On April 18th, you get a chance at a unique cultural experience, to witness a new, strange phase of American literature, hear excerpts from horrific books and shop at the coolest damn independent bookstore you will ever see! Also, I,Garrett "Doc Faustus" Cook will be there, reading from Murderland Part 1:H8, a different excerpt than the one I read last year. Also present will be D. Harlan Wilson author of Dr. Identity and the new, violent and intense novel Peckinpah which Alan Moore called "A bludgeoning celluloid rush of language and ideas served from an action-painter's bucket of fluorescent spatter, Peckinpah is an incendiary gem and very probably the most extraordinary new novel you will read this year.", Andersen Prunty, author of the Overwhelming Urge, Zerostrata and Jack and Mr. Grin and Eckhard Gerdes, editor of the Journal of Experimental Fiction and author of the Million Year Centipede and My Landlady the Lobotomist. Their books take horror and science fiction to new stages and strange landscapes filled with humor, violence and grotesquerie. These are writers well worth checking out. So, come to Quimby's bookstore in Wicker Park at 6:30 PM and meet us. Books will be signed and sold and a good time will be had. Plus, Quimby' s has the coolest most outrageous selection of books you'll find in the Midwest.
