View Full Version : NIGHTMARE the movie, my movie, is out!

Hey horror fans, I'm a 26 year old director from Brooklyn named Dylan Bank, and I just finished my first horror movie, called NIGHTMARE.

I see someone already posted about it (exciting!), and then got accused of working for me. Let me assure you, I'm not in a position to be paying anyone, so thank you Anton. I raised the money myself and shot it on HD, and we just posted the trailer at our website,

www.NightmareTheMovie.com

and I invite all of you to check it out, and let me know what you think, good or bad.

I went into Nightmare to make the most intense, insane and surprising horror film of all time, and now it is up to you to decide how much of my ambition got onscreen. Thank you, and I hope you take a look -Dylan Bank

Wow. What an amazing coincidence. The only other person that's heard of you or your just completed movie arrived here mere days before you to spread the word. That's kind of like pre-spamming spam. No one was interested in hearing about it before and I'm sure everyone is even less interested in it now. If half of these "hey ! I'm a film maker" guys would send out screeners for reviews rather than the usual "check out my site and let me know what you think", perhaps people would talk about their films rather than their pathetic spamming.

I - for one - thought the trailer was quite good (at least as good as half the independent cinema in this country (US).

Would it be so overwhelmingly bad to have a special thread for spamming of new films - maybe the PIMP Thread? I know the vast majority of you hate spam - but I personally like to see these website trailers. Its cool to see people making their own films - even when they suck all kinds of donkey-ass.

Just a thought.

Just a thought. The problem really isn't so much with the spam, as it is with the spammer...When Sam and Mister Sadistro inform us about their new projects, that's okay...When Vod pimps his site (relentlessly :D), that's fine, too......Why?...Because that isn't the ONLY reason they came here...

When people come here, for the SOLE purpose of 'pushing their shit' (free advertising)...They are not only doing it HERE, but they are pimping it on just about every site they can think of that may have a similar theme to what they're pushing...

The problem with this is: They did NOT come here because they were interested in our site, YET they obviously felt that WE should be interested in THEIRS...

That's just rude...

Many people here know what I do, but only once did I ever mention a film by name since people could watch it online for free (a long, long time ago). Some are good. Some aren't. It doesn't matter since it would still be spam. That would be horribly hypocritical of me :D I still say the filmmakers around these parts should send out screeners. Perhaps then others might be inclined to talk about their work (rather than having somebody show up and ask stupid obvious questions that are obviously a ruse).

I know ads on the net suck, but how else am I supposed to tell people about my movie? I love horror movies, but I'm not a member of every single chat room, and when people who run the site don't answer my e-mails, I few other choices. I'm sorry to piss you off, but as someone who spent two years making non-mainstream horror movie on my own with the intention of rocking the horror world, why can't I post here? -Dylan Bank

How bout' just sit down, relax, wait for the video to be released, and then see how it does.

By the way, word of advice: STOP SPAMMING, ASSHOLE!

Ok, look at it this way. Go up to someone, tell them you've made a movie, and leave. That's pointless and annoying. On the other hand, when you're talking to someone you've known for a while (and, preferably are friends with), bring up the fact that you've made a movie. Perfectly justifiable.

BTW, it took you two years to make THAT unoriginal-looking tripe? Or did it take you a couple months and the rest of the time you spent making that pointless ass website?

hmmm ... I think you already answered your own question. You are NOT a member here. You joined when it was time to spam your film. Nobody here cares how long you spent on it because you weren't a member before and as far as many people here concerned (myself included), you never will be because of crap like this. You are an opportunist. Again, send out screeners to review sites that might be interested if you want people to hear about your film. oooooh that's right. You can't since the film isn't finished. So you won't waste a reviewer's time, but you will waste the time of people here ? Good luck with it now. You're really going to need it.

Well. First off, you knew that there was already a thread started regarding your "film." You should have just posted in it instead of starting what most see as a duplicate thread! Thats a NO-NO on most sites. Ohhhh, you would still be a spammer, trying to get some free advertising and we all would still say fuck you, but at least you would be showing some consideration to others, which is good for the soul. We also see a continued ad in your second post that started with "I know ads on the net suck..." followed up with "...the intention of rocking the horror world..." How lame.

Why piss off people/possible film viewers before they see it. If it's that important to you, scrape up the cash and advertise legitimately like everybody else.

When my film was finished I didn't do anything but make a thread saying that I had just finished my first movie because I was excited and just wanted to tell someone.

I didn't say the name, website, film festival or anything else because I was unaware that since I'd been here for awhile that it woulda been ok so I just thought that it woulda made everybody mad if I adverised it.

The point of what I just said is that I having been here for over a year had the consideration not to advertise my film because I thought it would upset people while you on the other hand knowing and I quote ''ads on the net suck'' still decided to just pop up here when it's time to spam your film and do it. Then to add on to it someone else who you obviously know started one or two other threads about the same thing.

Enter it into a film festival, advertise on a site you're a regular member on,send out screeners as Mr.Sadistro mentioned, get a agent. There are more ways to advertise your film than to piss off an entire site who's probably not going to bother with it anyway.

p.s.
After seeing what it's about if it took you two years to make it then you probably don't have any buisness being a director in the first place.

Hey horror fans, my name is Dylan Bank and I've directed a new movie called "Nightmare" that IFC is releasing on On Demand right now. I'm just a horror fanatic who got his hands on a camera, and I'd love to see what you guys think of it. Check out the trailer:
http://www.traileraddict.com/trailer/nightmare/trailer

I'm not trying to spam you guys, it's just me here, and I'd like to talk directly with the true horror-heads that I made this crazy film for. It's a very different movie, so if you're tired of seeing the same plots with the same endings, give "Nightmare" a shot. Plus it has tons of nudity.

I'll be back to respond to any comments, so feel free to be brutally honest (as if you didn't already), and I hope you like it.

Dylan Bank

I'm not sure if my movie is important enough to be bootlegged yet, I'm working on it.

I know 7 buck is more than free, but the movies that are on the free On Demand are typically studio movies that have a larger umbrella deal.

It's certainly frustrating to be an indie filmmaker who made a movie for people like me who think maistream horror movies are pussy and predictable, but can't get the audience I made it for to give me a chance because the 12th Friday the 13th movie is out (not that I haven't seen them all).

Don't bitch about horror movies sucking and being formulaic if you don't support those of us who are trying to change that.

Hey everyone, this is Dylan Bank, the director of NIGHTMARE, the new horror movie from IFC. I posted before here when we were playing on On Demand, and now that we're on DVD and Netflix, I'm back! I'm not a spammer, I'm just a guy sitting on my couch, trying my best to break through.

I made NIGHTMARE for everyone who's sick of the same tired plots with the same predictable endings, so be brave and take a chance on my insane little movie - and hey, if you hate it, you can come here and berate me personally.

I'll be back to talk with anyone who has anything to say, so if you like tons of nudity and violence, check out NIGHTMARE!

Hey everyone, I posted here a while ago when we were playing in film fests, then again when we were on On Demand, and man were some of you pissed, calling me a spammer and worse (I cried twice, I swear).

But I'm just a life long horror fan who got to make a horror movie, it has no one famous in it, no budget to advertise, and I'm not going to sit around and let it slide by because no one get's the chance to ever hear of it.

If a director personally coming to your website to discuss his movie with you is what you consider "Spam", then I'm fucked, yes, go ahead and delete this posting.

But if you want to take a chance on a batshit horror movie that I made for people who are bored of the same tired plots with the same predictable endings, throw NIGHTMARE on your Netfilx queue. Here's the trailer: http://www.fangoria.com/reviews/2-film/1965-nightmare-film-review.html
