why are the powers that be accusing horror of breeding violence among young people. first it was video games, then rock music, then rap music and now people are calling for tighter horror restrictions i mean what the fuck are they doing if anything should be restricted it should be Barney the motherfuckin dinosaur and the fucking teletubbies as they wont just breed violence theyll warp your mind for fuckin life so if it goes too far the people of the forum should sign a petition as horror is so blatently false while all these gory war movies are like real life and should in theory be worse no. so this is where the beginning of "insert cool acronym here" is and we will win cos we're .no

Your preaching to the choir buddy. Ive been sayin this for so long. But lets face it, as long as people can find a scapegoat for their own faults and their bad parenting, they will.

it won't end, not until people start learning to take responsibility. it's always easier to put the blame on something else than to take a good look at yourself in the mirror...

Oh god, not the horror movies again! why won't they blame president Bush for a change...

besides, I've always thought that I grew up to be a quite wellbalanced and nonviolent person because I did watch horror as a child (and still do of course)

I agree totally,
People are fed up with their everyday lives. The government and right wing media work together to convince the people its not them thats making shit stink but horror movies and pornography. HORSE SHIT

this answer is simple... 12 years olds get pregnate so they get social assistence and don't have to work. they don't know how to be a mother so they blam the media.

as much as its been said before and will be said we need to take action. the recent war in iraq with all the shit and gore put on tv then. so what do u think is corrupting the kiddies bush a bit of fake scary fun or some real violence where actual people get killed and it isnt effects. plus so called kiddys shows the teeletubbies. if their not homosexual then im married to monica keena. and you tell me that barney taking all those kids and hugging them that hes not a perv. you see the very programming designed for little kids is actually whats warping them not the fake horror we all know and love.

What can we do.

people will blame whoever they want, religion (or lack of), media, or the how the moon and stars are placed

fact is, a movement against horror movies aint happenin. a few religious fucks armed with crosses and idiot housewives who sit in front of the tv or comp and dont watch their kids arent gonna do shit.

NOW, if some director were to make a movie lets say about.. a school shooting? that would be a different story. but i dont think there would be anyone that stupid or insensitive

so what im trying to say is.... there is no movement! because there is no problem! now hunger, homelessness, illiteracy, terror, aids... THose are problems. try thinking about those before you start worrying about losing your horror movies

uhh.. was that a horror movie? that movie is irrelevant as the message and point of it is ENTIRELY different than a horror

freedy vs jason, scream, ringu = horror
bowling for columbine = documentary

So a horror movie can't have social commentary?

....... reread the first post

fredhead is talking about how people will blame horror movies for causing kids to burn themselves, kill each other etc. how people want to censor horror movies

bowling for columbine has NOTHING to do with this. i can see why you brought it up as i had mentioned school shootings. but that is irrelevant. this topic is about horror censorship, not what makes people go crazy (there alreadya topic on that)

And you do not think they will go after Horror movies eventually? There is a movement to sanitize everything in American society. Just ask Howard Stern.

i know theyre on it.. so?

they got on rap ever since ice t released 'copkiller.' now personally i think that was off of him. even before i thought about becoming a cop, telling people to kill all cops is a total different story. ice was stereotyping, and even he decided to get rid of it

just cuz theres a movement doesnt mean its gonna get anywhere. peta and greenpeace is a powerful movement and has been moving for how long now. rap hasnt at all changed or been censored. besides, freedom of speech protects all of this. along with the nuts saying 'get rid of all horror movies' there are gona be just as many if not more nuts saying 'freedom of speech' so if people want to waste their time fighting on either side of this debate, then so be it

like i said in my first post, there are SO many more worthy problems that need to be addressed before you worry about stupid crap like this.

Point taken. I hope so.

ok so there are more more important problems in the world other than loss of horror but still you should at least worry about it as first films then games then theyll worry about music and if horror goes then really so does this site which means youll have to join a lesser forum so to sum up my point worry about thde worlds problems but also worry about horror a little as to be scared of thing that dont exist even for a mere second is a contributing factor to growing up and life. thank you ;)

Ever seen the Movie Equilibrium? Its loosely based on Aldous Huxley's Brave New World. Killer fucking movie where everone takes a drug to stop their emotions and bows down to some religous figurehead. In the movie they have clerics who eradicate "sense offenders" or people who choose to feel or hold on to things that could insight feeling. Now Huxley wrote that book in 1932. With WWI our dreams of an ever evolving society on the path to perfection were shattered. They can point the finger all they want. Whether the blame is on horror movies, music, or games its all a last ditch effort to stop a society that continuously changing. Change isnt so bad its that the people in charge have little or no control over the changes younger people make. Its always been so. The trend in the past hundred years has been away from censorship. Shit in the 20's flappers were considered risque. The more people try to censor the bigger the rise others get from breaking rules. Mass-Censorship will never work. If it comes to the slaughter of those who break the rules well shit ill be one of the first to go. As Patrick Henry said when they were forming the United States "GIVE ME LIBERTY OR GIVE ME DEATH."
