is it "savable"? and if it was, would the cost of saving the world be higher than you'd want to pay?
What do you think about the planet and humankind? Have you ever fantasized about the Armageddon? How do you think it's going to end?
Personally, I like to not care about these things since it probably won't concern me. I just thought it would be an interesting discussion.

The world will go on no matter what we do to it, even if we wipe out all life, it will always recover over a long enough time.
The way to saving what we have now is simple (I think) but difficult to implement. The human population must be reduced to about 5 million (an arbitrary figure but a nice round one)and tight controls to maintain it at this level.
Its a large enough number to ensure species survival and small enough for everything else to get back into balance.
Any volunteers to help with the cull?

Nukes for the homeless so they can blackmail the world and declare themselves an asswhoopin' sovereign nation.

Step #1) kill all the stupid people (who's stupidity is manefested by harming others and the environment)
ship them off to the moon ... in a convertable.
step #2) sterilize people at birth. you earn a license to have a baby showing the capacity for love and the ability to finantially care for one.
do those 2 things and i think the world can be considered saved.

Purification by fire. :p
We really need to get rid of about 5-6 billion people to make this planet livable. It would be so nice to wake up one day and they were all gone. :)

I'd save the world, one Ferret at a time.
I personally think the world will end from something out of this world. By that, I mean maybe a comet or meteorite. Maybe a crazy big solar flare. Either way, I think it will take a good few billion years to happen. Earth will probably Survive until the sun dies. The human race is another matter. But Earth's adaptable, and I think as long as there is some kind of life left, be it amoeba or elephant or fish etc., life will continue.
I say fuck the world, it aint worth saving. I personally cant wait for nuclear war.
hmmm...you must be fun at parties.
I say...FREE BEER FOR ALL
everything else will fall into place.

The world's population will most likely even itself out. I was looking for a couple of articles I've read on the subject, but it's early in the morning. I'll try to find them later.
As a whole, we need to pump more money into science. We made it to the moon fifty years ago; we should have at least small permanent mining colonies by now. If we're to survive as a species, we'll eventually have to perfect space travel. The life of the sun is finite. However long it has left, it's the blink of an eye in the grander scheme of things.
I'm not too savvy on world events, but for the US at least, there's no excuse for us to not throw billions of dollars at alternative energy. We're falling apart at the seams right now, and it's all our own fault. We have this entire barren era of flat land we like to call the midwest with nary a wind farm. For those of you in the know, if there's one thing that part of the country isn't short on, it's wind. We have plenty of south western desert that we can convert into solar farms.
That's definitely a step in the right direction, IMHO.

Well I try to raise a bit of consciousness about shit I think is fucked up thru songs.
It's pretty hard to change ideology that's ingrained. Once that changes the world might start spinning the right way.

I'm with Flayed. I did a report on alternative energy and wind energy is seldom used, but it's very effective and relatively inexpensive to harness. Plus he's right, we have PLENTY of space and PLENTY of wind.
I however, think mankind will be wiped out by disease. It's been around since the dawn of time, and it's just a matter of time before something comes along that truly spins humanity for a loop.

I figure it would basically be AIDS. That way it will technically be... every disease combined.

Whatever it will be, you can bet your savings it will be man made.
My thought is it will be some sort of biological agent with results similar to 'I Am Legend' without the zombie style side affects.
