One of the better independent flicks of the year that's for sure. Laid To Rest lived up to the hype that Hatchet crashed and burned on. The effects were top notch and were some of the best shit I've seen in awhile (don't think I've been blown away that much since Toe Tag first hit the scene). Terrible soundtrack however... Christ whoever overlooks stuff like that should realize that even trendy teenagers are over these banal tunes.
Really solid slasher that didn't hide behind the self reflexive smokescreen (ala Scream/Final Destination) bullshit or remake the oldies blandness.
A top notch modern slasher up there with Gutterballs and Malevolence.
You know whether you're gonna hate this or not. If you're down check it... if not pick holes and waste your bandwidth or coin true fans of this shit could care less, stick to your docile "How to join the FBI"/ Sixth Sense knockoff thrillers. This flick is made by horror fans for horror fans.

I couldn't agree with this more. There was so much hype for Hatchet and I found it to be a bore, meanwhile I heard very little about Laid to Rest but it really delivered. Best slasher flick in a while.

I finally watched this a week or two ago. I just wanted to watch the scene with the store so I could finally watch a movie and say "Hey! I've been there before! :)" But I had to sit through the whole movie, ugh, didn't like it a bit. That girl was so annoying. The hearse looks cooler in the daylight, I saw it the morning after they filmed.

Couldn't have said it better myself. I absolutely loved this film (and usually our tastes defintely diverge on slasher films). I thought it was an indie gem done by someone who obviously loves the genre and has a knack for special effects. There were definitely a couple of jaw-dropping kills and that rarely happens for me anymore. If you like slasher movies, I highly recommend it.
