Yeah, depends on who. Would I meet someone that just sent me a random message on Facebook, or someone from a forum that I'd just joined? Christ no.

But there are definitely people on here that I'd meet up with should the opportunity present itself (in fact, such plans are already in motion). It's all about the situation.

cheebacheeba
07-30-2009, 04:58 PM
I have done, but I went with weapons.
I've also met a few 'friends of friends' that were made online.
There's also another guy who I've been talking to via email that I met on a cannabis/entheogen culture website/forum. We've sent some things back and forth between us and he's been a mad help advising me on growing/setup, he's got his own going on too. So yeah when he cruises down to Sydney we'll probably be meeting up.

I have... Couple of first dates via Craig's List (two guys and a girl - all of them were nice, but there wasn't much chemistry so they didn't amount to anything, though the girl got totally attached and dropped the L Bomb after the third date)...

I actually met a guy through a Buffy Forum (sigh, yes, true). He was living in Australia. I was spending my year in China. For my two-week Christmas vacation I was already planning to go to Oz, so I figured I'd go out there and meet him. Why not? We had IM'd and emailed a lot and I figured that if he was a creep or we didn't get along, I would just go hostel hopping up the coast, which was my original plan for the vacation anyway... Turns out we clicked, fell madly in love, stayed together when I went back to China, and had an amazing long-distance relationship. I went to Oz again... He came to the States when I went back home... And then unfortunately it ended... Think of him every day, though...

next question, how far have you driven to meet someone? that is the thing that weirds me out a little, I have friends I won't drive 5 hours to see and I hear stories of people flying to england to meet people. am I the only person who thinks that is weird?

like if elvis' band was doing a canadian tour or something, I would 100% get him a gig at THE metal/hardcore/punk bar in Vancouver (you can hold me to that btw) and it would be neat to meet him. however that's a little different than him flying here just to meet me (which would be horribly disappointing for him because even at the bar I might only be able to talk to him for 20 minutes or something.)

LOL that's hilarious.

that looks like a good place, mmm pan fried scallops.

and lemon bar mix is used in a lot of drinks, look up recipes online and anything that says lemon juice (or sour mix) is actually made with lemon (some cases lime) bar mix. they put lemon juice in the recipes because you can only buy barmix if you own a bar. There's a few people I wouldn't mind meeting from here if it was in a safe, public place. Sorry, memories of perverts past make me a little leery of the whole thing.

But the positive thing is that when I meet people in person, I get along with them much better. I know I don't always make sense and get taken the wrong way with the things I say online. I'm terribly sarcastic, and that doesn't always work online. If ya talk to me, on the phone, and especially face to face, I express myself much more accurately.

Maybe we should try to have a horror.com con. Nah, that would take too much planning. :D

But if anyone gets up to the Minneapolis area, we could find something to do. Lots to do in this area. :)

I plan to meet some HDC people at FanExpo at the end of the month if my friends can get it together cause I wouldn't go alone. It's a 2 hour drive to the convention center so that's not too far at all. I wouldn't really fly somewhere to meet someone though.

As for meeting Psycom, he's right over the border so if it happened then cool. Liking him for his looks is actually probable considering I'm the only one on HDC who knows what he looks like, and I certainly don't like him for his conversational skills.

I've met several girls from the interwebz. 3, in fact.

Now, all 3 of these girls were extremely attractive. However, all 3 of them were also insane. One of them still to this day calls and harassers me even though we've been apart for 2 years and I'm married. Our relationship only lasted 2 weeks for cryin' out loud!

But still, if I ever end up on the prowl again, I'd probably do it again. Not to look for anything long term but for a hook-up it's not bad. A lot of people are scared to meet people online but I feel that in 2009 it's not such a bad thing. This is the age of internet communication and online social networking. I think most people are now more educated on what to look for and be aware of when it comes to internet creepos and people posing to be someone else. There will always be the rapists and killers that prey online and succeed in finding bate butat least a proportionate amount of that (greater, probably) happens outside of the net anyways.

Just remember, if the only pictures she has of herself are from up top with a bright ass flash, showing only the bust but never any clear shots of her arms, abdomen or otherwise, she is fat.

Who needs to meet people when you have MSN, where conversations are fruitful and accurately capture each participants emotions and personality.

I've met about a dozen people I initially got to know online. Including one from this forum.
