Help wanted (suggestions specifically)

I'm currently getting started on a collaborative film/art project and could do with the benefit of your collective expertise. The plan is to construct to a film by editing together existing footage from horror films of (approximately ) the 70’s and 80’s.

We already have the story, what we need are appropriate scenes and while we have a decent all-round knowledge of film, what we lack is a specific expertise in this particular field. This, hopefully, is where you come in. If you could have a look through the list of scenes we need and leave a comment with anything that you think might fit it’d be much appreciated.

Additionally if you’d like to explore in more detail, I’ve also put up a rough plot outline and scene breakdown, which should give a better flavour of our intentions or what the finished article might look like.

We have a particular interest in low-budget and European films, Giallos and anything that upon release might have been considered a “video nasty” ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Video_nasty ) but all suggestions are welcome.

When I posted this elsewhere they suggested I post the list within the forum, so I'm gonna do so here too.

Scenes we’d need: a rough list.

Obviously the nature of putting this together means were flexible on having different people representing different characters from scene to scene and shot to shot and we don’t need details to match exactly, we just need things that could potentially fit together with some creative editing. Any suggestions you have for films featuring appropriate material are greatly appreciated and can be left in the comments section below. We’re particularly interested in using footage from low budget horror and Giallo films from the period (approximately) 1968-1988, but anything that springs to mind is welcome. Thanks.

Scenes we’d need

1- A young girl exploring woods in the daytime

2- woodland nature footage/ bird feeding worm to chicks

3- toiling ants

4- A family/couple having a picnic in meadow

5- darkening of weather

6- solar eclipse footage

7- A young woman running/getting chased by zombies/monsters through woods at night.

8- A young woman (our heroine) waking up from a nightmare

9- close up of a bedside clock

10- young woman getting dressed in motel

11- Young woman leaving motel

12- Heroine hitchhiking

13- Heroine is picked up after a long day hitchhiking

14- Hitchhiker girl talking to man inside truck/car

15- Heroine being introduced to older lady

16- Young woman having dinner with old couple

17- Jeep of youngsters arrive at store.

18- Girl meets boy in store.

19- Introductions (hands shaking etc.) outside diner/shop

20- Further introductions (in a diner), young people chatting

21- Commune footage

22- People (at a commune preferably) preparing costumes/working on decorations etc.

23- Commune leader/handsome man with moustache(aka evil man) inspecting work/creativity, strolling, chatting, flirting with heroine

24- party at Evil man’s opulent home. Evil man makes toast. Evil man’s minions serve punch/wine (black)

25- Heroine and main boy stroll in garden or sit by fire and discuss their pasts, then embrace.

26- Car cash (for flash back scene) parents in front and child in back

27- The party goes more debauched and ‘capitalist’ – sex, drugs and rock and roll.

28- A young man at the party explores the cellar, finds personal effects of previous victims and is brutally murdered by unknown assailant

29- A small town preparing for a local festival/ parade (Beginning of festival, bunting, costumes, cars, general activity)

30- Games and competitions at a fete/festival (wrestling, racing, misc.)

31- distribution of bread and wine

32- A man reacting badly/violently to losing a contest/race

33- Guard/minion being reprimanded for being impolite/being a bad loser

34- A small town parade

35- Pretty much anything featuring a mine. Exterior shot and interior shots.

36- A group of youths surrounded by guards

37- Evil man reveals the members of the commune’s fate

38- Young man is killed by guards for committing an act of defiance

40- Girl is killed as further demonstration of what happens if defiance is shown

41- Commune members/prisoners are lead into mine

42- The prisoners being lead to their quarters in the mine

43- Female prisoners are stripped with some being taken away, the heroine is excused

44- The prisoners are awoken by PA system alarm

45- The prisoners are set to work

46- Prisoners eat and drink and discuss their situation

47- Heroine lead into evil man’s office

48- Heroine lead from evil man’s office to underground cavern

49- Anything featuring a giant worm/underground monster especially with people working around it

50- footage of slaves/prisoners working in a mine

51-heroine moving through corridors/tunnels on an errand

52- Heroine sneaks into holding cell during errand

53- Heroine sees other girl dress as prostitute/sex slave under duress/drunk/mad

54- Heroine sneaks from her room and moves through corridors

55- Heroine sees minions feeding giant worm (or other monster) body parts

56- Heroine discusses with other prisoners escape plans

57- Heroine enters evil man’s office flirts with him and then knocks him unconscious

58-Heroine signals to the other prisoners to escape

59- Other prisoners overpower guards and begin to escape

60- Minion enters office and is apprehended by heroine who takes keys and weapons.

61- Band of prisoners overthrow and kill guards, workers flee before worm is attacked.

62- Prisoners attacking worm but getting killed

63- Heroine arrives and sets fire to worm

64- Prisoners flee mine as worm writhes in agony

65- Heroine journeys to holding cell to check on sex-slave girl but she is dead

66- Heroine flees into evil man who she kills

67- Prisoners flee mine out to exterior sunlight

68- Prisoners embrace and moves towards town, worm roars again

Looks like a hell of an undertaking. If I get some free time I'll try to add a few. Although I really don't get the point.....if you're taking clips from many different movies......won't it look like one big mess? I hope you have some good editors.

A big mess is indeed a possibility but avoiding that (or at least making it a mess that works) is where the challenge comes in. I'm hoping that establishing the format early on with simple sequences that establish an identifiable character/archetype but with different actors (the extended sequence of the girl running through the woods and the hitchhiking montage particularly) it'll help it be a little less confused.
