Ugh, okay I need a quick update. Is this a shakey cam movie like Cloverfield? I've heard the words skakey cam once and documentary style was used a lot. I need to know before I go to see it tonight and risk throwing up in a theatre bathroom again.

It shifts from regular camera to shaky to documentary style throughout the film. So not all of it is shaky cam. I hope that helps. :)

I had my doubts, I thought it was going to be really stupid and cliche but I hear good things.

Looks pretty damn good. Nice concept as well. I mean, the whole thing about us being the truly hostile ones has been done to death but this seems to be doing it in a very realistic, slightly different way. I'm gonna do my best to go and see it!

The manager of the local theater said people actually walked out in the middle of this.

Really? Wow.

After reading the IMDb page I'm a little less enthusiastic. Still looks good in my opinion.

People might have walked out because they were sick. Everything was shot with a hand held camera so it is extremely shakey. Not as bad as Cloverfield and not a lot of the Blair Witch running, but still not steady by any means.

I couldn't see anyone walking out half way through the movie due to disappointment. The movie keeps the plot simple so you can sit back and have a good time with the action. If you like first person shooter video games, you will like this movie. My friends and I were all very pleased with the amount of times heads exploded, and brains stuck to the camera. There was a gravity gun, Half Life fans. When you see it, you will love it. Even with this being a pretty action based movie, it still has the whole government and racial issues to think about. Basically, forget IMDB, just go see the movie and have fun.

It's not horrible. It's a do-able kind of shakey cam. The quick cut scenes in the Saw movies on the big screen have made me throw up. D9 didn't. It's bearable.

Those of you wondering whether you'll be able to toss a District 9 DVD or Blu-ray onto your Christmas Wish List are in luck, as the film is set to debut in stores on December 22 (up from the previous release date of December 29th).

http://www.horror.com/forum/showthread.php?p=833474&posted=1#post833474

Makes sense to release it BEFORE Christmas rather than four days AFTER Christmas since it was one of the biggest movies of the summer.

We're looking at a two-disc set that will feature 1.85:1 1080p AVC video accompanied by a 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio soundtrack.

As far as extra features go on the Blu-ray release, check it:

-- movieIQ
-- cinechat
-- Joburg From Above: Satellite and Schematics of the World of District 9 - Interactive Map
-- Director's Commentary
-- Koobus Big Gun
-- The Alien Agenda: A Filmmaker's Log Three-Part Documentary
-- The Alien Agenda: A Filmmaker's Log - Chapter 3: Refining District 9
-- Metamorphosis: The Transformation of Wikus
-- Innovation: Acting and Improvisation
-- Conception and Design: Creating the World of District 9
-- Alien Generation: Visual Effects

In addition to the special features, for the first time in its history the District 9 Blu-ray will feature a demo of the upcoming PS3 game God of War III (only available on PS3), and after completing the demo, folks can unlock a featurette on the game.

This is the first time a movie and game demo have been paired on a Blu-ray disc. What does this mean for the future of Blu-ray? Could we see movies paired with the tie-in games in one special edition package?

Pre-order for 19.99 through Amazon here - http://www.blu-ray.com/movies/District-9-Blu-ray/7594/

This was a great watch. It pulled all sorts of emotions out of me which is always cool because not many films do that to me these days. The film made me really disgusted to be part of the human race at points.

Me too. Dug how it explored the territory covered by Alien Nation further.
The best piece of sci-fi I've seen in years.
