Is this one worth watching?

It's a bitch getting your hands on this one in Denmark, but I think I might have found a spot selling this one.

Does it compare with the original Rec. or is this just a waste of money?

I absoloutely loved Rec, so I'm afraid this one might ruin it for me.

I saw it at the movies and i liked it, a good story. I haven't seen Rec, so i cannot compare the two. I would read some reviews on the net to get an idea, look on Youtube to see if anyone has posted it, or look through this site i thought there was a thread already? I think i will buy it, when it comes to dvd.

I liked "Rec" alot, why make this when there is already a good and new orginal version. I wont bother see this one. Im very pleased with Rec so yeah.

I was incredibly impressed with Quarantine. I thought that it was well-done, well-acted, and incredibly well-directed. My only problem with the movie is that I found our main heroine to be incredibly obnoxious. However, I thought that the movie captured both human paranoia, human horror, and human and non-human monsters.

I highly recommend Quarantine. While I have not yet seen [Rec] (having a HELL of a time getting my hands on it), Quarantine is an excellent horror movie. I'm actually a bit baffled that more people didn't get into it. I'm wondering if it's:

The true horror enthusiasts saw the original, loved it, and scoff at the remake

and

The non-horror enthusiasts just don't like it (they're probably sick of the whole shaky cam thing

Regardless - This movie was incredibly underrated and I recommend it.

This is absolutely the reason (at least for me). Quarantine is just completely lackluster after seeing [REC].

I can definitely respect that. I was actually holding off on seeing the remake just so that my reference for [rec] would be completely untarnished.

I eventually gave in because finding [rec] was becoming neigh impossible (watching it on the internets doesn't count; I don't have a good enough computer screen to do it justice) and I was jonsin for a horror date with My Man. :o

I was surprised - It had me clutching at his arm (been a WHILE since that has happened)... Can't WAIT to see [rec], now.

I really can't be fucked watching [REC] again so I think I'll skip this one.

I dug [REC] but its only a one time only watch for me.

I liked it, I just didn't feel it was very much fun.

It was good for a remake, but nowhere near as good as Rec. The girl is less annoying in Rec, and the ending is a LOT more intense in the orignal version. But I've seen far worse as remakes go, that's for sure.i

Yup, in Quarantine, she's just unbearable and over the top, while in Rec, I found the way she panicks more realistic.

Yeah, I thought the girl in [REC] was great. Sure, she's panicking relentlessly, but her situation certainly warrants that. She did a great job making it seem very natural and indeed "real".

I haven't seen Rec but I really enjoyed Quarantine a lot and I thought Jennifer Carpenter's acting was fine. She was just as good in "The Exorcism of Emily Rose" as well. Another movie that I enjoyed. I like how this movie is mostly shot in the darkness and then has it "pop out" scenes. The "zombies" are really creepy as well. It is a must see!

I pretty much agree with BH14.

Haven't seen [REC] due to the fact that I don't like watching movies with sub-titles, but I did watch Quarantine for the first time a few weeks ago and absolutely loved it.

I don't understand the hate for Carpenter's performance. In my opinion she brilliantly captured the reaction of a terrified young and immature girl in an unimaginably horrific situation.

I really liked this movie a lot and thought it was one of the best horror films of the year. I still have yet to see [Rec] but I really want to, especially since a sequel is coming out for it now.

You are definately missing out. In my opinion, the best horror flicks are coming from Europe nowadays. Setting aside all of them, because subtitles annoy you is just ignorant.

[REC] is really good and Quarantine is a fine remake. If you haven't seen either, I recommend you first watch Quarantine... you will enjoy it without prejudice and then you can still take enjoyment in the superior Spanish version.

you're missing out on an entire world of awesome cinema by not watching films with subtitles.

I know. I still catch the must-sees like Pan's Labyrinth [which was amazing, by the way], it's just that I have a really short attention span and sub-titled movies proves a bit too difficult for my ADD butt.
