View Full Version : The First Ever Mighty HDC Survival Crysis

It is the night of Halloween. All of HDC is busy celebrating and trick-r-treating with their families at a favorite HDC member's house-party. Kids run around everywhere, with some of them bursting firecrackers and others happily munching on candy, chatting excitedly between them.
Zero looks outside the window and sighs once. He looks back into the room, where the party is in full swing, and walks over to the shelf on the corner, on top of which a big diamond-studded crown rests. He looks forlornly at it for a second.
"Don't forget that I have one of those at my home too, old buddy," a voice booms from behind him, over the loud blaring of the music system.
Scouse Mac walks over with a smile. "You miss it, eh?"
"Sometimes," Zero replies. "I really wanted to be in it the second time and defend this," he points at the crown. "Guess I'll never get the chance now..."
His voice trails off. A huge, booming voice fills the entire room for a few seconds.
"GIMME THAT BEER!"
Both turn around sharply towards the hall. Newb grabs the 6-pack out of Elvis Christ's hands and snatches it away. "Git some more for yoself, boy!" he laughs at Elvis, who frowns back.
"He never changed, did he?" Doc Faustus murmurs.
"Everything in the world can change, except Newb and his love for beer, and...," Rayne turns and looks at the couch.
An old, scowling gentleman with long silver hair sits on it with a big grumpy expression on his face.
"Neverending, indeed," Dude Guadalupe replies back with a slight shake of his head.
"My my...you are looking lovely tonight," Urgeok beams with a slightly mischevious smile at Hammerfan and winks, across the room.
Hammerfan blushes slightly. "Psh...you are making a middle-aged lady blush!"
"Remember you still owe me that wet T-shirt picture," Urgeok says with a raised voice.
Hammerfan gives a start, startled for an instant. She looks around and glares at Urgeok, who smiles and shakes his head. "Don't worry. With this sort of din they can't hear anything I say."
"So what's all this talk about wet T-shirts?" Chronogrl raises a quizzical eyebrow towards Hammerfan as she walks over.
Outside the house, a firecracker goes off with a loud boom.
"Hell yeah! That's more like it!" Dante's Inferno punches the air.
"Pffft! Dante, mine was much louder, admit it," Ferretchucker teases.
"Sooner or later I m gonna beat that. You just wait and see," Dante says determinedly.
Just then, a boy comes fast at them on his bmx. He jumps off at the last second and doubles over, severely short of breath and panting breathlessly.
"Dude, you look like you just saw a ghost," Ferret says to the newcomer. "What gives?"
"I don't... k-k-know... wha-t-tt I sa-w-ww...," Massacre Man says in-between long breaths. "But-tt... it sure wasn-tt prett-y... MOVE!" he yells and shoves Dante aside.
"Heyyyy what the fu-?" Dante screams as he is thrown to one side.
"Sorry. I need to talk to uncle Urgeok this instant!" Massacre Man replies and runs through the door.
Dante shakes his head and looks at Ferret, who stares back at him.
Massacre Man walks into the room which is filled with loud music blaring out from the speakers of the music system, and suddenly stops. His jaw drops and his eyes stop blinking.
The room is empty!
"DON'T LE-TTTT THEMMMMMM TAKEEEEEEE MEEEEEEEEEEE...!" a voice yells from the corner and Massacre dashes towards it, just in time to see Ferox13 disappear into a big circle of thick, black, wispy smoke. The Coke can which he is holding falls on the floor with a clatter.
Massacre rubs his eyes in disbelief at what he just saw. He turns around to make a run upstairs when a loud scream from outside almost freezes his blood. He jumps towards the door and runs outside. Ferret stands pointing towards the trees, shaking in sheer fright. Massacre follows his gaze, and sees Dante disappear into a thick cloud of smoke.
Suddenly, all is silent. Ferret slowly turns towards Massacre, who looks back with fear and puzzlement.
A small whiff of cold air engulfs both of them at almost the same instant. A look of sudden terror runs through both of their eyes and they start screaming as they disappear into the black cloud of smoke.

Welcome to HDC Survival Crysis, folks.
All of HDC has been overtaken by the most powerful entity of all three known worlds, Aonyōbō. You have been chosen to free HDC from her clutches. But be warned, only ONE of you will survive till the end and be the sole HDC Crysis Savior!
Aonyōbō's world is a strange one. Oddly shaped like a huge island, it is covered by seas of flames on all sides which burn continuously at her command. Needless to say, if you stumble upon a path which leads to the seas, you will be burned alive! There are several paths that lead to her darkest chambers, and each one of you must proceed forward to confront the many minions which roam the areas - odd-shaped creatures, monsters manifesting from your own deepest fears, mutations, zombies and more zombies. The final confrontation will be with Aonyōbō herself. Pray that you are sufficiently prepared by then to take on her, otherwise she will have your soul. Only by defeating her, you will be able to free HDC from her clutches.
You have to choose a Race and Class first. Of course, each Race and Class comes with its unique set of Attributes which add up when you first spawn into your PC (Player Character). Each PC can go up through FIVE levels - obviously, the 5th and Highest Level will be the most powerful one. There are twists in this too, but I will explain them when they come.
All of you will be divided into TWO teams, and will enter the island from separate paths. Challenges will be individual, and team-wise. If you fail an individual challenge, your PC will be affected. If you fail a team challenge, YOUR PC will be affected, NOT the team.
Plenty of weapons, items, bonuses, traps, healthkits and other stuff are dotted all around the island. Picking them up will boost your PC and make you a bit more powerful in your Attributes. But you have to keep a few things in mind :-
- Picking up or choosing anything and everything which you come across will be disastrous. Some items, bonuses or stuff can actually take away from your PC. So be slightly careful and choosy when you pick something. Luck will play a role here.
- You can carry a maximum of THREE weapons only, at any given time. If you come across a fourth weapon, you have to dump one of the three you already have with you.
- Your PC depends a lot on his/her attributes. Shortage/Nil in any ONE attribute can be extremely hazardous to your PC. Be sure to keep all attributes inside points you can control your PC with.
- You can have a maximum of 100 in each attribute. Once an attribute is maxed out, you cannot add to it any more till you lose some points for that attribute.
- Bio-armor boosts your Health attribute separately. Unfortunately, it is very rare. Keep an eye out for that.
- Your PC will behave according to the attributes it gets in the Race/Class choices. Special Abilities are added only after getting the items, bonuses or separate stuff. You will be notified accordingly.
That's all for now. I will keep the notifications coming according to the in-game situations.
I will list the attributes of each Race now. You may proceed to choose your Race accordingly. I won't go into details for your Classes though. You choose them from the list, I will add them to your PC's Race attributes and post your PC's complete identity which you have to carry in your signature.
Ferretchucker is the Official HDC Survival Crysis Signature Maker. He will mint a solid signature for you, if you wish so.
Here we go...
Races
Human - Strength - 6, Ability - 4, Speed - 6, Health - 7, Sanity - 5.
Elf - Strength - 5, Ability - 6, Speed - 7, Health - 4, Sanity - 6.

Hobbit - Strength - 6, Ability - 7, Speed - 6, Health - 5, Sanity - 4.

So go ahead, and choose. If you fail to choose by the time registration is over, I ll choose randomly for your PC.

11-08-2009, 07:40 AM
Welcome aboard, Mass! Oh you are gonna love this!!
Rules and Guidelines of HDC Survival Crysis
Each PC will start off with a default weapon, since combat is integral to Crysis.
Healing is restricted to Health Kits and special Medkits which you can acquire in your advancement.
The power of each weapon will be determined by the Class of the PC who wields it. So keep an eye out for that Update.
This is what happens when you go low/nil on any particular Attribute -
Strength - You cannot lift your weapons anymore. You cannot walk forward. You slump to the ground where your last position is and die a very slow death. (or a merciful one, if any dark creature chances upon you)
Ability - Your special abilities are gone. Your normal abilities are restricted/nullified. You may find yourself a sitting duck if/when a battle breaks out.
Speed - You cannot move freely. All movement is restricted to walking only. You cannot escape from bigger creatures who bear down upon you. You may find yourself a sitting duck if/when a battle breaks out.
Health - This is the most critical Attribute of all. If you lose all health you will die. No ifs, no buts.
Sanity - Losing sanity will, you guessed it, make you go insane. Slowly or rapidly, it will depend on your sanity points. Losing all Sanity will make you permanently insane and totally unpredictable. You might end up bashing your own brains in or shooting yourself in the head, whichever happens first.
Point to Note - You will find several items which will boost each of those 5 Attributes of your PCs from time to time. Keep an eye out for those and choose wisely. Your choices will either make or break your PC.
Combat depends on the situation, weapon(s) in hand, opponents and PCs. If you are facing a strong opponent, you are most likely to lose plenty of Attribute points unless you have a KO weapon/Special Ability. Though in many cases, Special Abilities might weaken an opponent only. Still, you might have to use that multiple times to overcome a challenging opponent. Be warned - Special Abilities WILL drain your Attributes.
There are PLENTY of items scattered around the island. They could be combat enhancements, new and improved weapons, Spells, Medkits...even common, everyday stuff which look quite ordinary but could be of immense help. Don't judge an item by its looks - many a time it could turn out to be a life saver.
The reverse also applies. There are items lying around which will negate you too. Maybe chew away your weapons, drain your Attribute points, etc. They are pretty unpredictable in their nature. Of course, it will all depend on luck...and your choices.
Special Bonus stages and Award Bonuses are also plenty. Clear a Bonus stage and win any/all Bonuses in that stage for yourself. Sometimes you might just stumble in a Bonus pack (how lucky would THAT be!), and sometimes you might have to fight tooth and nail for one. If a rival team member chances upon the Bonus pack(s), you might even have to fight him/her!
Teamwork, although not imperative in Survival Crysis, is important. It will help you in keeping more team-members alive because that increases your chances of advancement into the final Stages. There are Boss levels (yes you read that right!) that would require co-operation between Team members to overcome the Boss(es). Taking on a Boss by yourself WILL prove to be a FATAL mistake. Also, your choice of a team member (or members) will also be crucial in deciding the fate of a Boss battle. Make any wrong choices...you and your chosen Team members will lose, and ultimately die, at the hands of a Boss.
Normal combats will be dependent on your PC's stats and weapons. Be mindful of who you are facing at all times. Analysis of a situation, taking all choices into account, and giving the right answers...they are your mantras for success.
All the best to everyone!

11-08-2009, 07:28 PM
"Reports have been pouring in about multiple disappearances of several people in and around USA and Canada. Eye-witnesses swear that they "just simply vanished into a black cloud of smoke". Your guess is as good as mine...truth or make-believe? The only known link established so far between all of them is that they were all members of a very popular internet website. Only recently, some of them had made personal contact with each other and had planned a big Halloween get-together. Police claim..."
"Turn off the TV! I am trying to concentrate on my math here," The Return raises his voice.
"Didn't our HDC friends plan a rendezvous recently?" MissMacabre asks thoughtfully, lowering the TV's volume.
Return puts his pencil down. "They did, and they didn't invite us," he replies. "So I have stopped caring for them."
"You know that's not true," MissM says. "You can never stop caring about __V__. He's your best friend there."
"The sole exception, except you," Return says quietly. "Give me my cell. I need to make a call."
MissM gets up and walks towards the desk. Just then, Return's cell starts ringing.
"It's Alkytrio666!" MissM says excitedly.
Return gets up and grabs the cell from MissM's hands.
"Hello, Alky."
"Return! Did you call V yet?"
"I was just going to. Why?"
"The stuff they just showed on TV...it's true! I called up Fortunato at least 5-6 times but no one's answering back. I don't have the number of his home. Then I tried Jenna26 but she didn't pick her cell up either. Something weird is going on!" Alky sounds alarmed.
"Meh...probably they have all ganged up for a big Halloween joke on us, Alky. Don't lose your socks just yet. Let me call V first." Return looks at MissM calmly.
"You know I usually don't. But this...I don't know. I just have a very bad feeling right now. If only I had V's number!" Alky's voice starts to crack.
"I will text you his number after I am done calling to him. Don't panic, Alky. I am sure there's a perfectly logical explanation to all of this. MissM is here visiting me. I'll discuss this with her and call you back."
"Okay. I will wait for your call."
Return looks at MissM again. "That bad?" MissM asks in a worrying voice.
"I hope not," Return replies and speed-dials a number on his cell.
"I'll get us some more beers," MissM walks out of the room into the kitchen.
Return bites his lower lip thoughtfully, as the cell at the other end keeps ringing.
The ringing doesn't stop. Return tries V's number repeatedly but it keeps ringing like before. Nobody answers back.
What the hell is going on, Return wonders. He puts his cell down and walks towards the kitchen. "Get me a normal one, MissM. No chilled stuff."
No reply comes back. Return shrugs and sits down at his table, and picks up his pencil again. He looks at the opposite wall and starts thinking.
A small wave of chilly air grips at his ankles. He jumps up and looks down. A small gist of black smoke starts protruding from the floor, which increases in size and engulfs his legs and lower body.
"MISSM!" Return yells in sudden, deep fear.
The smoke covers him completely and Return starts screaming. No sound can be heard as he disappears into it and the last tufts of black smoke mingle into thin air.
In the kitchen, the fridge is open and two beer cans roll on the floor, unopened.

No worries. Invitation is in his box. I ll post his name as soon as I get his confirmation.
And what about Seri?
There will be 5 races - Human is one of em. Of course, each race has its own special Attributes. 5 Classes too.
No Advantages/Disadvantages. Class Levels and Races are good enough to give an idea about what one can/cannot do, plus it helps keeping things from getting complicated.
The detailed post regarding that will come after Chapter 3, sometime around Noon EST.

He slowly opened his eyes. A strange, gray hue prevailed in the air all around him. The sky was dull-red in color, interspersed with plenty of broken, charcoal-grey clouds rushing on top of one other.
Where the fuck am I, he wondered. A shadow fell across him.
"You better get up and stay away from the grass," a voice from behind startled him.
He squinted and looked up. They stood around him, staring into the distance on the right. Suddenly, he felt a pinch on his left leg and jumped. The small, open-mouthed bulb between the grasses snapped shut.
"Parasitic grass bulbs," the female voice declared behind him.
Urgeok stood up and shook his head for a second. Things looked less blurry now. He could make out Zwoti standing beside him, and Hammerfan on his right. Several others stood nearby. All of them were looking curiously at the horizon. He followed their gaze and stopped blinking.
A small speck of light burned brightly. It was slowly growing bigger as it's glow kept on increasing.
"Beautiful!" Nightmare Of Death exclaimed.
Newb stared at it continuously, then started to walk towards the light. All around him, others were doing the same. Urge looked at them and back into the light. He felt a deep pull inside him. Something magnetic was urging him into the light. He couldn't stop himself from walking forward through the squishy grass. A strange humming sound resonated all around.
One by one, they disappeared into the light. As soon as Urge stepped inside it, the light suddenly became a small speck again, and dispersed into nothingness.
"SPAWN!" a deep, demonic voice boomed in everyone's ears. That was the last word they heard before the darkness sucked them all in.

I will list the attributes of each Race now. You may proceed to choose your Race accordingly. I won't go into details for your Classes though. You choose them from the list, I will add them to your PC's Race attributes and post your PC's complete identity which you have to carry in your signature.

After reading through this whole thread, I'm having second thoughts. Is this going to be extremely time consuming and how big of a part will punctuality play in the challenges? I don't have much free time right now and can really only get on the computer here and there when the baby is napping.

Seri: I'm leaving soon, can you post it for me? I'll give you my password
Me: Gah...It's only 2 words, you can do it before you leave
Seri: Actually, nevermind, you word things weirdly...I'll post it myself when I get back
Me: How can I "word things weirdly"?...It's only 2 words...

Seri, heading for the door: I'll see you guys later, love you
Me: Can't you post your race and class before you leave?
Seri: You know what I picked
Me: But...You told me not to post it because I "word things weirdly" or whatever
Seri: *sigh* I'll do it later, how much time do I have?
Me: I don't know, but I'm sure Avi would like to get everything together as soon as possible
Seri: But...I have to goooooo...Please tell him what I chose...*the front door is closing*...Thanks...Love you...Bye

Rules Update
Next update will come soon, and it will be about Items, Bonuses and Combat situations, with a special emphasis on Teamwork.

Hmm...looks a bit all over the place, FC. Try smaller fonts and Name, Age & Team on left, with Race, Class, Level & Special Ability on the right.
Add a small star too (like a medal?) just below the name to denote Level 1. Keep adding stars in a line (like a medal again) when the PCs upgrade to levels 2, 3, 4 & 5.
Should look better and more organised. I ll post a pic for the Team assigned, you can use that for the background of the Sig. :)

Rules & Guidelines Update - II
All the best to everyone. We start soon.
And welcome aboard to Austin, Caenxavier & The Flayed One!

Just updated the list of PCs with Despare's PC. I still await Austin's and Nightmare of Death's PC choices.
All the registered PCs take note - HDC Survival Crysis will be all about getting through Stages. Each stage will be littered with opponents, items, Bonuses and Boss fights. And, each stage will have entry points and paths.
Now the question you might ask is - how do we know the entry points, the paths, and what to choose?
Some of you might have the idea already, but I ll make it more clearer with this post, which incidentally...is the FIRST IMPORTANT POST for the roleplay of Survival Crysis.
Take a close look at this map :-
http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g12/ravenavi/World1.gif
This is the world which Aonyobo rules.
The Island on the TOP is her domain, which you have to enter. Unfortunately, all the seas around that main Island (as you know) is filled with continuously burning fire, which will make a quick barbecue of any/some/all of you. (yes, even if you take a boat/ship)
But, there are TWO entry points to Aonyobo's Island. Both are spawning points from two other smaller islands of her world. Entry Island #1 (on the top right), through which Team #1 will go through before reaching their Spawning Chamber #1, and Entry Island #2 (on the bottom-centre), through which Team #2 will go through before reaching their Spawning Chamber #2.
Needless to say, it wont be easy.
Unknown horrors lie between the entry and the Spawning Chambers, and they have to be overcome. Depending on their respective speeds of progress, PCs might reach their Spawning Chambers before/after each other and spawn into Aonyobo's Island. (or even together, who knows!)
And once you get there, you will have PLENTY more to contend with. Aonyobo has a TON of welcome parties in store for all of you.
For those of you who haven't got the hint yet - you all will be advancing through the stages through a series of maps, like the one above. There will be common maps, and there will be detailed maps. Keep studying them carefully and plan your course(s), and make your choices.
Good luck!

I would be absolutely fine with that. The programme I use is awkward, and so to get the images from it I have to screen shot on to ms paint, crop, save, then photo bucket. Annoying thing is that other than that the programme's absolutely fine!

Oh don't do that- I don't get home till 9:30 Pacific on Saturday.
That's the time I get up on a Sunday morning so it suits me too.
Hmm...What does it mean to be a captain?...If it means what I think it means, I will be needing a rather long, black, leather whip...If it does NOT mean what I'm thinking, please forget what I said, and explain :D
You are the leader of your crew. Team decisions will depend on you (of course), which will be few but very important ones.
Hey- you gave our Quartermaster to the other team! No fair! How are we supposed to get beer now?
Well, between Fortunato, Scouse, Chrono and Dude, I think you got that pretty covered. I think your team will be slightly more tipsy than theirs.
So I'm a captain eh? Well, I must thank you Mr. V!
You are welcome, young man. Remember though, its a pretty important position. Some very important decisions might be coming your way.
Here's the list of weapons you will be carrying through your first spawning level :-
Fighter Level 1 - Recruits - Dual Magnums, (six bullets each, each bullet = 2H from your enemies)
Warrior Level 1 - Brawler - Maces, (each thump = 2H from your enemies)
Stealth Level 1 - Rogue - Swords, (each slash = 2H from your enemies)
Psychic Level 1 - Scryer - Staffs, (each spell = 2H from your enemies)
Occultic Level 1 - Mage - Wands. (each zap = 2H from your enemies)
The entry level powers are evenly distributed, so that both teams start on an even keel. But higher levels will have different powers, some more powerful than the others (also depending on the Classes).
Your weapons also upgrade according to Level upgrades. They will be surprises, so I won't announce them right now.

Really- I work a very long day on Saturday, and I'm wiped out when I get home. Please don't base anything about this game around me. It's not fair to other players. I thought the whole thing about this was we didn't have to be online at any certain times, etc. I'm not backing out, I just want to be clear about level of participation. No offense intended.

Nope nothing's based around you NE. I was just giving an idea to Hammerfan regarding the time I would be online. This is the time I wake up usually (check your watch...its a few past 8 AM here right now, that's 9 30 PM EST previous night your time), and on a Sunday I tend to stay in bed for a little more time.
Anyway, HDC Crysis unrolls in less than 24 hours, folks! Be here, if you can! If not, be sure to check this thread as soon as you are online!

A note to all of my team members:
I wasn't very happy with most of the images I found for your sig banners...Choosing a character to play is a 'personal preference' sorta thing...We all have some sort of idea about how we see ourselves in the game, so if any of you can find a better picture of what you want your character to look like, please send it to me and I'll change the images in your banner...I would MUCH rather see your character the way YOU see it, rather than the way I see it...For one example, I made Hammerfan a dark elf, there's a chance she could have wanted to be a light elf...Know what I mean?
This was how I pictured Hammerfan, as a stealthy (and sexy :p) dark elf:
http://i699.photobucket.com/albums/vv356/AcidRayneStorm/DarkElfStealth.jpg
But...She might see herself as a stealthy (and sexy :p) light elf:
http://i699.photobucket.com/albums/vv356/AcidRayneStorm/ElfStealth.jpg
OR she may have a different image of herself in mind altogether.

STAGE ONE - ENTRY LEVEL
Welcome, Machetes & Chainsaws, to your first Spawning Levels - Entry Island #1 and Entry Island #2.
First, the Chainsaws.
You have spawned on Island #1 (refer to map on Page 13 of this thread), and this is where you find yourselves at :-
http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g12/ravenavi/TheVillage.jpg
Study the map carefully.
You stand right in front of an old village, spawning at the Main Street which leads into the village, and two other paths which act as diversions from the village. These diversions, however, are not accessible by any of you.
There are several exit points (indicated from A-H), and each path leads out of this map. But to reach an exit point, you must go through the village and it's 12 marked places and 1 unmarked place. The map provides you with more details of all 12 marked places. The 1 unmarked place is a secret.
POINT TO NOTE - Exit points D & E lead to Bonus levels. You might find yourselves lucky enough to enter one of them and find several pleasant surprises waiting for you there.
There are 13 of you, Chainsaws. Each one is assigned a particular numerical code by me.
I need all of you to select ONE question each from the following list, and send me your correct answer to THAT question ONLY. Your choice of the question number will determine your fate, and your answers will determine which marked/unmarked places you will enter.
TWO PARTICIPANTS OF THE SAME TEAM CANNOT SELECT THE SAME QUESTION.
Ready? Here we go...
01 - Which city was named "End of Strife" because King Alaungpaya founded it after beating the Mons?
02 - According to The Foundation novels by Isaac Asimov, on which planet had Hari Sheldon established the Second Foundation?
03 - Who became the first prisoner on the French penal colony of Devil's Island after being accused of treason?
04 - To what is a misocapnist allergic?
05 - Which nursery rhyme was written to mock Mary, Queen of Scots?
06 - Which "prince of demons" helped Jesus cure a blind and dumb demoniac according to the Pharisees?
07 - The terminal points of which annual race are Putney and Mortlake?
08 - Where are Islets of Langerhans located?
09 - What travels at 1088 feet per second at sea level at 32º F?
10 - Which two words were combined to form the computer game Pokemon?
11 - Which American presidential retreat was originally called "Shangri-La", till it was renamed by Eisenhower?
12 - Which famous product is made with a secret ingredient called "Formula 7-X'?
13 - Which European country is ruled by the House of Orange?
Now, the Machetes.
You have spawned on Island #2 (refer to map on Page 13 of this thread), and this is where you find yourselves at :-
http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g12/ravenavi/TheForest.jpg
Study the map carefully.
You all stand right at the edge of a forest, guarded by closed gates. There are NINE spawning exits from this forest, marked A-I, but in order to get to an exit you must pass through one of the SIXTEEN spots designated all around the forest as checkpoints.
POINT TO NOTE - Exit points E & F lead to Bonus levels. You might find yourselves lucky enough to enter one of them and find several pleasant surprises waiting for you there.
There are 13 of you, Machetes. Each one is assigned a particular numerical code by me.
I need all of you to select ONE question each from the following list, and send me your correct answer to THAT question ONLY. Your choice of the question number will determine your fate, and your answers will determine which marked/unmarked places you will enter.
Ready? Here we go...
01 - Founded on September 04th, 1781, which city's full title in Spanish means "The Village of Our Lady, the Queen of Angels"?
02 - Which actress-singer is the only person ever to win the Oscar, the Grammy, the Emmy and the Tony Awards?
03 - The deficiency of which Vitamin causes the disease beri-beri?
04 - What oily liquid is found on the heads of sperm whales?
05 - What island's name means "Sulphur Island" in Japanese?
06 - What did France gift to the United States on the centenary of the Declaration of Independence?
07 - Which flowering perennial of the sundew family is famous for its habit of catching and digesting insects?
08 - Which legendary rock band's members once included Charlie Watts and Brian Jones?
09 - In the human body, what are the metacarpo-pharangeal joints?
10 - Which jazz musician was spoofed in Disney's Jungle Book as "King Louie, the King of the monkeys"?
11 - Which real life French murderer was the inspiration for Monsieur Verdoux?
12 - In George Orwell's 1984, the three slogans of the Party are - "War is Peace", "Freedom is Slavery", and?
13 - Name the dictator of Panama who surrendered to American forces in 1990?
You may either PM me, or email me your answer at ravenavi@gmail.com, indicating your Name, Race/Class & Team, and the number of the question selected. EACH PARTICIPANT SHOULD SELECT ONE QUESTION ONLY! No two participants can select the SAME question, please be mindful.
ONLY ONE ENTRY PER PARTICIPANT WILL BE ACCEPTED. There is no time limit.
All the best, folks!

Chainsaws...
Machetes...
(imitating Danny Glover from "Predator 2")
"We got a new player in town!"
Yes, a mystery participant has just enrolled in HDC Crysis. And THAT participant has decided to be a...RENEGADE!
A vigilante.
No affiliations.
No love.
No mercy.
(No, it's not me!)
They (read Mystery Contestant, let's call them "Anonymous") will be on their own when advancing through Crysis, and if they confront any one of you...expect a battle to either submission or death!
The Assassin from Battle Royale was a mercenary for hire. He had a price. But Mr. Anonymous is NOT a mercenary. They can't be hired. They don't have a price.
And they want to win HDC Crysis on their own. And together with all the elements of Crysis, YOU TOO stand in their way!
I welcome Mr Anonymous to Crysis. And wish them the very best of luck!
Mr. Anonymous, you have been sent to be spawned on Island #2 (since it has more Checkpoints). To advance further ahead, please send the answer to this question :-
In which constellation is the Crab Nebula?
Same conditions apply to you as the above Entry level post. Good luck!

There's absolutely no problem with teams being uneven. I did announce that each participant is on his/her own, unless and until the situation demands a team stand on things. This does not affect any Machete, or the outcome of this Level/Stage.

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT
I need to get something cleared up for all participants.
Those of you who went through Round 1 and saw the trivia questions, and had the first impression(s) that this would be yet another trivia-based game (ala BR or Idol)...you are wrong.
The first round is trivia-based because I needed a platform to randomise all participants into random locations. After this first round is over, you all will advance according to situations, choices made, battles and outcomes. Just like a regular RPG.
In short, there won't be much Q&As ahead. Maybe even none at all, if not needed during later stages, in the case of a tie. It will be bloody, brutal and gorific...till the end. If you last till the end, that is.
May the best contestant win.

Aww, poor Newb
You have to choose a number (1-13) that none of your other team members have chosen...Then you have to answer the question that corresponds to that number, and send your answer to V. ~ Roshiq sent a list of all of the questions to you, so check his PM
There are only 3 numbers left to choose from on our team (as of last count)...If you check your PMs, your team members should have sent you messages to let you know which numbers they have already chosen...If someone hasn't informed you which number they have chosen, send them a PM to ask which number they chose.
That's pretty much all there is to it :)

Ferretchucker - You head for the Bowyer (#9 on your map). As you are a gnome, you smell something wonderful awaiting you there. Dude Guadalupe tries to dissuade you but you don't listen.
As you reach the Bowyer, you find the doors have been securely locked. Looking around, you see a small window near the steps leading to the door. But, above on the door's left, a vent shaft looks open and accessible in the dim moonlight.
Which one you do choose?
Chronogrl - You head towards the Constable Station (#4). A light glows dimly inside. The door is ajar, and soft scratching sounds come from the inside.
At the same moment, you think you saw a shadow disappear behind the Station.
You stop and debate.
The open front door, or follow the shadow?
Straker - A quick walk and you are near the Winter Wolf Tavern (#6). Big casks are stacked near the entrance to the Tavern, and one of the windows is smashed in.
Your psychic senses tell you to follow and climb the casks, which lead to the roof.
But the smashed window looks more accessible.
You choose?
Freak - You separate yourself from the group and go directly to the Town Hall (#2). You enter easily through the open door, and come across rows of benches and chairs arranged haphazardly around you, as if some people had left in a real hurry.
There are doors to the left and right in front of you, and stairs leading to the upper level directly ahead.
You head towards?
Neverending - The Temple (#1) is your destination. The doors are locked but there are stairs on the outside which lead to some unknown first floor of the building.
You peer through a window and see some lights at the far end of the inner temple hall. A stool is placed beside the window. It can be broken.
Stairs or break the window?
Fortunato - The Inn of Four Winds (#5). The door is open, and the bar in front is empty. Tables and stools are arranged around you.
Stairs on the left.
Two closed doors on the right, and a smaller closed door right behind the bartender's section.
Choice of proceeding?
Dude Guadalupe - You follow Ferretchucker, slightly worried, and with your Mace ready. However, he dodges you and gives you the slip. You suddenly find yourself alone in the centre of Town Square (#3).
The pale moonlight glow makes you see shadows on your left and right, but they are moving away from you. You debate.
Left or right?
Wicked Lady - The General Store (#8). Some boxes are set near the door in such a way that they block the entrance. The steps on the side lead downwards into darkness. The store, strangely, has no windows. But you can see a small vent shaft on the top of the door.
Rearrange the boxes and climb towards the shaft?
Or head down the steps?
Bwind22 - The Tanner's (#11). It consists of a big, oversized room with plenty of tanner's supplies and some assorted items.
Three huge boxes are on your right, all locked.
A door on the left.
Open Box #1, or #2, or #3, or head into the door?
Nightmare of Death - The Tailor's (#7). As soon as you approach the dark, eerie and empty hut, a big roll of cloth comes flying out and drapes you. For a few moments you can't see anything and panic, trying to unwrap yourself. Something touches you and disappears.
You pull the cloth off to see a dim shadow disappear into the darkness ahead.
The door of the Tailor's stands open.
Chase the shadow, or go into the Tailor's?
Scouse Mac - You are at the Blacksmith's (#10). A small whispering sound greets you as you reach there, but it mingles into the air and there's sudden silence everywhere.
A rustling sound comes from below you, and you tap on the floor in front of the entrance, and it sounds hollow.
The windows on both sides are broken, and plenty of tools lie scattered on all sides.
Investigate the floor for a possible entry, or enter through one of the windows?

Machetes -
Angra - Checkpoint #7. A clump of trees all around. You can see something shining on the upper branches of a tree some distance away from you, but on your right you can make out the outline of a bag-shaped object at the base of another tree.
Proceed forward and climb the first tree, or to the right towards the object?
Massacre Man - Checkpoint #2. A dense clump of trees through which you walk without any clue as to what you are looking for.
Suddenly, you stop and stare in front. A dolmen! You feel thrilled, yet sense something weird. You can hear running water somewhere near too.
Investigate the dolmen, or move on towards the water?
Doc Faustus - Checkpoint #9. A tree-house, spread across three thick trees.
But straight ahead, a small wisp of smoke trails into the sky.
Try to get into the tree-house, or walk ahead to investigate the source of the smoke?
Friday13thFan - Checkpoint #6. A fairly large tree with a very thick center. You can make out the outline of a door.
A hole on the ground towards the right reveals to have steps leading down below into the darkness.
The door, or the steps?
Newb - Checkpoint #14. Plenty of trees around which look like over-sized beer bottles. A shadow is moving fast towards you from between them.
At the same time, you notice a small gate to your right, which is the part of a fence. The gate is chained shut.
Wait and exchange greetings with the unknown shadow, or try to smash the chains?
Rayne - Checkpoint #5. Excited at seeing something glinting like gold in the distance, you hurry towards it and don't see the hole in the ground in front of you.
You fall down. THWUMP!!
Its cold and dark inside. A lighted match reveals openings on both sides of you. The hole through which you fell is too high to be reached. A dim light is on your right, some distance ahead. The left side is totally dark.
Left or right?
Demon Seed - Checkpoint #3. Walking ahead, you come across a dry well. It has steps on the side leading down. You look around and see an open clearing between the trees ahead.
Down the well, or towards the clearing?
Roshiq - Checkpoint #1. You hear the sounds of rushing water straight ahead, but a bunch of trees on your right reveal to be hiding a huge golden box between them! What's more, its unlocked!
Open the box, or see where the water is?
Despare - Checkpoint #4. You stand on the edge of a small ravine. Tiny, shiny objects can be seen between the trees on your left, and there's the outline of a hut on the right.
Climb down the ravine and check the objects, or check out the hut?
X¤Murderdoll¤X - Checkpoint #10. Dense outgrowth all around, and trees on your left and right. Suddenly, a shrill cry rings through the night from your left. Someone's in trouble, you think. Your mind tells you to go right, and avoid your instincts.
Follow your instincts, or agree with your mind?
Caenxavier - Checkpoint #12. You walk on till you reach a cliff. Looking down, you can see a small pool of water, sorrounded by trees on all sides. On your right, you can make out a path meandering away from the trees ahead.
Climb down over the rocks to have a drink, or follow the path?
The Flayed One - Checkpoint #8. You reach the edge of the forest, and see an old house. After taking a few steps forward, you suddenly stop. A figure can be seen near the house, moving slowly. The figure walks out of the gates towards the bushes on the right, and disappears.
Check out the house, or follow the figure?
Mr Anonymous - Checkpoint #16. You stand near the huge Gates leading into this forest, and suddenly find out that there is a small hidden entrance on the right side of the Right Gate. The forest on your right, however, looks plenty interesting and promising, and ready to be scoured.
Leave the temptation of the hidden entrance, or check it out?
You all may post your choices in this thread, or through PMs to me, or email me at ravenavi@gmail.com, whichever suits you. I will post the results of the outcomes of all your choices (individually or in a group), as they are made and I am online.
The remaining contestants who haven't answered yet, can still send in their answers and move into the Combat Stage.
All the best!

Since the left side is completely dark, I would step into the opening and feel around in front of me to determine if it was a tunnel or just a recess...If it was just a recess, I would feel all along the top, back wall, and floor to see if I could find anything useful...If it turned out to be a tunnel (had no back wall within a step or two), I would not enter it fully, in the complete darkness (not sure how long the match would last, or if I had any more), instead, I would head to the right, enter what I could see was an actual tunnel, find out where that light was coming from.

Good logic. But you forgot one thing.
Rayne feels around the damp darkness on her left and takes a step towards the opening. To her horror, she finds no ground under her stretched left leg. Too late! She has put her body weight forward and falls, face-first with a loud cry, on a damp, dusky floor.
The cry attracts the attention of something big and murky near the roof, and it moves slowly towards the fallen figure.
Rayne checks herself quickly and feels relieved at no apparent broken bones on her body. The ground beneath her feels squishy, and her senses tell her she is not alone in here. Reaching for another match inside her belt, she lights it and lifts it up. What she sees freezes her blood.
http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p113/kayos005/dec_black_widow.jpg
An enormous, mutated Black Widow covers the black cavern from the floor to the ceiling, and stares back at her.
Use your staff to beat it back, while you try and get back into the opening from where you fell?
Or use your Special Ability - Fatal - to create it's worst fear? Remember, this will take away 2 Sanity Points permanently. Choose.
I'd rather go down the well.
Demon Seed climbs up on the side of the well, and steps gently on the first stone step. He peers down at the second step and slowly places his leg on it, testing it. Once he feels its firm enough, he moves forward. Down he goes into the well.
When things become totally dark around him, he lights a match in the process of taking the next step. As if in response, a low growl greets him from near, somewhere just below him. He stops and looks down.
http://i808.photobucket.com/albums/zz2/JennaSykes69/fdgfg.jpg
A huge pair of fangs snarl back at him, which belong to some sort of a zombified Lycan!
Demon Seed tries to take a step back, but doesnt find the last one and stumbles. Somehow regaining his balance, Demon Seed gulps.
Take on the creature with your mace, or turn around and try your best to get out of the well? You do have a Special Ability - Brawl - which might cause plenty of damage to the creature, but you will lose 2 Strength points everytime you use it. Choose.
Unlocked golden box...sounds like a trap to me; so like to move ahead for the water only.
Roshiq ignores the box, thinking it to be too tempting for it to be some sort of a concealed trap. He walks forward and comes out to a long stretch of rocks and sand, and sees a river some distance ahead of him. The river looks peculiar, with the water emitting a strange, yellow reflection all around. Roshiq moves forward to investigate, and almost immediately feels pulled into the sand.
http://i295.photobucket.com/albums/mm152/ArtsyChiqua/Zombie%20Trap%20April%202009/ZombieTrap4-11-09017edited.jpg
He yells once, but can't stop his left leg from getting trapped between two, huge metal clamps which snap shut tightly, eating into his leg's flesh. Roshiq screams in pain.
Roshiq is trapped!
Sorry Roshiq, you are trapped on the sandy river bank and must wait for someone to come and help you.
I'm gonna wait and exchange greetings.....it may be my beer delivery.
Hmm...you sure?
Newb decides to wait for the shadow to reveal itself. The shadow grows bigger as it keeps running towards him, and Newb's eyes slowly start widening in horror.
http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y56/nectere/Sims2%20Stuff/VampireSkins/VampireZombieElderMale1.jpg
The pale moonlight reveals the shadow to be a Vampire-Zombie mutation! And it is almost upon Newb!
Jump the fence and run? Or shoot at the infernal thing with your Dual Magnums? Be the Badass? Choose.
I'm psychic, shouldn't I knew what's in the hut?
Let's go check out those shiny objects, I just love traps.
If you tried hard enough.
Despare is intrigued by all the tiny, shining lights below him. He climbs down the ravine slowly and heads into the trees. He reaches the spot and peers down at the forest floor, between the small shrubs. They look small and round, and emanate a bright, golden reflection. Despare reaches down and picks one up. It is a gold coin!
Despare's heart starts racing. He looks around at the several scattered gold coins and runs around in glee, picking them up. After he has about 7-8 coins in hand, a slow murmuring sound on his right perks his ears. He stops abruptly and looks towards it.
http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d149/brutal_truth87/big-1.jpg
ZOMBIES! The thought pounds through his brain.
Fight them off with your staff and risk being overpowered?
Use Fatal? It will take away 2 Sanity Points permanently the number of times you use it.
Or make a dash back towards the edge, and up over the rocks to try and get on top of the ravine again?
Choose.
I'm going to check out the treehouse. It might be a trap, but the chance of treasure and a good vantage point to check things out from outweighs the risk.
Doc looks straight at the tree-house for signs of activity. It looks dull and lifeless. He walks towards the trees below it and finds a long rope-ladder leading into the house. He climbs it and comes into the central room of the tree-house. The moonlight shows some small tables and chairs, and some items in the corner. Two doors on either side are closed. A balcony behind Doc reflects some more items thrown around it.

CHAINSAWS
Left.
Dude turns left and follows the receding shadows. They keep moving beyond the last house of the village in that direction and suddenly disappear from sight.
Dude feels so startled he stops. He blinks two-three times to make sure the shadows have really disappeared. Yes, they have, he thinks. Was I following ghosts, he wonders.
Just then, a loud growl breaks the silence and Dude almost jumps around.
http://i258.photobucket.com/albums/hh248/d_king_2008/Inimigos/ZombieDog.jpg
A huge zombie-dog snarls back at him menacingly and advances forward. Dude grips his Mace tightly and backs slowly, looking around for cover or a way to escape.
Take on the dog and try to smash its brains in before it chews your neck out? Or find a means of escape and try to elude the savage creature?
Choose.
I'm going to head up the stairs.
Freak debates between the doors and the stairs and decides on the latter. He walks forward towards the stairs and climbs up. His steps resound in the empty hall and attract something's attention, which silently proceeds towards him from the right. The soft rustling sound makes Freak stiffen in his pace, and he lights a match with shaking hands. The thing at the top of the stairs makes him almost fall back down the stairs.
http://i306.photobucket.com/albums/nn269/bigfatcrap/zombie.jpg
It looks like a half-human, half-crab zombie. And it walks straight towards him with its arms outstretched!
Run out back through the front door? Run into one of the side doors? Or take on the creature with your sword?
Choose.
I'm going to go into the tailor's
The door is open. NOD looks at the disappearing shadow and decides against chasing it, proceeding into the tailor's house. The front room looks ransacked, with plenty of cloth pieces and rolls lying around. Some sewing machines can be seen propped against the walls of the room. A door is on the right. NOD takes a step towards it, and the door starts to slowly creak open. NOD stops and peers ahead towards the still-opening door.

NE takes one long look at the glass window and decides against breaking it. He walks slowly towards the stairs and tiptoes towards the first floor. He reaches it but the place is in complete darkness. NE lights a match as he takes a step forward, but stops immediately. The feeble light reveals several boxes all around him!
Check the contents of the boxes, or move forward away from them? Choose.
I'll climb the casks and head for the roof.
Straker decides to follow his psychic instincts and climbs the casks to jump onto the roof. He walks over the roof to a small opening on the other side. He leans down to peer in, and sees nothing. Deciding something, he strikes a match and drops it through the opening. The match lights up the entire room for a second, before flickering off. Straker gives a huge start as he looks at the spectacle near the broken window, which has now turned around and is looking directly at him through glowing, evil eyes!
http://i548.photobucket.com/albums/ii340/Dadab/Undead_warrior_108_by_Knockwurst.jpg
It's a huge zombie warrior! It walks towards the place where the hole in the ceiling opens, and lifts its sword! Straker looks at it and gulps, and looks back at his staff.
Jump through the hole and take on the undead warrior? Or stay on the roof and look for another entry inside? Or ditch the whole idea and jump back down the casks and run?
Choose.
If I use the window I'm almost certainly immediately exposed to what's inside, and I don't know whether I want that. Then again, I could easily get trapped/ stuck in the vent. However, at least I should be able to observe without being heard.
I choose the vent.
Good reasoning.
Ferretchucker looks around for something to grab onto and feels a dent on the wall. He places his left leg on it and gets a firm grip, then jumps upward and grabs the vent's side to pull himself up. He tries to wriggle himself through it, but his shirt's side gets stuck on the vent's handle and restrains him from moving forward. The closed space all around prevents him from turning around or for reaching for his stuck shirt. He tries to wriggle himself free and fall back down from where he came, but to his horror he finds himself stuck!
Ferret, you are stuck in the vent. You must wait for someone to come and free you before a creature of the night finds you. Wait and pray.
Follow the shadow.
Chrono runs after the shadow around to the behind of the Station and stops. The shadow has disappeared! Was I imagining things, she thinks. Just then, she sees the back door of the Station slightly ajar and creaking on its hinges. Against better judgement, she walks up the steps and opens the door to look in. A lighted match reveals a small empty room with stacks all around on the walls. She takes a step forward, and the floor gives way below her!
Chrono flails her arms and legs as she falls heavily on a dusty floor. She groans and gets up slowly, and lights another match. It was a trapdoor, she thinks. Stairs lead away from her towards a door on the right, and steps are on her left which head towards a dimly lit cellar.
Stairs or the cellar? Choose.
I'll start with opening box #1.
Bwind looks at each box carefully. All of them are locked with huge, heavy locks hanging on them. He tries some keys which he has with him, but none of them fit. He then looks around at the walls for possible keys, but none are there. He feels around on top of the boxes, and finds a small dent on the centre. It has a key in it!
Excited, Bwind pulls it out and puts it in the lock. Its a perfect fit, and Bwind turns it. The lock clicks open with a slow groan, as if it hasn't been opened for centuries. He lifts the top, and slowly throws it back.
A strange glow fills the room from inside the box. A small bottle is placed in the center, which has some type of swirling smoke-like contents inside it. The contents give off a bright glow of long streaks of silver, and Bwind picks it up slowly. With trembling hands, he opens the cork on top and peers inside.
The silver smoke releases into the air, and a figure hangs suspended in the air in the middle of it.
http://i1016.photobucket.com/albums/af289/Morvidra/winterfairy.png
Slowly flapping its wings, the figure bows its head towards Bwind and flies forward to sit on his shoulder.
Congratulations Bwind, you now own a FAIRY! She is called Reedshimmer, and has powers both good and bad. You will find out what her powers are in the coming stages.

Hmm...Well...I'm not sure that hitting the spider would do much good, can I turn the staff and STAB the spider with it?...If so, I would stab the spider in its brain or its soft underbelly (depending on which part I can get to the fastest), until it was dead, then I would drag its carcass over to the hole and climb its carapace to get out.
If I find that I can't stab it...I guess I would just have to try to bludgeon it...As a gnome, I live underground, so I should be able to find some way out of a hole.
BTW, as a gnome with a staff, shouldn't I be able to control spiders and other lower life-forms that live underground?
This has left me wondering if this staff can perform any spells, besides Fatal...Staffs generally don't make very good bludgeons...I feel that I should reserve my special attack for a boss or multiple enemies, instead of using it when we're just getting started.

Don't overthink. Logic and game mechanics are often strange bedfellows. Staves are made of wood and they are hard. Therefore, they are suitable bludgeons, better than say, a pillow or some cheese.

A huge zombie-dog snarls back at him menacingly and advances forward. Dude grips his Mace tightly and backs slowly, looking around for cover or a way to escape.[/i]
Take on the dog and try to smash its brains in before it chews your neck out? Or find a means of escape and try to elude the savage creature?
Choose.
I'm gonna have to smash its brains in.

Choose.
Think I'll stay on the roof and look for another entry inside... not prepared to run away just yet, but I don't fancy tackling a zombie warrior head on either if I can find a way round it.

On a side note...I think we could turn Chrono into a hardcore gamer...She's beginning to feel it...:D
Oh, absolutely. I'm actually a wannabe-gamer. Always WANTED to play D&D, but didn't know anyone else who did and wasn't sure how to get started... Want to play WOW, but can't afford the price of the software and monthly fee right now (plus I don't have a good enough computer to run it on). Looking into some LARPing around the area, though (NERO is one I'm looking at especially, after watching Monster Camp (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0970948/)).
What MMORPG's do you and Dustin do? I believe there's a free one that Posher told me about once?

That is very true, and I think it's because I'm so bad at 'chance' that I try to avoid it, by...overthinking, trying to predetermine every outcome...I'm also very uncomfortable with the staff, I've never used one so I'm just trying to get a feel for it, see what it can do, I know I'll eventually get used to it...I've always played very physical characters, and even my Segnale, who is supposed to be a healer with curse abilities (a whip, no staff), I statted her for a DD build(DD='damage dealer', for anyone who may not be familiar) ...I really appreciate the tips in this unfamiliar territory.
This is my lvl 102 Segnale (I love her) :

This is her whip:

I hate screen shots, I can never catch them at the perfect moment, and also it's not as cool when nothing's moving...Wish I could show you guys video...When she lays down a curse field, she jumps up into the air, spins, and then lets it go:
http://i699.photobucket.com/albums/vv356/AcidRayneStorm/RayneCursefield.jpg
Her cursefield turns the ground black/purple (and green when I add poison to it), and everything inside the black/purple circle dies (lower level monsters just explode) :D

Those guys in the back that are still alive, were outside of the circle.
It just started raining ingame...I love the rain...I'm gonna play for a little while.

We've played 2moons for 3 years, that's where my Segnale is at...You would LOVE it, but they just put in new patches to add a character (Aloken) and now the game requires a Pentium 4, equivalent or higher...I'm using a Pentium 3 (which was always good enough BEFORE...GRRR) so I'm getting pretty bad lag (MS at 1500! insane)...I'll have to install the game in one of these newer computers, which sucks because I'm used to mine...Anyway...We have played probably around 50 MMORPGs in the last 3 years, but quit most within a few days to a month...All were f2p (free to play)...We're cheapskates.
2moons will always be our favorite...I've still got Jade Dynasty loaded in my computer, as well as Requiem Bloodymare (they recently changed the name to Requiem Momento Mori), and Runes Of Magic...Usually I end up quitting a game because of issues with controls (I can't WASD :o)...Rohan's map system sucked, Magicworld's graphics were crap (so was weapon enhancement), but it was a decent game until lvl 60 or so...I guess Jade Dynasty would be the best after 2Moons, but there's a pretty large gap between them...Jade Dynasty's crafting requirements, and non-existant weapon and armor drops (because of the crafting requirements) are totally sucky, other than that, good game...Shaiya is okay, but I got bored after level 40 (which is strange, because I was entering a new map), the monsters were all just too similar, that's all I can think of for the lack of interest.
There are SO many to try...Some are good, some are bad, it really depends on personal preferences.
Google 'Free MMORPG'...Check out each one to see what the game is like before you invest too much time and effort into installing it...See what Characters, Classes and Abilities are offered, and check out the combat control and general movement configurations...We got Brad hooked on 2Moons, but I don't think his system at his house can handle it now...If you wanna check out a free MMORPG, let me know what you're thinking about trying, and I'll give you all the info I can about it...If it's not too bad, I most likely already have a character and can meet you there ;)
Dustin and I are still searching for an MMORPG that's at least AS good as 2Moons...No luck yet, so we don't play very much anymore (at my level, there isn't much left for me to do at 2Moons...I played the higher maps on an accelerated server, so I was pretty much done at 2Moons about a year ago)...Our friends at 2Moons have invited us to many other MMORPGs, which is how we ended up at Jade Dynasty, but we just didn't stick around...Our gamer friends are also on the lookout for a better game.
OH...And for the record...WOW sucks...You aren't missing a thing...I hated the controls AND the crafting...The people who like WOW, absolutely love it, but if you play 2Moons first, WOW just isn't all that great...I think the WOW players just haven't really played much else...OH, we hated Everquest also, and I have friends that are hooked on that game like CRACK...They never played 2Moons either ;)
I'll make you a deal...If you manage to find a GOOD MMORPG, Dustin and I will get new headsets (the baby lost/destroyed both of ours), you get a headset, too, and we'll hook you up with Ventrillo...Then we'll all play...You'll be a true gamer geek :D
Just wanted to add...Shane, Seri and their friends are also LARPers :D...They tried to get Alex to join, but he's just not into it, and if you're going to do it right, you REALLY gotta be 'into it'.
neverending

*giggle*
There's nothing better than a guy and a girl sitting at opposite ends of the room with headsets on, and the guy says "HEY, it's raining body parts on me over here" and the girl says "Oops, sorry about that...You might wanna scoot over just a bit"...Makes a girl happy :D
And...Dustin got me a GeForce graphics card for my birthday one year...WOOT!...That's true love right there...Although, it looks like I may need a bigger card, now...*Nudges Dustin*
OH, it's also good for family bonding...This was from one of our favorite moments:
Playing Left 4 Dead -which I quit after a month, I'm just not into FPSs (first person shooters)...But, I LOVED the zombies!...Which was why I played in the first place:
Dustin: "Alex, If you don't stop standing in front of me, I'm not gonna stop shooting you in the head."
Alex: *oblivious*..."OOOO, I just found Molatov Coctails!"
3 seconds later:
Me: "Why are we all on fire?"
Alex laughs.
And Alex glitched me through the floor of an elevator by throwing multiple bombs at me, so I was at the bottom of the elevator shaft while they were 2 floors above me.
Ahh...Fun times :)
