No I never got round to seeing that one. I wasn't really a fan of that era of Talking Heads (might give it a watch because I was 8 years old then and my tastes are more likely completely different).

I had the No Talking Just Head CD too that was pretty bland.

My guess would be.... Because it's full of obscure albums that not more than 3-5 people are familiar with.

Throw up Nevermind vs. Appetite for Destruction and watch the votes roll in.

Elvis_Christ
03-10-2009, 09:12 PM
Whatever. Everything in the tournament thus far has been far from obsucre.

There is only about 3-5 people that vote in all the tournaments on the board.

bwind22
03-10-2009, 11:10 PM
Not that the bands are obscure to the point that no one has ever heard of them, but the albums are obscure to the point that people aren't familiar with them enough to cast a vote. I'm an avid music listener, but I've personally only sat down and listened to probably 3-4 of these albums in their entirety even once and I've never even heard of The Pogues.

I'm telling you... If the albums were more mainstream, the votes would come. They need to be albums that everyone is familiar with or people aren't gonna vote. Stuff like Thriller, Abbey Road, In Utero, Dookie, Nevermind the Bullocks..., Appetite for Destruction, And Justice for All, The Chronic, Doggystyle..... Albums that don't need the artists name attached to them and people still recognize them. Those are the ones that would inspire more voting.

Just my 2 cents. I am not knocking this tournament. Feel free to run it how you see fit Disease. I am simply giving my opinion in response to the question from Zero posed a few posts up.

I'm pretty suprised you have never heard of the Pogues actually.

I'm just going to leave this match alive untill there is a result, these albums are not obscure, they are classic albums, it will run it's course.

bwind22
03-11-2009, 01:00 AM
Evidently, they were much more popular in the UK than they ever were in America. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Pogues (Look at the chart at the bottom.)

That being said, I am familiar with 'Fairytale of New York' but I didn't realize that it was a Pogues song. No Use for a Name covers it.

And like I said, I wasn't knocking your tourney at all. It's fine as is. I was just offering an an explanation to Zero as to why I don't think it's getting many votes. People aren't familiar enough with the albums being posted.

Primal Scream because the Clash is the most overrated band of all time.

I was gonna say "what about Led Zeppelin?" or "what about the White Stripes?" but Led Zeppelin is that good and you're kinda right. But Bank Robber is an awesome song and so is Rock the Casbah. Problem with the Clash is that they forget that punk is not meant to be political.

But it's not about the band or musician as much as it is the album as a complete piece in this tournament.

If you think that pride is about nationality, you're wrong

I am going to put all the beatles albums up against each other in a mini tournament. I don't want to put more than two albums from any artist in the actual tournament. So to do this the match between Revolver and Are you Experienced will be scratched.

The next match here will be up when we have sorted out the beatles.
