The Hollywood Reporter notes that Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke is poised to jump into adapting yet another young-adult sci-fi/fantasy series – this time a quintet of books - by suspense author James Patterson called Maximum Ride.

The books tell the story of The Flock, six genetically engineered children, cross-breeds of humans and birds, who are perused by creatures called Erasers that are a deadly combination of human and wolf.
Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer scribe Don Payne will handle the screenplay while Avi and Ari Arad will produce alongside Patterson.
No word yet on casting, but we're certain to hear more in the very near future. Keep a tab on this thread.
