

...same reason I'm not getting a tattoo.

Memento...

Absolute classic, one of my favorites as well but my top favorites would have to be

1. The Dark Knight, never was a fan of the superhero movies and didn't even wanna see this one but some other people did and ever since it's been my favorite.
2. Silence of the lambs
3. A Nightmare on Elm Street
4. Dogma, the most consistently hillarious movie every time
5. Kill Bill (Vols 1 and 2)
6. Halloween (Rob Zombie)
7. The Prestige
8. Goodfellas
9. Rounders
10. Scream 2

Since I first viewed it, Exorcist III has been my favorite movie of all time. There are a lot of movies that compete, but none have topped it.

The question, is what makes it an absolute favorite? There are so many reasons, to like so many movies.

Is it one that you really enjoyed, or one that you can watch over and over without getting tired of it?

Is it one you loved from your childhood, or one that had a big impact on your mental stability when you saw it on the big screen?

There are too many choices for me to give just one film this title...

I've tried to carve mine down to ten and this the best I did, I failed miserably. In no order.

Batman Begins/The Dark Knight (I'm going to count them as one movie.)
Ed Wood
Chasing Amy
John Carpenter's Halloween
The Thing
The Aviator
Reservoir Dogs
Battle Royale
Fargo
The Big Lebowski
Taxi Driver
The Godfather/The Godfather 2
Die Hard
Clerks

Of course, I already said Memento was my favorite.

Probably go with Brazil, but Pi and Rushmore run a close 2nd and 3rd.

None of these are in order really, it is completely impossible for me to only pick one.

Donnie Brasco
Return of The Living Dead
Full Metal Jacket
Apocalypse Now
The Pianist
Heat
Carlito's Way
Rounders
The Boondock Saints
Bio Zombie

It would be near impossible to narrow it down to just ONE movie over ALL others. So many movies are special to me for so many different reasons. The best I can do is put down the ones which take preference over everything else.

Platoon
City Lights
Blade Runner
The Warriors
Pulp Fiction
Blazing Saddles
V For Vendetta
The Goonies
The Neverending Story
The Untouchables
For A Few Dollars More
To Kill A Mockingbird
The Shawshank Redemption
Terminator 2: Judgement Day
Unbreakable
Se7en
Alien
Predator
Grindhouse
The Evil Dead
Night of the Living Dead

That's my absolute top favorite movies.

Yeah I can't narrow it down either. Mine seem really random, but they are just movies I feel kinda connected to.

Carnival of Souls
Benny and Joon
Cube
Black Christmas

There are probably more, but since those spring to mind first, they are likely the only deserving enough to be listed.
