I want to get another tattoo for my birthday. I've just spent the last hour on the internet looking for what I want and can't find it.
I want a black cat that looks like it's walking, with an armband of paw prints underneath. All I keep seeing on the internet are weird looking cats. I don't want a weird looking cat, I want a normal looking cat.
Can anyone help me find what I'm looking for? I have an appointment for a consultation with the tattoo artist next Tuesday. They told me to bring pictures of what I want.
Stop the charade....you know you're in love with me. Don't deny destiny.
screw the cat.....this is your new tattoo

Thanks, newb!

That tattoo sounds so cute, Hammerfan. I will probably get a lucky cat tattoo when i get my other tattoos fixed in a few months.

Bwahahaha! :D No, they are missing ink and the lines aren't real sharp. I have two and second one isn't as bad as the first. Basically, since I had never gotten a tattoo before (and even did some research), I didn't realize how crappy the shop I went to was. I did go to my local tattoo convention last winter and found a guy who does good work and doesn't overcharge, but hadn't the time (or lately the money since I move in a few weeks) to go.

Any halfway decent tattoo artist will gladly custom draw you exactly what you want. Just tell them your idea and it will be done. Plus you will be the only person with that exact tattoo. Go for it.

Just get your tattoo guy to draw it...most are a bit past the "tracing" bit, and can actually throw together a few designs of what you want.

I think that is the coolest thing I have heard in a long time. Hammerfan has tattoos:cool:
Question: I have been thinking of getting 2 tattoos for about 5 years now...haven't even been to an artist, but was wondering : Can they cover scars so that there is no evidence of the scar?
cheebacheeba
06-04-2009, 08:36 PM
I'd say that depends on the scar...they might be able to go around it or something, but scars are not meant to tattoo well, the skin is textured differently and does not hold ink in place as normal skin does, scar tissue is not as porous.

hmmm
Then maybe I need to incorporate the scar into the tattoo because the placement just doesn't work anywhere else.
Thanks cheebs

Scars with tattoos around them can look cool. I have a wicked 3 inch scar on my right forearm and I've always kinda wanted to get a tat of a scissors cutting in to it.

I agree 110% with Cheeba, it's kind of what they do as artists. :)

A frind of mine had surgery performed on his mid-section, and the scar is vertical from his waist to his upper chest, I keep telling him he needs to get a tattoo of a zipper where the scar is. :)
Hammerfan, I agree that you should let your artist design it for you (or design it yourself)

It's really hard to tattoo on scars though.
Hammerfan, I would honestly advise against getting an armband tattoo. They can be really tacky and usually turn out uneven.

Really? Even an armband of paw prints? Well damn......
@nova - yes, I have two tats. I don't have more because for me the tats have to have a special meaning and I haven't found one that's jumped out at me. But, I thought for my 50th birthday coming up, I'd like to get one to celebrate.

Get what you want. If you find a good artist, you won't have any problems. Just listen to their advice, they'll be able to tell you if that placement will work on your body. Most armbands I've seen aren't crooked. It's your birthday, you should go for it. :)

It really depends on the scar - raised heavily keloided don't take ink so well.
But flat 'white' scars cover pretty easily. I have a huge scar on my leg and the part thats tattooed took the ink really well. Obviously the texture of the scarred flesh remains unchanged.

IMO 50 is too old to be getting new tattoos. I believe they should all be gotten when you are young, such as 18-29, just because you should have them go through life with you and experience everything that you do. If you get them so late in life... There really isn't a point.

I really don't get this at all.
What does 'you should have them go through life with you and experience everything that you do' mean? Sounds kinda pretentious to me.
As cheebacheeba mentioned ppl get tattooed for a lot of different reasons - one of the reasons I really like tattoos is that mark the passage of your life. People often get tattooes to celebrate/remember people they love/lost of thinggs that they've done - these don't always need to be linked to major events and just can tie you to memory at a particular part of your life...
There's nothing wrong with getting tattoos for just visual/artistic value but there a lot more reasons for them - limiting youself to not getting a tattoo when you reach 30 seems odd to me.
Then again I'm just saying this because I'm over 30 and I want to get another tattoo..

That's the stupidest thing I have ever heard of. You don't need a bunch of tattoos to carry you through life. They are not symbiont creatures. You can get them done whenever. I've meet people that didn't get their first tattoo until they were 50. It's your body and you can do what you want and when you want.

More importantly, where are they? ;)
For what its worth, I dont think age is a factor with regards tattoos. Anyone at any age can look good with them, so long as its the right design which is the trick.

I put that shit against my Cathy bunny ankle tattoo any day..

I've not yet been inked...I'll be having a full shoulder piece done though, a portrait of my dog that got serial killed a few years ago...I have a very nice photo and it needs to be exact, going to be a pretty expensive one.
I also have to get one, just something I like (working on it) that's small, not too offensive or anything, with the date of my anniversary on there...as you will see from the following pic, the chick already had the same done and I'd like to match it with a picture of my own (there's a few alterations to be done to the shading of hers yet)

That one's on her upper arm.
This is one she got before, some of you may have seen it on her avatar

So yeah, my chick got hers both on different birthdays too.
Seems like an alright gift, and an alright day to do it, so...why not.
