Thanks Avi, for texting me and for this thread...You're far too good to me :)
Thank ALL of you for the birthday wishes, and for thinking about me on my birthday...It's very sweet.
I would love to sit and hang out with you guys for a while (all night like I used to way back when...before I met Dustin, and we made a baby...You guys remember that, right? :D)
BUT...I am doing my best to try to keep from going insane at the moment, and I absolutely can NOT sit still...I knew that it would be hell to quit smoking, I've tried before and failed...I actually succeeded this time, but it literally HURTS in many ways, and I'm sure that it will for a while...Can't expect everything to just go away in a few weeks, after smoking for more than half of your life
Anyway, my birthday is perfect, my family is here, and I have the best friends in the whole world (you guys rock)...But...I have to go now before I throw up, or rip my skin off, or explode or something.
Take care all :)
EDIT: I almost forgot...I LOVE THAT CAKE!!!

yeah quitting smoking is a bitch but is so worth it... once you've quit for a month you will be surprised at how good you feel energy wise and even as far as your mood goes (I know how hard it is) just stick it out... believe me it is soooo worth it. Anyways happy birthday!

Thanks again, everyone, for all of the birthday wishes, and the 'quitting smoking' encouragement...I read a lot about this, and I found out that it's easier for guys to quit smoking than it is for girls...Kinda sux for us girls, huh?...BUT, it makes it tougher for the guys to make excuses for not quitting, and the girls get some leniency for taking a little longer, so I guess it works out.
It has been extremely difficult, but to quote Dustin (previous pack-a-day smoker), "Keep fighting it, don't give up, because it is SO worth it"
Oh, and another Dustin quote that came from this ordeal, "It's not a competition, but I totally won"...Who's the smartass again?...lol...Yeah, he was able to quit before me...I was just as shocked as anyone about that!...Dustin always smoked 3 times more than me!
It's going much better now, the withdrawal symptoms are gone, and the urges come up less frequently than before...When an urge hits, it's pretty intense, but it doesn't last for too long, so I just fight it and deal with it till it passes...It really does get easier to deal with as time goes by...I haven't felt like killing anyone for at least 4 days now :)
@Elvis: You must have decided to quit at just about the exact time Dustin and I decided to quit...And you're not kidding about "grumpy and stressed", try adding a hyper, demanding 3 year-old to that...It's sooo much fun...lol
@Novakru: To be perfectly honest, "trying" to quit, doesn't work...I know that sounds weird, but let me explain...My mother used the patch, she failed...Then she tried the gum, she failed...2 years ago she spent $500 for a program that cuts you down slowly (you keep a journal for your progress), and you go to a support group 3 times a week for encouragement, and sharing progress and setbacks...That lasted for months, and it actually worked for her, she quit smoking...for about six months...Sooo, this time, she simply decided never to smoke again...Dustin and I were "trying" to quit...2 years ago, we cut down to about 3 cigarettes a day, but we didn't quit all the way, we failed...This time, we tried cutting down gradually...It just wasn't working, so Dustin just stopped...I had to just tell myself "I DO NOT SMOKE", then I refused to touch another cigarette...That worked...It has been VERY hard, but you just have to deal with it...After you decide you are never going to smoke again, you just deal with the withdrawal symptoms as you would ANY illness or pain...Just keep telling yourself that you DO NOT SMOKE, and you're sick (the withdrawal symptoms are somewhat flu-like), then do whatever you have to so that you can get through it...It's mostly psychological, as is the addiction itself...Fight your way through it until it's over, make sure that you have no cigarettes in your house, and no way to get any...Withdrawal symptoms last 72 hours (3 days), after that, you deal with breaking the actual habit...When you get an urge, grab a popsicle instead
@Newb: I love you, Dollbaby...Thanks for your suggestion and assistance...Most people do tend to choose the lollipop method, but, I have found that cherry popsicles work better...Because:
1) A cigarette lasts for about 6 minutes, a popsicle can't be eaten quickly, unlike a lollipop...You don't hold a cigarette in your mouth the entire time you smoke it, you put it between your lips and take it out several times...A popsicle mimics this action, which helps to substitute for that part of the habit
2) We chose 'Ice Pix', they are a full 3 ounces (regular popsicles are usually between 1.4 oz and 1.6 oz), so they last about the same amount of time as a cigarette...Bomb Pops are good too, because they are also larger than regular popsicles...I love cherry popsicles, but I got sick of popsicles altogether after about a week...lol...For anyone who is interested in trying these, I scanned Dustin's box so you would know what to look for (he chose strawberry banana)...I couldn't find a picture on the internet, so maybe they are new or something...My box was gone about a week ago :p

The other thing to remember about quitting smoking (something quite a few doctors told me): cigarettes are ten times more addicting than heroin. So, I think all of us that have quit should really do something to celebrate our accomplishment. However, I will not celebrate until I've gone a year without smoking. The longest I've lasted in the past is six months. I figure if I can make it a year, I've got it kicked.
